  1. Let’s all be honest, no top names are coming here to a team that hasn’t made the playoffs in 13 seasons. Stamps is wanting to win cups not be excited to finally make a playoff appearance.

I’m not even being negative I just believe that’s the reality of the situation. We could however find some decent vet players who are excellent role players.

  2. If we go into this season with the roster as is with rookies sprinkled in again it will be another long season. We need toughness, grit, backup goalie worth a damn, rugged defensemen and definitely need to upgrade Skinner on the top line. He wouldn't be on any teams top line in these playoffs. Adams has his work cut out for him and hasn't addressed those needs yet and it's going into year 5 so hopefully 5th times a charm?

He’s hit the 2 coaches mark and he’s hitting 5 years this year. Especially cause you’d expect to fall on the below average side of things considering the severely below average performance, nonetheless we reach his likely endpoint if we miss this coming season

I hope I'm wrong and all Adams needs is a HC the caliber of Lindy Ruff to make things work.

I’m not trying to convince you of anything on Adams. TW posted that GMs don’t get fired that quickly and you replied that you disagree. Sorry then, what was it about his post that you were disagreeing with?

I don’t think it takes 5 years for a GM to turn around a franchise and I would lose no sleep is Adams was fired today. For now though, I have more faith in Adams figuring this out than I have in Pegula getting it right on his 5th GM.

You wrote a reply, I replied to your statement that I disagree with your take that. Now I'm not really sure what you're talking about, I might be lost in translation here.

I don't think he was expressing an opinion on Adams level of success.  He was pointing out that GM's don't get fired as often as people think (certainly not at the same rate as head coaches).

I've lost a lot of faith in Adams going back to July 1, 2023.  I can't understand, though, how anyone would think the best option is for Pegula to pick another GM.  The best option for now is to hope that Adams, who I think is clearly a bright guy, has learned from his mistakes and properly course corrects this off-season.  I'm skeptical, but I prefer to see what Adams does in partnership with Ruff over having Pegula making a change.

I never once said anything about GM's being fired at the same rate as head coaches.

I can't understand how anyone can say we need a 5th year to see what this GM can do. Also you say Adams is "clearly" a bright guy like it's fact, I guess we just see it differently and that's cool. Not everyone agrees with my take and I get that, I just don't know what I need to see in year 5 of the Kevin Adams experience that I haven't in years 1-4? I hope he does well obviously and we turn it around . He finally gets to show what he can do with a legit HC so we'll see.

Teams don’t fire GM’s that quickly. Pegula gets more hate around the league for how quickly he has changed course, not for poor hires.

The average tenure of an NHL GM is roughly 5.5 years and they normally get to hire 2.2 coaches before being dismissed.

I'll agree to disagree and 13 seasons of no playoffs is absolutely insane considering half the teams make it. I don't know what more we needed to see from Murray, Botteril and now Adams but I guess some still believe in him apparantly.

That’s actually not been true till Adams. Say what you want about the people he has hired but he hasn’t just done nothing as the team has lost and underperformed.

Not sure what you mean, 4 years of Tim Murray, 3 years of Botteril, going on 5 years of Adams.

Hagel, who they didn’t even offer a contract to has done OK.

Sheesh, there have been so many I forgot about him. Evander Kane as well if you want to go back some years. We truly are a farm team for other top organizarions and people wonder why it's been so negative around here at times, imo it's much deserved.

So was at the Amerks game and forgot to DVR the Panthers/Bruins game. Just read the box score and couldn't believe what I saw. Florida 6 goals, 4 by ex-Sabres. I mean, just wtf has been going on in Buffalo? Never seen so much ineptitude for so long.

Just read this after I made my post. We are def on the same page brother.

Zadorov was great in the Vancouver/Oilers game also. Ullmark last year for the Bruins and the ***** show never ends.

  10. I really liked the suggestion by another poster of trading 1 or 2 of Rosen, Kulich, Savoie or Östlund. Most of these guys are similar play styles with Kulich and Östlund being more 2 way type of players but I’d prefer to keep Savoie and Östlund.

The thing is has Rosen and Kulich done enough to garner a top line LW (which I think is a must)? I feel like it would also take our 1st round pick as well.

A lot of the hate we have for the Leafs stems from stuff like this that aren’t even on the ice.

Have you ever gone to a Sabres/Toronto game here at home? They act like complete douchbags and it's even worse now that we're trash and can't even do anything about it. It stems from their fans coming into our building and acting like tools. If you've never gone to a game against the leafs at home, you'll come back with a different attitude.

Eh, I’m certainly not sad but it doesn’t have much baring since he’s already won a Cup.

Perhaps we’ll get lucky and Tavares will get bought out and sign a cheap deal here to be our 3C for a year or two and want vengeance on his hometown team. 🙂

Yeah but at least now it's not multiple cups. That's wishful thinking considering Tavares would have been the leading scorer on our team but I agree perhaps we'll get lucky for once.
