I try my best to be realistic but my sense is there are deep problems with this team behind the scenes. Hearing that McDermott had his hands in the 13 seconds is scary. These type of problems often play out in the season when the stress is really ratcheted. If this team fails on the same way we have to make changes. And it potentially could get ugly quick. I hope I’m wrong. If Tua can stay healthy, Miami has a good chance to take the division this year. Like I said… i hope I am wrong.

It’s a mix for me. He was not exactly a likable guy. But at the same time we have become a feeder program to help teams win the cup. So it reminds me of being trapped as a fan to an unprecedented series of dysfunctional management and a passionate sports town that is cursed.

There is no doubt with an emphasis: The Buffalo organization is criminally dysfunctional. Eichel was a genius to get out. Nobody should ever boo him again. I think he opened the door for many other top players to get out of terrible organizations.

Buffalo sports teams are stupid but we also have bad luck and the most ridiculous things happen. I don’t think either team will ever win a championship.

The strange nature of sports. Vegas in almost no time in its existence wins a cup and other cities like us languish indefinitely and can only dream.

This team is about to come apart at the seams. Too much drama. Lots of talent but my gut tells me the wrong coaches on the offense side especially. Cincy and KC are much better than us with superior coaching and the division and 2-3 AFC teams all got significantly better. The window is not closed but it is an uphill climb now.

I admit I am jealous of Vegas. They exploded onto the scene and have been nothing but a successful organization ready win a cup (already). Meanwhile my fandom has spend 5 decades in virtual obscurity and dysfunction outside of a few seasons in the early 80's, late 90's, and mid 2000's. Unreal.

Exactly. The west is much weaker. The same problem the Bills face. The AFC is loaded vs the NFC.

One lesson for Buffalo is the difference in playoff hockey. Florida is putting on a clinic in their dump and chase style and cutting down in turnovers and errors. It is everything we were atrocious at last year. We have a long way to go.

That is so messed up Eichel and Reinhart might both be in the finals at the same time. One of them is winning the cup 2 years removed from our mess. Unbelievable. I can’t bare to watch Eichel carrying the cup. It just seems to add to the humiliation and frustration.

The success of Reinhart, Eichel, and Montour definitely highlights just how dysfunctional the Sabres have been run. We are literally the outlier of how bad it can get proven by the record for playoff futility. Hopefully a new day is dawning.

Eichel looks like he is an elite playoff performer. It’s a shame we could not make it work. Shows just how bad of a dysfunctional organization we have been versus a team like Vegas. No other way around that.

It really shows you what you need to win in the playoffs. The regular season and the playoffs are much different. You have to have an element of toughness and nastiness.

Toronto fans must be ecstatic.

The Bills had a three year window and didn’t get close. It’s going to be way harder now.
