7pm this is a huge game for the sabres, as all seem to be now. If the sabres want to prove that they're the best, they must continue to beat the teams hot on their trails, such as the thrashers. The sabres are starting to roll on all 8 cylinders again too, so i don't really expect them to fall back now. Plus they've got some motivation from Ruff's callout about their uninspired play in the 1st period of the canes game. My only regret is that i'm again unable to watch the games! I can't wait to get home to my center ice! (i'm not complaining too much though, i got to see the caps game live). glad to see the sabres put a nice bookend to the sweep this season. I'm glad afinogenov stood up to that guy williams. Even with the crappy 1st period, the sabres are s uddenly looking scary good again.

This team took a big step backwards when tallinder went down. compound that with the injuries to briere, afinogenov, hecht, lydman, etc. and we showed our weaknesses. The team lost some games that they probably should have won had they been healthy. However, that major dropoff was still around the level of the next best teams we've played. The caps game was the first game when the entire team was back and playing in synch. We'll get better from there, and i think we'll go on an october like tear in january. If the sabres can make it through january, relatively uninjured, and with more wins, i think we're looking at one or two, at the most, poor stretches of play. We're in the middle of the long season, the part that nobody remembers a few years down the road, but the playoff push is just around the corner. I'm very excited to see what the 2nd half of the season provides. There's a game in a few hours though, against a quality opponent, so its time to get the cans ready to open...

7pm For as much as this board dismisses the hurricanes, they're always a wonderful matchup against hte sabres. I'm thinking 5-4 or something to that nature. This one will be fun, but the sabres seem to be for real again, so i really can't see them losing unless they don't show up.

8pm Well, this game could go either way... the sabres have the look of a 4-5 game losing streak, however they still have that ability to turn it on. does it happen tonight? will marty finally get a start to shake things up, and to allow a pedestrian ryan miller to think? this is the return of JP Dumont, so you know he'll be flying... although, so will briere and hecht, his old linemates. 3-2 buffalo in OT. no better way to leave the crap play behind us than with a nice OT thriller. pominville with the winner tonight...

this isn't a bad team, they're just soft. their style that won them those games won't work anymore. the rest of the league has caught up. they're going to have to reinvent themselves as the playoff team last year that would kick people's .

show some friggin grit... crash the goalie... push someone down. do something! this is a soft, weak team that will get beat, just like ottawa last year. they need to show some muscle.

i think the sabres come out huge in the 3rd... i'm very impressed with kotalik too. wow, he's been hustling tonight. a goal and an assist to show for it too.
