Why keep Bryson whyyyy
Because it is easier than trying to do something you suck at, making a trade.

To answer the title of this post.
I close my eyes and what do I see...nothing.

No- not better.

Loved his “I bring my heart” answer. Even though he’s 4 years away if he has a solid development track it does allow us to trade RHDs in the system ahead of him.

any "big swing" player will have a no trade clause, which means they ain't comin to WNY, so "big swings" are probably not possible
I hope I am wrong.
I think he (KA) is done with any other "big" moves based on his track record.
It is not in his DNA. He made what he would consider a big trade, and he could not handle another one. All maxed out. He needs time to rest, grab an IV and recover. He needs time to absorb what he just did and think about it. Ponder, reminds me of Eeyore. Any other moves and it will mess up his plan to do what is best to improve this team.
It will be fun to watch the rest of the NHL during the next few months as the Sabre's fade into the sunset. Not to be heard again but to read, they signed "x" to a two-way contract for $950,000.
Oh, and KA might have to talk to Tage about it to make sure it is ok...

Kevyn says this is beyond a mere fan's knowledge of what's good for them. If this doesn't get you excited for a big playoff run, they'll do it without you.
Kevyn only wants fans who believe in him and want to be here.
And be hard to play against.

Maybe he will be the next Zdeno Chara!

It will be 3 or 4 years before he is lost in the system.

The answer is to make better personnel decisions. The issue isn’t about a particular good or bad deal. It’s the body of work.
So a professional athlete wants to leave because of personnel decisions. I guess if it has to have with who makes the team or not, I could understand that.

Are you making the statement that Dobson is a Norris level d man currently?! That’s a big reach
Yep

Everyone knows why. It’s not a mystery to anyone inside and outsize of this discredited franchise. When you dig a deep hole you have to climb out of it. There’s no magical and quick solutions. It’s about making smart decisions on a day to day basis.
so what is the answer?

That had been debunked - a few of the Internet guys mostly Chad has said that he would not stay here… Also, he wants 10 or $11 million a year. I would not have wanted that trade. Nor does Rossi do anything for us in exchange for Peterka.
We may still see Byram for kyrou
And what good does too late first rounders plus roster dumps do for us?
looking at all the above, we took the best trade right?! Even if something is lacking. It’s still better than the deals above. There’s no way I’m paying Dobson $10 million a year.
what is a possible Norris Trophy worth?

Been seeing some rumors from St. Louis (My best friends team) that they are hearing Byram for Jordan Kyrou.....
Looks like St. Louis is in on Noah dobson not Byram. I would be too. Sabres could have landed Dobson for JJP.

There are now reports of other deals that KA passed on for JJP. One was Noah Dobson from NY.

I meant ticking on the prediction of a trade pre-draft. We might very well keep him.
But it's also ticking on trading #9.
KA blew his wad. Done with trades.

It's not unusual to judge trades on the basis of who won or lost the trade. However, especially in this case, that's not how the deal should be evaluated. Based on the fact that JJP wasn't able to come to terms with Buffalo while immediately coming to terms with Utah after the trade makes it abundantly clear that he didn't want to be here. I wanted to keep JJP. But if he was going to be dealt the expectation was that the return would address other areas of need. By that measure, it did. It added a big defenseman and grittier forward.
Most people who follow the Sabres acknowledge that this roster needed to be reshaped to become a less finesse-oriented team to a harder to play team. So we gave up a young scorer who was a lackluster two-way player. The bottom line is that you give up something of value to get something back in value. And that's exactly what happened here.
And it should be noted that if there are additional follow up deal/s that contribute to reshaping the lineup, the JJP deal would look even better in the larger context.
I wonder, if all these players saying, I don't want to be here, has anyone asked them why? What is the reason...

Yep that’s what we’ll find out. Not sure JJ will continue at a 14% shooting rate either or put up the points he did last year with a C not as good as tage??
I get it, trying to predict the future. I try to look at what the players have done in the past.

One thing I am looking forward to is watching Kesselring hammer slapshots. His shot is only outdone by Tage's. Dahlin is very close behind in top shot speed. The other teams are going to be limping off the ice if they get in the way of that trio. You want to block this? Go ahead make my day.
Red scores
His benchmark skills show low shot blocking, low percent of shots on goal/shooting percentage, doesn't take penalties, battling skills are low, goals for is low, and has a high percentage of giveaways in the offensive zone.
Defensively has high percentages of goals against (in a positive way) when on the ice, and a high Corsi rating.

I have no idea if Adams is done or not but I fear the end result.
I am concerned with the loss of offensive production. We are forever going back and forth and not progressing. As I said, if we gave up any number of prospects I'd love these additions but what we gave up creates an even bigger hole. Right now we still look like a farm team for the rest of the league.
It appears to be a change in direction from his original plan. Creating a pile of prospects with goal scoring in mind, switch to today/last year - getting players who are hard to play against and a bit tougher. (Problem - you need D and a goalie and better centermen, pretty weak down the middle.)
Possibly another year or two of no playoffs, especially with KA's speed of making changes.
Crystal ball - another 5 years goes by, other teams get good and creative with their rosters, and KA changes plan again to follow the trend...
Rinse Repeat

Top line player with bad analytics (and really bad analytics without tage) for a 2ND line dman and a 3rd/4th line player with elite forechecking analytics. I’m the first to admit I didn’t like the trade but then I researched it and it makes sense. Scoring a ton is great unless you’re getting scored on even more when you’re on the ice

Not sure he is a 2nd line D man and not sure on Doan as a 3rd line player.
I hope it turns out differently and both play important minutes to push the team into the playoffs.

Yea. Especially with all our late picks.
He can play on a line with Doan.

Trade a top line player in return for a 3rd line defenseman and 4th line player.
It is hard to find good players in any professional sport. Buffalo traded a good player.
The offseason so far - Are the Sabres better?

Funny - I was thinking, why the sudden change in direction with the team? Who put the bug in KA's arse to change midstream and not want to play with speed and skill? Where did this come from? I am 100 percent positive it did not come from KA. Did that person know it would take more than 2 years to flip the roster and change direction? Another few years of fans going off along with social media, with no playoffs in sight? If not, there is a bigger problem than just the GM.
