Except he doesn’t cost us games/points.

He has a 58% on ice GF60 and he has dominant high danger GF60 at 77%

the handful of blunders stand out, but his broader impact on the ice is a net positive for a team that struggles to create net positive matchups.

he should play every game the rest of the year, and everytime housley takes him out it costs us.

he has a 58% HDCF, he’s the only defensemen on the team over 50% and he manages these #s with a near team low ozone start %

He does cost us goals, and  points/games.  He is no different than any other player. He has created lots of turnovers that cost us dearly.  The blunders are more than a handful, I need a bushel basket.

Do you have a stat for “unable to clear a forward from the front of the net”?  That is the part of his game I don’t like.  He will never be tall but he can get stronger and use leverage.   He is a work in progress.

Taking stock of what we have:

    Good goaltending tandem

Two out of three defensive pairings

Threatening top line and good fourth line

Three out six middle six players who have the ability to score and getting better defensively (TT, Mitts, Sheary)

    Good PK

Prospects on both ends who show they belong on the team

    GM with a plan

    What we need:

    Third defensive pairing

    2C

    A real PP

    A real coach

    Captain who captains

Don’t agree on the good goaltending.  The goaltending has been below average for two months.

Our middle 6 is very poor, the 3 players you named are part if the problem.  Mitts and Tage are more like top end AHL level players this season, talent is there but still boys in a mans game.   Sheary is a journeyman 3rd liner, not impressed

Toss in aging players with big salaries (Pommer,, KO) and thankful we dodged another bullet when Bergland left us.

Talent in Rochester is good but not providing any significant immediate help.

GM with plan?  - yes, a long term plan.  Don’t expect big moves until free agency starts.  He too was surprised by the team in November

Blaming the Captain is silly.  Eichel is having his best year. Slowed by an injury and maybe the strain of having to carry a woeful set of forwards once again

Skinner is not signed and he may not sign, imagine how Eichel will react if Skinner walks???

Housley could be a causality if this team quits.

  3. If there are no playoffs this year I think Phil is under intense scrutiny.   The streak tells you this team has ability,  despite  the many holes on the roster.   The fall off in play has to be accounted for, and usually it’s the coach, especially if we free fall.

I top notch, cup winning coach is out there, and that cannot be ignored.

  4. We blew a chance to get within 1 point of wild card.  We simply cannot lose to bad teams, especially at home, unless we ourselves are also a bad team.

My optimism has faded a bit after last night.   Neither goalie is playing well but I think a switch to Linus as the #1 is in order.  We might as well find out if he can do the job.

On the defense it looks like Bogo is starting to regress from the high level play we saw in the e first half of the season.  I would be playing Beaulieu over Scandy, at least it would help his trade value since he wants to either play or leave.  I’m not a Pilut fan yet.  I don’t like small defensemen.

Center is is killing us, that is well documented.  Would like to see a trade that adds a better forward into the mix.  It’s hard to fathom why Elie is playing over CJ Smith?   Would like to see Nylander at some point too.

    Yes, my optimism is fading.

ROR is a good player. He may not be a lockerroom leader, and was run out of here because fans felt he was a cancer because he wasnt happy with losing. Many thought players should/would be all for tanking to get a better draft choice and then could just turn it back on when they obtained that player. I dont blame ROR one bit and could Imagine just how tough it must have been having to play for teams who's goal isnt to win games.

Fans had NOTHING to do with it.  The decision to trade ROR was made by JBot and Phil.  Where do people get this from?

Why do do you feel sorry for ROR.  He was a big reason why the GMTM rebuild failed.

Give any GM the choice between Eichel and RoR, Eichel gets 31 votes.

Yes, unfortunately this is the long standing reputation of the franchise....save the Ray, May, Barnaby years or even further back with Larry Playfair.  Didn't Ron Wilson once refer to Buffalo as a chicken-sh*t team?  I can only think of one high draft pick since Brad May that had a mean streak (Kassian).

    Ron Wilson.  Ooohhhh. That hurts.

He should’ve just been allowed to be the Pat Kane, and put the weight on ROR to be Toews... and you don’t fix a lockerroom by trading away talent, you fix it by adding talent (Dahlin, Skinner)and winning... not by subtracting talent (ROR).

boken record... I know.... Botts ***** this thing up so bad.

I live in St Louis.  I know some people in the Blues organization.  Your hero wanted out. His stunt in front of the press on locker clean out was all part of it.  He did a similar thing in Colorado.  The guy is a flake.  Talented yes, but he has zero winning history.

He did not want to work hard enough to help turn this program around   He said it himself   He lost his passion.  I expect he will run his course in St Louis in three years too

Stamkos fought literally last night. Crosby has fought before

Toews did not fight either., he jumped a guy from behind.  Risto is no fighter.  He hits, he agitates, but his gloves stay on.

Stamkos fought Malkin last night, sure, he got close, throw two softies, and get tossed on the ice.  Not much of a fight.

    1.  Thompson would destroy Seabrook.

    2.  Housley is an ass.  Why is Carter Hutton playing in this game?  Is he out of his mind?

Seriously man, I’m 60 and I have a replacement knee, and given the choice I would much rather fight Tags than Seabrook.

We will see Tage in the 3rd period, he will have his chance with Seabrook.  I’m better there is no response.  Hope I’m wrong.

I can't get this thought out of my head.  Chicago is having a poor season and will not make the playoffs.  In the first period, Kane gets rocked by Risto and their captain jumps in and takes on our biggest and meanest player on the ice without hesitation.  Does anybody think Eichel would do that if Skinner got rocked by another team's D-man?  I don't see it happening.

Chicago has nothing to play for, yet their captain leads by example.  Our captain was -3 until just now and looked like he didn't give a crap!

Please  stop.  Eichel plays harder than anyone in this team.   Stamkos and Crosby never fight anyone either.  There are 20 other players you can point at.
