  1. He was unequivocal in remarks that I read in the News yesterday or Friday.  He is not inviting offers.  He is not using the media to test the market.  If an unbelievable deal comes along, he'll think about it.

    Exactly as it should be.

    Kane is the future.

I believe what he said was he's not making calls to trade Kane. He didn't mention whether he wouldn't listen to calls made to him. But overall, I do agree with you, he would have to get a knock his socks off and rub his feet on the beach while drinking an umbrella drink offer.

  2. Probably the most under hyped player in the league.

He is the player I thought we were drafting in Sam Reinhart.

Reinhart may not be flashy and his speed is concerning, but he seems to be finding chemistry on Jack's wing. Personally, I think we can do better for Jack speed wise down the road, say in 4 or 5 years.

That's when I'd look to give Sam his own line. His size also somewhat concerns me, for now. But he looks to be developing into a premier play making forward/center. Never a bad thing if you are looking to roll 3 pure scoring lines.

  3. Kane has been as advertised by Murray.

It all comes down to length of term and cost, and that is even if he wants to stay here, which none of us know if he does.

Given the unknowns and the variables involved in both his game play injury loss time and annual average of roughly 25 goals / 25 assists per season to date, I'm inclined to offer him 5.25 for 5 years.

That means no raise and carries him to 32 years old at that new contracts end. I'd be unwilling to go beyond that given the banner game he plays until we get to that point and see how he's held up.

    If he's unwilling, move him.

  4. Sabres Director of Scouting Rob Murphy was at the Tampa-Wild Game Tonight

I noticed Tampa had a scout listed at the Ducks-Sabres game.

Tampa looking for D help? Is that right?

If so I wonder if Kulikov is getting that much attention given Tampa's position in the standings.

Of course, I could have everything upside down and the Sabres are actually looking to take a peak at Minny.

  5. 3-0 in the third? I dont even want Alamo. I want those British soldiers in the Zulu movie,

    Love that movie.

The Bylsma Riddle. That is what I call the current system.

Does he not trust the players to carry it in?

Is there real adjustments being made? And not just in game but structured by opponent ad well as by our own players strengths?

I don't see it. Maybe I'm just not paying enough attention. But that old saying comes to mind: "the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result"............

  6. Sell. He's going to sell.

    But who?

    That is the question.

    Franson?

    Kulikov?

    Gionta?

And what of contracts with term, even 1 year?

    Moulson?

    Ennis?

    Gorges?

    Bogosian?

    And what of borderline RFA's?

    Foligno?

    Girgensons?

There is a great deal of dead weight on this team to be honest. If dead line deals can give equal talent potential at a different position of need, you take it.

If a deal presents itself to give up a known talent level to fill depth potential talent, you take it.

It may not appear like it, but this squad is a disaster outside of a handful of core players. In order to stay the course and maintain the objective of being a perennial cup contender changes must be made. This dead line may afford a couple of those changes without reversing what gains have been made.

  7. "What I see now is what traded for and I'm a fan of his game," - GMTM says on @WGR550 about Evander Kane #Sabres

Murray said he has not made a call to trade Kane and is not shopping him, but he'll listen to others.

I agree with him. While I'm a proponent of moving Kane for the right deal, it is hard to make a case to move him. I guess the only real concern is length and cost of next contract.

Let's see what, if anything significant, gets thrown at Murray for him.

  8. Kane > Stafford, younger, more physical and fits faster game

Kane's value is a function of the development of the 5 other power forwards on team/or in Roch (Foligno, Bailey, Carrier, Baptiste and Fasching).  GMTM is building a team with a mixuture of size, speed and skill.  We don't need 6 power forwards, we need 4, at most 5; complement those with some skill wings and two-way centers and you have your forward group.

    Great point.

And Kane and Carrier are the true left handed shots, hence LW.

Foligno I consider a grinder, just my opinion.

    Bailey and Baptiste RW.

I like Baptiste. Wish he would break out in the A and force a decision.

  9. I don't think Vegas will take Ennis.  Too much money for too little production.

Now, depending on Vegas' budget for the next couple of years, I could see them taking Moulson -- if they need to get to the cap floor, Moulson's cap hit is I believe around $2MM higher per year than his actual cash cost, so he would add value in that way, as well as perhaps 12-15 goals if he were to get a featured offensive role.

    Good points.

I wonder if Moulson's last year would hinder UFA scenario's for them given the AAV. That's why I went Ennis. You may very well be correct.
