  1. Krebs is a locker room favorite on a team with a terrible culture. Putting him in the doghouse even if he was a good player is the easiest way Lindy can put the whole team on watch. He’s not a good player and doesn’t excel at anything. Guy is going to get 1yr minimum QO until he’s gone or has a miraculous turnaround.

enough ***** has happened that the Eichel burden is off of him from my perspective

I feel like all the groupthink and armchair GM's on here have anointed our 4th as being set in stone when as far as I know, the team has said nothing at all to that effect.

These new guys are all making tweener salaries (between press box and playing). On a 23 man roster, any one of them can be alternated in and out of the lineup. As I said in another thread, Greenway can easily be dropped to the 4th line in favour of a legitimate scoring threat.

And all that says nothing about the inevitable injuries we'll be sure to get.

In short, between injuries and the team likely carrying 14 forwards... as long as Kulich comes in hot in training camp, he's on the team.

Because it’s Lindy and he wants his tools and Kulich is more of the same whereas the new acquisitions fit a role

  3. The zegras trade is interesting rumor. Did the GM go make a framework of a trade just for shakeup purposes and the owner veto it because it didn’t have the right feel?  Is that really Adam’s just following his owners orders?  Or does KA actually have a spine and thinks the trade is needed and the owner is undermining him?  I could see it both ways, but I’m not seeing how a Zegras acquisition is some sort of must have. Or the send back becomes a player like Quinn who the owner is especially fond of. Interesting to say the least, Zegras has a pile of baggage with him and next year is the time to bring that in, not sure if this upcoming training camp is the time for that.

Nothjng matters until we have a coaching staff who is respected by their team. Need to see that shift first

  4. Staying below the cap until the toxic culture is fixed is a very smart thing to do. Whenever we get halfway thru a season with a real team in place we will have the cap space capital to make the moves really necessary to put us over the top. Until then, no 7M dollar player is transforming the culture of the locker room on their own.

I was highly critical of Murray’s lack of attention to any human factors. Botterill came to him recommended by the league you can’t hate on him there. He had some really bad coaches that messed everything up. In theory Krueger was exactly the people focused coach needed to fix that, in reality the guy didn’t work. KA had such a miserable mess to clean up from all those fiascos. And I give him benefit of the doubt the owner doesn’t want to get burned by another coach until he sees failure. And even if I predicted last seasons failure with Granato a year before, it wasn’t until last year did he lose the room. And they cut ties and broke the curse.

nothing matters because they broke the curse. With that cap space in hand we will be able to do some big moves and the team culture turnaround will make those actually fruitful for a change.

  5. refs actively inserting themselves into this game. Disgusting. Their union is too strong

Defense is bad. Historically bad.  AZ hasn’t scored in 3 straight drives in nearly 20 years lol

Josh had the jitters. Offense has been fine outside the dumb fumble

Question about Connolly…was he injury prone before we acquired him from the islanders?  If not I think this was another shrewd trade by Darcy

Concussions are different. One bad one is enough no matter the player

    I will.

That team is so close, but it has moved in the wrong direction this summer.

If they take the final step, it will be because of McDavid and Draisaitl, not what they’ve changed around them.

If those two weren’t majorly injured for the last three games they win the cup

And now this too.   Interesting day in hockey.

Would going from the CHL to NCAA to AHL be the new preferred pipeline for players?  How would the NHL teams facilitate this? Would throw a link into the 4 years and UFA carve out right now

if a college near Buffalo would be a temporary destination, which would get it?  Niagara?

I  believe we only missed the playoffs by 1 point in 2023. So you believe granato and not goaltending cost us one point.

I am thrilled to have lindy as coach

I agree. But we would’ve been swept and more distraught than missing it

Murray wasn’t a good GM but I think Botts is what effectively killed 2 separate cores.

Botts either overtly or inadvertently caused a leadership crisis in his first year as the GM by not, likely promised by Murray, fulfilling ROR’s role as the next captain. Instead he wanted to make Eichel the captain akin to Crosby. Which obviously created some drama, perhaps only subconsciously, between Eichel and ROR. I don’t think Eichel hated ROR and I don’t believe ROR hated Eichel but I have a sneaking suspicion that deep down ROR was subconsciously angry at Eichel. (This coming from the fact ROR was apparently very unhappy when they skipped him for captain for Landeskog) The captaincy seemed to be an important factor to him and had he been given the C here without ordeal; all three of Eichel, ROR and Reinhart are likely still here. Botts gifting Eichel the C based on his talent only made him more of a messianic figure who couldn’t be touched. Eichel has leadership qualities for sure, but he was still too young and headstrong to be a good captain of a team.

If ROR becomes captain without fuss, the hypothetical GM would likely move Kane due to his bad influence on the team. We want the players to follow ROR’s example and finding solid vet pieces to fit around the three would have been far more effective in guiding the young ones. Lehner is also a goner due to his drinking problem so the GM would need to redo the defense and goaltending.

That would of certainly been a happier timeline

ROR can only blame himself for the captain thing
