Expect they'd send either Hinostroza or Clague down if they feel UPL has earned a roster spot.  With Vinny being the more likely Amerk as they'd be playing w/ fire having only 6 healthy D.

Until 2 weeks ago would've had no issue sending Krebs down, but he's playing well lately.  Neither Quinn nor Peterka will see the AHL again unless it is clear the Sabres won't make the playoffs on deadline day AND the Sabres really wanted to give them some more playoff experience.  (Can't see that being the case, but it's remotely possible.)

(Would still lean toward Anderson getting a mysterious ailment that put him on IR but expect Adams & Andy are too honorable to game the system like that.)

I see zero chance they waive Hinostroza. And sending Clague down leaves them with only 6 D. I doubt it’s even a consideration. They’ll send UPL down as he needs to play as much as possible.

But why punish him to playing well? I would keep all 3 goalies. Anderson can play the odd game here and there and UPL can be 1A and Comrie 1B.

It’s not punishing, it’s the reality of pro hockey/contracts/roster limits. And let’s be real, he has a sub .900 save percentage. He’s been inconsistent at best. He’s hasn’t really played his way onto the team.

And you can’t keep 3 goalies unless you’re prepared to send down Krebs or Quinn or Peterka.

The plan was always to first give Comrie the opportunity to establish himself as an NHL #1 while giving UPL a ton of work to accelerate his development to the point where he could seize the job when an opportunity presented itself.

    Last 5 starts UPL: 4/1, 2.82, .918

    Last 5 starts Comrie: 1/4, 4.00, .864

Comrie is coming back up regardless when the conditioning streak is over. What happens at that point really appears to be in UPL’s hands.

I think this is more of a talking point than an actual difficult decision. UPL goes down when Comrie finishes his conditioning stint. He has to play.

Ok but my comment was about Comrie’s entire stint in Rochester.  He’ll probably be an upgrade for Houser but how many starts is he taking from Subban? Either way it’s happening.  Hopefully Eric plays well.

He should be better than Subban, hopefully. I didn’t like how Subban played against Utica the other night.

He’s listed as a scratch tonight. I’ve always been under the impression that waivers doesn’t remove you from the roster immediately. Unless there’s a loophole or something I’m unaware of.

Sounds like there may be something called “Waivers Non-roster”. Never heard of it before, but would be applicable here.

The SABRES have him off the roster.

Will trust THEM knowing their roster more than a 3rd party website.

His CAP HIT for the day remains, but HE is gone.  He does not count against the 23 man limit.

He's been waived, he's off the Sabres roster.  There are 23 healthy players on the roster.  Fitzgerald appears to bethe spare healthy D & Hinostroza and Asplund appear to be the spare healthy Fs.

Comrie & Jokiharju are still on IR.

Pilut has to clear waivers to play in Ra-cha-cha.  Whether he does or doesn't will be known at noon.

He’s not off the roster until he clears and is assigned. Players clear waivers all the time but remain with the team. Capfriendly still has him on the roster.

I think Joki is still on IR. So Clague and Fitz are now D 6 and 7.

Right, but Pilut is still on the roster until tomorrow. Just placing someone on waivers doesn’t remove them from the roster until 24 hours is up. Unless I’m mistaken on the rules.

Required. Sabres were over the roster limit with Power, Lyubushkin and Bryson all healthy.

They chose Fitzpatrick and Clague over him.

This doesn’t clear him from the roster until tomorrow, no? He’s on the roster until he gets assigned or claimed.

I guess it depends on the roster.  Maybe Pilut goes down.   I wonder if DG thinks he’s the 7th best D in the organization at this point.

They waived Pilut, but I don’t think that removes him from the roster until he clears tomorrow.

Clague is definitely staying for a while, but I thought another move is still needed for Bryson.

Two games in a row they got their butts handed to them.

Yeah I’m starting to think they’re just not very good this year. And it’s simple to see why. They lost:

    Quinn

    Peterka

    Ruotsalainen

    Jankowski

    MacInnis

They replaced all of that scoring with… nothing. They didn’t sign a single proven forward other than Sheahan, who quit on the team. You can’t lose all of that scoring and replace it with 18 & 19 year old rookies. It doesn’t work. Quinn and Peterka were the exceptions in how quickly they excelled.

In addition, the goaltending has been just awful. It doesn’t matter who plays. UPL, Houser and Subban have all been bad.

The defense was supposed to be the strength, but I’ve found Priskie, Clague and Davies to all be disappointments. Appert talked about these signings in the summer, and having a dynamic defense that moves the puck up ice and provides offense. But they really haven’t done that at all. Their best defenseman is Bartkowski, who they grabbed mid season.

Add in the 28th ranked penalty kill for good measure. I’m honestly shocked they have a winning record, but I don’t expect that to last long.

Looks great on the organization when the scrubs want out.

Excellent work by KA on this one.

You have to be joking. Sheahan is a dummy, and he looks like a quitter. The Sabres signed him to a 2 way deal, told him he very well may end up being a veteran leader in Rochester. And the Sabres did exactly what they said, and this loser bailed on the team. Good riddance.

So, what are the odds he gets a QO this offseason?  Slim and completely non-existant?

You've watched him a lot more than most.  What happened to him?  Did he just stop developing or was he unable to adjust to the organization's higher tempo offensive thrust?  When he was starting out, looked like he might develop into that PITA to play against that the Sabres so often lack.

Lack of any skill or attribute that sets him apart, and he rarely even plays like an agitator.

I haven’t seen Sheahan or Bjork in an Amerks jersey, but both should be very good contributers at that level. If not, send them to Cincinnati or lend them elsewhere.  I want the vets in Rochester to be positive examples for the youngsters.

Established NHLers like them don’t get sent to the ECHL. And they couldn’t, anyway, without their permission.

I agree with those online saying it only really makes sense if there’s a trade coming. Otherwise it’s another 12th/13th forward indistinguishable from our other fringe NHLers.

Or maybe he called Kevyn and said he wanted to be here and there’s going to be a 20 min embedded Buffalo thing about it who knows

Malone got hurt last night.  Biro is hurt. Girgensons is hurt. C depth is quite bad right now, so looks like a needed move.

  16. I’ve made my opinions on him quite clear. I don’t think he’s very good. But I have nothing against him, and wish him well. Honestly hope he does great and the Amerks get Subban as starter the rest of the way.

Thought Davies going down was due to Jokiharju returning.

Expecting this is due Okposo not being fully available & them having no healthy 13th F.

Wonder who gets the call up?  Sheahan is the veteran down there.  Biro has been on fire and earned it.  Somebody else maybe?

Even with Jokiharju returning, they didn’t need to clear a spot for an additional forward. Hopefully no recall.
