  1. Just to make it clear before I get hounded. I didn't go into teaching for the vacations or the idea of it being an "easy job." I knew before hand if you wanted to be a good teacher you would have to work hard.

I hate it when people complain that teaching isn't a "real" job because its a 10 month job, or when they complain that their tax dollars are paying for us year round (i.e. my 12 paychecks instead of 10). Well, screw you all! I've done manual labor jobs... I've done office jobs... Nothing is more "real" thank teaching. its a 24/7 job that requires lots of physical strength, stamina, mental toughness, emotional stability, and self confidence. I've busted my butt lifting stuff for a foreman, and i've done office jobs that deal with lots of money transfers. I'm not discounting your jobs, but if you can find a job more demanding than a pre k autistic teacher, which is what I am, i'll sell you a bridge in brooklyn, and yes, that includes white collar jobs just as it includes the guys taring the roads in the dead of july.

  2. I am officially a hippie.

I ordered a 2009 VW Jetta TDI, which is considered an alternative fuel car since it can run on biodiesel. That only half way makes me a hippie. The other half is that the car is on backorder and will not be in for another 2 or more months. The fact that I bought an alternative fuel car on backorder makes me more of a hippie than leonardo dicaprio or willie nelson.

HOWEVER, i will be able to drive from fayetteville, nc to buffalo and halfway back again on one tank. Eat that hippie haters!

  3. I have a sneaking suspicion that the board will be restored in short order. Something tells me that server backups are maintained at a higher interval than once per year. In any event, lets give it up to SDS for getting the board at least usable. We may not get any new members in the next 48 hours, but its back for us regulars.

  4. Sorry about the negative comments, but the first period had all of the makings of a loss. It is refreshing to see that maybe, just maybe the team is getting back to where it should be (even though we are playing Boston). After the past month or more...I'm sure there were many people felling a loss coming on as that is the way it has gone far too often lately.

negative comments are great when they're warranted. They were warranted after that first period. The sabres were just floating. The tide turned in the 2nd and now they're dominating play in the 3rd... just like it should be!

  5. The sabres got behind and battled back to take the lead. This is a game where they can fully put their recent history of 3rd period play behind them. Come out flying! Anyone know about spacek? i didn't see him go down at all, and naturally the NESN guys didn't report on it.

Do the sabres keep on rolling, go into the crapper again, or a little of both? I think the sabres can easily win tomorrow, but they're still probably a little bit of a headcase. They just have to play a smart road game, be aware in the defensive zone, and pounce on opportunities when their given (like they did last night). You know that boston will be upset, so the sabres just need to play their game. If things get out of hand, don't be too suprised if it gets ugly too.. I predict a sabres victory, somewhere in the neighborhood of 4-1 or 5-2.

  7. as for the game, i had a feeling that it would turn out the way it did, but i'm still very pleased to have watched it. I know its one game, but with all the injured guys coming back, connolly on the horizon, and the confidence back, LOOK OUT... February will be a good month for the sabres, so lets put that january BS behind us all!

  8. has anyone else been waiting for this type of prediction since, like November? i keep waiting for these guys to come out pissed off, putting d-men through the backboards on the forecheck, and skating like we haven't seen since weeks 1-4...

honestly, at this point i don't know what to expect, but you can't ask for the table to be set any better that is for sure...

I think the difference is that this team is finally pissed off. It's taken way longer than it should have, but this team is truly pissed off and its boiling over. It's not like they don't have the talent... They have enough talent to roll over the rest of the nhl any day of the week. I think that the weekend losses was the perfect storm for this group.

I do realize that the sabres have stunk for the past few weeks, but i'm guarenteeing a victory tomorrow. TAllinder's back, there's talk of shaking up the lines with paetsch, and there's an ACTUAL TIMETABLE FOR THE RETURN OF TIM CONNOLLY!

Add that to the fact that the lockerrom is boiling over, the PP is beginning to roll (yes, in those 2 weekend losses, the PP was actually a bright spot), and the trade deadline is looming. The sabres will win tomorrow night and that's all i have to say about that!

  10. i don't think they've been playing too bad. its a good road game. Don't want to jinx anything in the 3rd, because this is the spot where they were last night before choking. The PP is working, hecht must have been given a message... And Al Kotalik, after being gone for months has returned from the intersection of highways 49 and 61, learned in the sport of hockey.

as for the broadcast... Um, since when is this a DVD release of the live game with special director's commentary? zero PBP and 100% old guys remembering the past. Can't do wrong with that hot girl though!
