My daughter had a normal EEG as an infant. We split up her vaccinations. She had her first seizure in the week following. She got the measles from that one and I watched her spin around in circles for three days following, a behavior she had never exhibited before. She is Autistic and now has a very abnormal EEG, having seizures about every 4 months as she outgrows her medication. Don't tell me that what I witnessed first hand was made up.
I understand that vaccinations are for the greater good, but they do hurt a small fraction of the population and the govt knows this. They actually pay a lot of money out very quietly to families like mine who have been injured by vaccinations. Unfortunately for me, it was so quietly that we didn't find out about it until it was too late.
As to the other thing, I was actually comparing Cheney to Gore. I find them both to be opportunistic douches. I just found it interesting that you didn't like one because he makes money because he believes in global warming, but you don't care that the other one makes money because he believes that "it's every American's right to drive a big SUV." (from Meet The Press)
If vaccinations aren't hurting a small population of children, then why is the government paying damages to an even smaller population of families of those kids?
It just sounds conspiracy theory-ish to me. Why would the government be paying anyone off regarding vaccinations/autism? What's in it for them?
who says they are?
See above.

Sorry to hear of your child as well. I wasn't making assumptions (well, maybe I was), just relaying the direct relationship I saw between my daughter's behaviors and her vaccinations.
Here's a bit of what I wrote to taro after the thread was closed last week
...I personally believe that there was something going on with my daughter before her vaccinations, but they definitely triggered something. That study (1998 Lancet) pisses me off, because until they know positively what causes autism and seizures (often seen together), I don't want them to rule anything out. I don't want one faulty study to cause someone to dismiss vaccinations altogether. Even though the preservative may not cause anything, they may have other effects that we don't know about. For my wife and I, there is no doubt (even if we're wrong :D )...

Sorry about your daughter. I have an autistic child as well but nothing as severe as what you're going through.
You seem to be making a lot of assumptions regarding causation.

Also, make it so that once you hit a certain age, you need to take a road test every 5 years(70 or 75???)
Sunday afternoon I was on Grand Island Blvd just north of Fantasy Island and came across this scene just after it happened:
An elderly woman had "fallen asleep" at the wheel, drifted off the right side of the road, ripped off her oil pan and exhaust when she "passed over" a sewer entrance, then drove/coasted another 100-150 yds(!) through brush and between trees before her car died from lack of fluids. No skid marks it seems she "slept" even through that bumpy terrain until the car stopped on its own. We stopped to help and she got out of her car, said "I fell asleep - it happens all the time". She said her brother lived right around the corner and she was going to walk there. We called the cops and by the time the police showed up she was gone. We talked to the cops and he said "I think I know who you're talking about - she was driving around her son's apartment parking lot last weekend hitting dumpsters (plural)" Then she comes wandering back and I point her out to him and he says "yeah that's her".
I hope he took her license but somehow I bet she's out there "driving" right now.

It's Thursday, Thursday, gotta complain on Thursday. (Rebecca Black style)
It's Friday, Friday, close this thing down on Friday...

I would rather hear the word "Daddy" instead of "Uncle". Just plain sucks <_<
Spare me the congratulations, please...
Sounds like somebody needs to keep their wife away from their brother.

Just because she's already had 30% of her recommended daily allowance of protein - doesn't mean I don't need to eat my breakfast.

Anyone ever had the timer set so short that the light turns off while still on the throne?

I feel your pain, but I'm still jealous of you guys... we don't get any regularly scheduled performance reviews where I work, and two of the last three years we've been asked to forgo our cost-of-living (hah) increases of 2-3%. So, my last raise was Sept. 2008. We just applied for a promotion because I've since accumulated 3 more years of experience in my position, taken on the responsibility of training another full-time employee, and finished my Masters degree (in my field). And for all of this, my boss can request a 4-8% increase, tops. I love my job, but at this rate I'll never get out of debt.
I just gave a guy (who I would kill to keep) at his annual review a 2.0% raise because it was the most I could give him.
-
It's an absolute must. You need to make sure you stay on the same time frame for the next raise that rolls around. If you keep letting them push it back on you by a month or two, sooner or later they'll push it back a year.
This (sort of) happened to me in my current job.
When I accepted it, the salary wasn't where I wanted it to be and they were at the limit of what they were willing to offer. They generally do performance reviews (and subsequent raises) annually so I requested an extra review at the 6-month point after I had proven myself to bring the salary closer to what I wanted. I got the review at 6 months but when I went to sign it, the "next review" was for a year later instead of at my 1-year anniversary as I had negotiated (and unfortunately failed to get in writing). I wasn't willing to push it very hard as I had only been there 6 months and the job market was very poor at the time. Now all my reviews/raises are 6 months behind what I thought I was getting.

Stems.
Sliced banana peppers, cherry peppers, jalapenos - no matter the brand. It seems like 50% of the slices have either a little piece of the stem or sometimes a giant honking whole stem. How hard would it be to cut that end off and discard it before sending them through the slicer?

Why is Carolina still in the playoff hunt...
Why does the NYS Government suck...
WHy does the federal government suck...
Why am I going to get flagged for terrorism for posting this...
Why do people have droids that automatically post on facebook where they are ( I am really not that interested)...
How are my roomates still in pharmacy school when they can't even get up for a class at noon, let alone one at eight AM ( you should really double check your Rxs if they are going to be your pharmacist)
Why do some people cross the street extremely slowly even though they know you have a green light...
And that is what grinds my gears....
Why do you have quotes instead of an apostrophe in your username?

OK I'll play your game.
More better?
Maybe if I post just one?
Nope.
This was more of a complaint than a cry for help. Check it:

Sure, but they wouldn't strap us on a Barcalounger, rubber-band our private parts so we can't pleasure ourselves and make us watch them buy bulk chocolate pretzels. They'd eat us.
You haven't lived if you haven't pleasured yourself while your private parts were rubber-banded.

Guess who's sick again? Yup, this guy.
Is it possible to not have an immune system?
It's immune deficiency syndrome, and it's acquired somehow, I think.

7 Scientific Reasons a Zombie Outbreak Would Fail (Quickly)
Whew~!
Plus, if we look at zombies as a species, they are pretty much designed for failure. Their main form of reproduction is also their only source of food and their top predator. If they want to eat or reproduce, they have to go toe to toe with their number one predator every single time. That's like having to fight a lion every time you to want to have sex or make a sandwich.- 1

Just this year my sister came down with breast cancer, my uncle with prostate cancer, my mother was just diagnosed with leukemia a few weeks ago, and on Monday my wife's two aunts were trucked over by a landscaping truck in PA.

Condoms. Are they really that hard to use?
The harder it is, the easier it is.

The company used to provide pastic untensils in the various lunch rooms. Apparently they have stopped. I cannot find a fork so I am using a spoon. It would have been nice if the higher ups would have mentioned something so I could bring in my own fork.
In an attempt to go "greener", our company has done the same thing except they provided a drawer full of actual silverware. You use what you need and then throw it in the sink. The cleaning crew loads and empties the dishwasher for us. Sounds great!
Except we're about a month in and now the drawer is always empty and select employees always have a pile(!) of dirty utensils at their desks. Really? You can't just throw the darn things in the sink and find them magically clean in the drawer again tomorrow morning?

In any case thanks for handling this small disagreement over what I'm sure is a touchy subject for you with grace and class. I'd hate to see how something like this would have gone on "the other board".
Yesterday they were calling each other idiots because half of them said they would rather have the current Bills QB than Tom Brady.
