Penalty kill Sabres. What could possibly go wrong?

This team passes up gift shots SO often

God awful penalty for Tuch to take and of course it ends up in our net because our penalty kill BLOWS this year. Single-handedly costs us numerous games this year.

This is probably Buffalo’s best defensive performance this year so far, especially considering the firepower on the Rangers. Holding them to 12 shots so far is great. 20 more to keep it up.

When the games started to matter most, the past 10 days, the Sabres have responded by losing 5 of their last 6. The moment was too big for this team, which isn’t totally unexpected honestly. It isn’t just tonight for doom and gloom, it’s the last 10 days.

They were pretty bad during the Housley years too, but this current crop of coaches, especially the asst coaches have ZERO idea how to fix the defensive zone play and the penalty kill. There has been absolutely no improvement in these areas from game 1. To me, that screams coaching inadequacies.

Take this team out back and put them down. Embarrassing the city for another year.

I would imagine next year UPL will be here and hopefully they bring in a legit #1 ( however unlikely that is). And then hope those two can hold the fort for a couple seasons until Levi is hopefully ready for NHL play.

Pens have won 5 of their last 6 Sens have won 5 of their last 6 Isles have won 3 of their last 4 Fla have won 3 of their last 4 Sabres have lost 4 of their last 5 Sabres not getting hot at the right time.

Horrible night for Sabres all around. Isles, Pens, Fla all pick up two points. The climb up is getting steeper and steeper.

And that’s why the playoffs are at least a year away for them still.

And of course the Pens come back from down 4-0 to win in OT

Whoever is in charge of the penalty kill is also in charge of face offs clearly.

I think it won’t be until 2023-2024 season where we see his full potential. Not expecting a lot this year since he doesn’t know the system and there won’t be a lot of practices with the crazy schedule the rest of the way. Hopefully it’ll be enough to stick around. If not, teams are always looking for grit at the trade deadlines. Cozens wasn’t injured, he lost his blade and couldn’t stand up.
