  1. Everything in the past is inconsequential.........we can go zen on this if you like but then why have a Sabrespace cause everything will just be what it is. D depth is a problem on this team. KA needs to address that further than he has as the prospect pool for D can't make this go away for next year with his internal development plan. That's the real issue.
  2. How so? I agree that KA's plan is what is there now. Don't agree with it, but pretty sure that'll be the plan. I like Levi. I was one of the first here to say he could be a steal in that trade and said he could eventually be a star goalie. I like him a lot, but young goalies are young goalies and they take time and development and there's many that have been ruined or set back by too much too soon. Lot's of young guys thrive on competition and pressure. That's not unique. I don't see what's so special or different about Levi in that regard. I'd be much more comfortable if we were moving forward with a veteran beside him to take half the load like Boston has with Swayman and Ullmark. Comrie ain't it.
  3. Oh sure, that ear to ear smile on Ovechkin's face when Putin phoned in to his wedding was just for show. Okay. Sure. and the election was rigged................. Internet world today. Nobody believes anything even when there's facts. Whatever.
  4. Borgen's better than Stillman. That is all.
  5. Just feels so wrong that we were such a crap team and yet we gave Seattle one of their better expansion pick ups.
  6. Ya, there's a lot of talk among Bruins fans that Goalie Bob (Essensa) is a genius and the best goalie coach in the league. He might be. Have to hope younger Tkachuk demolishes older Tkachuk and Tampa still cares enough to beat the Isles Thursday. If Pitt also loses to Minnesota and we beat Detroit it won't be over just yet and the slim hope will still be there.
  7. Actually I think that was a pretty good effort and there were quite a few positives to take away from this. Unfortunately the final score wasn't one of them. Levi made big saves, key player made some big plays, we went to the paint far more than usual and looked like a team trying hard to win and willing to pay the price. This is new and encouraging. They survived the physicality but I do wish they'd initiate that more and not just endure it. Overall I liked what I saw and although they will not make the playoffs (I do think management blew it) they are a far far better team then they were at this point last season. Tuch is my favourite Sabre. He reminds me of old time Sabre heroes and he brings his best when it's toughest. A true warrior. I so desperately want him to be named captain.
  8. Oh I'm the same. I just enjoy some luxuries. I can afford the better wine (not the best wine) and the good coffee and so forth and so I do but I'm still the street walking cheetah with a head full of napalm I always was 🙂
  9. Never said YOU did. Read all the comments in the thread. There's a general anti Putin political tone that implies this was possibly a political act. I merely stated there was no evidence of that assumption. Obviously nothing makes it okay for Putin to do that but I don't believe Putin is doing that. Watch the clip above.
  10. I watch a ton of games as well. But do you not cheer for one side or the other? Do you not pick your secondary teams? I find it much more enjoyable if I'm actually invested in the outcomes. It's not the same as when your main team wins or loses. I do remember the heartbreak of Sabres playoff losses and the jubilation of wins. Upset wins were so sweet as well. Those wins and losses stick with me. It's satisfying when secondary teams win, but it's far less emotional. Still fun though.
  11. How do I know? Well, I've seen the media stories. Watch this clip. I think you will find it very interesting. (Hasek's in it too)
  12. lol, how so? Ask you the same question. What do you watch after the Sabres get eliminated? Switch "weak" with bored and maybe I'd agree with you.
  13. punk ass he is, but we could use one or two on our team.
  14. Where's the info that says this is in any way political, related to the Ukraine, or has anything to do with their government? Putin elevates Russian hockey players to national hero status. A lot of players like Putin. He's not going after hockey player's parents unless there's something very specific here.
  15. I also pick a Western team and have slightly followed Seattle all year. I also like Minnesota for the way they play and Foligno vs. Foligno in the cup would be pretty cool. Also going to cheer against Eichel. Just because.
  16. Florida has the ability to exploit most of our weaknesses so I'm not overly optimistic. Having said that however, this is possibly a defining moment for the future if they can in fact rise to the occasion, handle the physicality, and give us a solid glimpse of the future. I suspect they will have to play their best game of the year to win and Levi will have to be very good. How we defend the front of the net will be key. Wish we had someone who I'd feel confident would smack Tkachuk in the mouth. Maybe Krebs can irritate him enough he draws a dumb penalty and we score on the PP. Fingers crossed.
  17. Ya, injury prone. It's possible. I'm not sure it's true, but it's possible. Is Samuelsson injury prone? Been out twice in his first full season. I'm not sure it's a real thing but defensemen getting hurt when they play the right way is pretty common. This is why the Bruins added Orlov when they already had 7 able bodies. Defensive depth is an essential part of winning hockey and if you don't have it you aren't likely to go far.
  18. Gives me something to watch when the Sabres miss the playoffs. What do you do? Cheer for the Leafs? 11 years and no second team must be painful. haha. I came from that class. Money does buy a lot of happiness after all.
  19. Not a big fan of Italian wine and "sediment" yuck. Get a decanter. I'm actually a bit of a wine snob to tell you the truth. I actually fuss over temperature, clarity, type of glass. In the end I'm very satisfied with what I drink, but my bar for decent wine is pretty high. Same for my hockey team.
  20. This is a major point of disagreement. I'm pretty sure the Bruins would knock us out fast, probably 4 straight, but I also believe that would be a huge moment for this locker room coming together and for this group to divorce themselves from the stink of the recent history. No more talking about longest streak not making the playoffs and all that other baggage. new team, new standard, new beliefs. Think about the difference to build on. If we'd made the playoffs this year a guy like Owen Power can become a guy who never missed the playoffs rather than our previous stars and their never played in a playoff game streaks. It would have made a huge difference.
  21. I get it, you hope we become like Tampa. That'd be good, but we have a way to go yet. I don't know what you mean by "there is no bust" though. Generally making the playoffs is considered a level of success and missing the playoffs is failure. At what point do you elevate the bar to the point where the standard is indeed making the playoffs as the minimum? To me it's next year (since they likely missed this one)
  22. Are you seriously trying to imply Stillman is better than Chychrun? lol He is better than Bryson, but who isn't?
  23. I've never said that. The only time I suggested it might have been luck was Granato moving Thompson to center. I doubt they expected him to suddenly get as good as he did. I liked the idea of picking up Greenway but then he kind of sucked and wasn't what I thought he was and now he's popped two goals in but otherwise has still kind of sucked so idk about him. Time will tell I guess.
  24. Stillman? Impact? That's delusional.
  25. Of course that's possible and that was on Adams. To reiterate, just before the trade deadline you give him your absolute best offer. He signs great, he doesn't you deadline deal him (if you can for anything) then you trade for one of the goalies that teams were going to lose in expansion as we had no protected goalie worth protecting. Or you grab one off Seattle like Washington did. There were ways to shore up the position for these years that were no difficult to do. I still want a goalie this off season. I know Levi Levi Levi and maybe he's the future, but I'd still sign a veteran to play with him. It's playoffs or bust from now on.
