I've heard this wariness of the old boy network thing but I have to wonder where it comes from cause they haven't hired people from it.
All our GMs were inexperienced guys. Very inexperienced. Coaches have not been the old guys available either. Quenneville was out there. Sutter. Others. We passed on them all. Murray did try to hire Babcock but we know how that went. If this team had actually looked at old-boys they would have snapped up Lamorello the minute he fell out of favour in Toronto.
I think this thing is Pegula BS. What they really want, what they've always wanted, is people they can control and have influence over. And that's why we are where we are.
Take a look at the Florida roster sometime and compare it to the Sabres and ask yourself if the difference in the standings should be what it is?
Hint: It ain't

I think credibility with the next hire is hugely important. When things aren't going well and adversity hits. We want the players saying to themselves" he's been through this before, he know's what he's doing, we'll come out of it, if we stick with the program".

Ask yourself these questions for Ralph?

Ladies and Gents, I don't think it's happening this season.
They will lose many fans

Not only the fourth line, but that second line looks dreadful too, no 5-5 scoring from 2 lines for sure.

Jut checking in, nothing....nothing...nothing...yet?

I disagree with him not wanting to come here as someone implied above. There are only 31 NHL jobs and he is 66 yrs. old meaning there are fewer than that available to him. The location has to be appealing as well. I also wonder if the team doesn't look as bad as many on here think. He may look at it as If I can get enough say I can turn that club around pretty quick.

From Vogl in the Athletic today:
That sounds reasonably likely to have originated from sources inside the organ-eye-zation.
Sounds like a shortsighted view! Ever hear of sunk costs Terry and Kim? Keep hurting the program the rest of the year that will help down the road (sarcasm)

I think they have been terrible. Linus has been very good, and that's why we won games when he was finally seasoned and ready.
Would we be great with better goaltending? No, but much better and at least competing for a playoff spot. Now we are at the bottom of the league
If you had decent goaltending you could. Heck, we were the better team last night and lost because of goaltending
We were not the better team last night, just for starters Philly out shot attempted us 78-38

To me, this is clearly the problem:
- 1st line centre: 4 goals, -36
- 2nd line centre: 7 goals, -45
- 1st line wing: 5 goals, -40
- 2nd line wing: 3 goals, -41
- 2nd line wing: 4 goals, -24
Those are the projected ES numbers over a full season for five of our top six forwards.
Compare those to the actual numbers of the tank team
- 1st line centre: 13 goals, -19
- 2nd line centre: 11 goals, -16
- 1st line wing: 10 goals, -11
- 2nd line wing: 9 goals, -13
- 2nd line wing: 7 goals, -18
(For the record, that was Ennis, Girgensons, Moulson, Gionta and Stafford)
Our highly-paid, highly-touted forwards are not producing and they are getting caved at unheard-of levels.
EDIT: Just to depress you even more:
2021 Rasmus Dahlin: 0 goals, -70
2015 Andrej Mezsaros: 7 goals, -13
Do you believe they all just decided to have bad years, or they not as good as we need, or perhaps the system we play has any impact?

You can't win hockey games with terrible goaltending.
So if our backup goaltending was better everything would be alright? Ralph included?

The lasting image of this season for me will be Rasmus Dahlin slightly to the left of our crease, locked in table hockey pose, staring out at the blue line as the puck goes past him to an uncovered player who whacks it into the empty net.
That, or the Eric Staal glide and lean.
If you haven't seen Staal's statistics don't look.
7 blocks and 9 hits in 24 games (15+min game), playing to a MINUS 14, 55% OZS.

Nothing against the 2 guys in the shootout, but WTF is Reinhart?

Dahlin caught again, this time flat footed at the blue line.
He really should be much further along at this point- my god!

WTF was Dahlin doing

Right. That always makes little sense to me to put skill players on grind lines?
What you didn't like the Skinner usage?

My unfortunate thought as well. Talk about depressing. I'd be shocked, albeit happy, if Ralph gets let go anytime soon.
The Pegulas would be prove to very bad owners if they keep this guy around all season. BAD!!

Ralph's 7 million is sunk cost, get rid of him and stop allowing the program to be destructive. We come out ahead in the end.

Imagine if the Sabres gain Hall and lose Reinhart. Urgh
Personally, though unpopular, I'd like both, but playing in a system that they can thrive in. They are both very good hockey players.

I hate to agree. If we don't start righting the ship soon, we will be back near the start of a rebuild. We need a new, qualified, respected, and effective coach in the worst way.
This is another good reason to bring one of the experienced coaching guys we talk about sooner rather than later. Just in case there is a glimmer of a turn around in the organization and any chance to keep some valuable assets like Reinhart

I'm not sure this is actually a Pegula, I think it's just a fan account, going through the timeline/media/bio.
An incredibly cringe fan based on everything I see there tbh, very representative example of how twitter makes banal airheads believe they are unique, interesting, compellingprobably right

LOL. Probably. I thought they shut her up years ago!
All I hope is she knows something and we can end this Krueger thing now.
