What happened to the heroic captain we were sold the last 3-4 years?

It’s win/lead first and business second for the great ones. Like Josh Allen.

Okposo is and always was a fraud.

And what is your rationale for claiming Okposo was a fraud? Wins (or lack thereof)? You're going to lay that on him? Has he ever said anything publicly to give you the impression he was a fraud? Do you have some information about his interactions in the locker room? At practices?

  2. Agree. It's been McBeane's MO since they got to Buffalo. Create as much competition as possible and see who rises to the top. Mostly true when there has been no clear-cut starter at a position. There's nothing that's making it difficult to cut any of these recent WR signings before camp ends.

  3. I tend to look at this issue in two question form.

    1. Since the tank commenced, who have been the good captains on this team?

    2. What other captains in the league, because of their leadership qualities, would have made a difference in the Sabres season? (Exclude the 80-120 point producing C's because that certainly would have made a difference).

If the answer to those questions is no one then the problem is NOT the guy wearing the C.

Yea, this was all planned. There was no search for ***** and Ruff was told that he was hiring Appert. Appert wanted his video coach.

I was circling back to KA's comment about talking to 'double digit' HC candidates at Lindy's presser. Seemed like lots of activity and due diligence in a short period time. I can see now why probably 9 of those 'interviews' collectively took a grand total of 45 minutes to accomplish.

I know we're saying All Time, but the bills missed for... 17 years!! I get it's harder in football than hockey, but man, that's a looooonnnnng time.

What would happen if we hit 17 with the Sabres... I mean, at that point, the team would have to move no

    COVID crowds at the KBC

  6. After watching the ROC game last night (admittedly a small sample size) if anyone other than Johnson and Levi are on the Sabres next year the team is in for a long season. No one else looks ready to make the jump. The Amerks should be fun to watch though.

He's very lucky he has recovered to the point he has. Well, luck and hard work. I hope he can contribute to the broadcasts in some way.

I wrote for early editions of Shout! Magazine. I wrote about local and national broadcasts of Bills games. When I had to call John for an interview, I was so nervous. He made it easy. He was pleasant and didn't come off as some kind of big shot. He was sports director at Channel 7, it was the afternoon and I'm sure he was busy. We even talked Rick and my Rick mix tape. He wanted a copy so I sent one to him.

Great memories of a special time in life.

    Thanks for everything, Murph.

That's awesome PA! Must have been a blast. I remember excitedly waiting for that to show up in the mail. And my wife knowing not to bother me for a while after it did.

I loved when the Sheik was on.  Or Bobo Brazil.

And his manager Abdulla Faroof (I think that was his name?). I was partial to Domenic DiNucci (being an Italian kid). Thanks Punch .... now I feel really old. 😄

What’s the context and implication of the bolded?

I also did some Googling. It would appear that there’s some distancing, at best, and estrangement, at worst.

And I’ll allow it: It’s notable that Jessica was on record as saying that her mom had plans for her in the sports ownership/management realm, but that her tennis career would come first.

Maybe that’s still the plan. It will bear watching, I suppose.

I’ll add: Are there ways for a wealth of this magnitude to be gifted or bequeathed to the family’s next generation? There are family ownerships acrosst the NFL. But the Bills were sold out of Ralph’s estate, yeah?

There are certainly ways to transfer assets with varying tax ramifications. The tricky part is developing a strategy that still complies with NFL and NHL ownership rules (in this case).

Regarding the Bills sale, I don’t know for certain, but all signs point to the Bills having been placed in a charitable remainder trust years prior. (Different entity than the estate). Negated the capital gains tax upon the sale of the team making those dollars available to the recipient charity (mostly, if not all, the Ralph C. Wilson Foundation).

    TMI?

Bills have done this several times. Floyd was signed to rush the passer. Joe B in the Athletic has an article on this today. Vet cuts coming. $ 10.2 Mil more come June 1st ( T.White). Don't know the draft pool total needed for contracts but $ can always be moved if there's a desired player.

Mini-camp will give them an idea if the depth chart has actual quality in certain areas. They have the physical bodies now. Can they grasp the O or D ?  I'm sure with the draft picks, that was already determined with the higher selections. All part of the deal marching forward towards September. Not playing a game this week.

BB has alluded to this on more than one occasion. 'We're a long way from September'. I truly believe there will be another vet WR added via trade or FA. And will not be surprised to later learn that's it been lined up for a while (including general terms) just waiting for the cap space to open up. Beane doesn't take a crap without having a plan. We just won't know what that is for a while.
