And the first comment under that is "totally agree, we should trade Eichel"

this is how these weird narratives get started - it's not "Cozens win" today, he was pretty decent, had some nice plays, also some big turnovers. He whacked at a lose puck in front and the whole team joined a scuffle. Cozens didn't do anything that's indicative of it being "his" win NM that Eichel is expendable.

Please do not interrupt my man crush on Cozens.

Yes, I know it's not 100% on him.

Just don't tell me his play isn't exactly the kind of "culture" change we're talking about here.  Well people like me anyway.

I’m happy with the direction, but I don’t want Granato as the coach.  KA needs to take a more open style to utilize his roster, but needs an experienced x and O guy who will help the kids over the inevitable rough spots.

Yea but for now that's exactly what's happening.

We'll see how it plays out.

When you have good goaltending you are usually in the game even if territorially the other team has the margin.

Dahlin has been unshackled. He and Joki complement each other. Joki plays the tighter defensive game allowing Dahlin to do more creative freelancing on offense.

Mitts has taken a lot of heat from the crowd.  Understandably so.  Each game he seems to get better and more confident.

Under Granato the team is getting better and playing a faster north/south game. And what is most encouraging is that the younger players are getting better.

My money is on Granato being the HC next season.

If they maintain this how can he not?

This ties Ullmark for 16th in the NHL for sv%

I don't know about gsar (goals saved above replacement) but if someone has a place for that it would be cool.

Sorry if I missed if posted...

They are now 7-5-3 when Ullmark starts.

    1-18-3 in the others.

That's your stat of the year imo.

I want him and anyone other then Hutton to compete for the job and let it sort out knowing Ullmark is reliable and potentially beginning to put it all together.

  5. So 4 GMs in 8 years.

    Another coach is a certainty.

That will be 4 in 6 years?

    Who wants to come here?

    Who even wants these jobs?

The Krueger hire was clearly all Terry.  Botterill I think we can all now safely say in addition to sucking at his job probably had a problem with Terry hiring Ralph so he was canned.

Terry Pegula is clearly the problem.

This team needs a President because it needs to shake the fact (it's not an impression anymore) that the clueless owner is too involved and contributed to decisions from awful hires to bad contracts.   For a decade now.

  6. Alex Nylander 2016 8th overall.

    Casey Mittelstadt 2017 8th overall.

Back to back top 10 busts.

And we wonder why we are where we are.

Oh and in the middle of those 2 disasters, we trade ROR for Tage Thompson.

And 2018s first overall generational D Man looks completely lost.

I totally trust our scouts know who to target when we trade Staal Hall and Montour.

It's going to be a return of a 2nd round and two 4th round picks anyway.

It's definitely real, the question is, who is it?

Justin Gibbons is not a name that you would connect to the organization on any level, his son's name is Justin, his wife's hyphenated last name includes Gibbons. The account is at least a month or so old, so it would be a fairly long-running and patient joke, if it were a joke. The jokester would have had to control himself, tweeting sporadically enough so as not to arouse suspicion, to have a fairly normal posting pattern. He also would have to trust that eventually his tweets would be read or noticed by someone who cares, without promoting them himself.

It feels organic. Maybe it's just a random Ralph defender, but the name thing and follower connection really does read like it's Ralph's son not thinking that anyone would care enough to dig like this, since it's not that big of a deal even now that we may know

It had 11 tweets as of last night.

Someone is just messing around "hey look a Ralph burner account!"

Because watching and talking about the team is a waste of time so...

Fighting in the 70s and 80s was either flat out pugilism, or standing up for your stars. Fighting in the 90s became a way to make a statement or “change momentum.”

Im not entirely sure what a fight in 2021 is supposed to mean. Most of them aren’t even real fights. Just a couple guys missing punches for about 20 seconds while holding jerseys.

All true.  And the rare occurrence of them in 2021 probably makes them absolutely authentic and more meaningful.

They may have a bigger impact on the team now then they would in the 70s to the 90s.  Because few do it.

Has to be organic.  Can't be forced goon-ery

If Eichel were to go out and fight someone tomorrow because we'll we've just sucked....need a spark.  That's dumb.

But if someone ran Hall and Eichel was the first guy in there and instantly without thinking started to retaliate and starts throwing down.....everyone sees that's real, a guy that cares and it's your star and captain; a commitment to your teammates.  You can't quantify that.

That's what's missing on this team.  Do they look like they care about each other let alone winning?  Nope.

  9. If you got guys that do what Tinordi did, or Nurse, do you really want to be the guy taking shifts off?

    Computers can't account for that.

There are 2 kinds of fights in the NHL.  The one Cozens got into where no doubt he's trying to swing momentum of the game and make his own statement.  Most likely little impact on the game.

Then there is the responses of Nurse and Tinordi.  Both very likely to have gotten both their teams just a bit more engaged.  And if both equally now have everyone's attention...again tough to know or see in game difference.

But you will never convince me otherwise that both have long term positive impacts on locker rooms and individual players.

This isn't a league of goons and we don't need any Bob Proberts we all know this.

You just can't convince me that authentic reactions like this don't matter.

Don’t post this. @SDS will be mad.

Did any of these fights change the momentum of the games they occurred in?

The answer to that question isn't in the short term.

Its not about changing the "momentum in the game."

These dudes that respond like this earn the trust and respect of teammates and send messages to other teams that if you take liberties with our guys we won't take it like the 2012 Sabres did with Miller.  That incident broke our team.

Responses like this can strengthen teams.

When did the fighting analysis become about "changing in game momentum??"

We need to put down the computers.

He's right the game doesn't need goons.  It does however need tough SOBs

Did I miss this last night?  My God when this game was great

    But the data shows....
