  1. I'd refine that to say he's an all-star member of a pretty big team. He's gone beyond the initial idea that he'd be happy to collect an assist on someone else's goal. But he's not the only one who's been hotter than a firecracker. Canalside and the Medical Sector, among other developments, are not Terry's doing, even if the national media often lumps the waterfront improvements onto Terry's resume.

Agree. I was not meaning to slight anyone else.

  2. Excellent points and very well stated. This is why I made the original comment about Coller. He's certainly entitled to his opinion and may even be proven correct about the trade but the way he was carrying on like a petulant child was ridiculous. The Sabres certainly never treated Pysyk like "garbage". He just didn't fit GMTM's vision. Nothing more, nothing less. Move along, Coller.

One must consider Coller may be suffering WGRitis. It's curable fortunately once you find employment more compatible with discussions rather than pontificating for ones own ego. It's quite remarkable that being in media elevates people's knowledge beyond those who are in the profession and getting paid or not paid depending on their evaluations.

  3. I think if GMTM really wanted either of them, he very well could've sent their teams a 5th rounder. But, he didn't. He must have other plans.

Agree. I have no doubts teams seek out the best deal which means our GM knew these rights could be traded for.

  4. Not sure I'm on board paying Stamkos what I think he'll get if he leaves Tampa. He is a great player but he is not a guarantee to bring us to the promised land. I was all in on giving ROR what we did but Stamkos I think we can build around what we have without tying ourselves up financially. If we hadn't made the moves we did last year I may say go for it.

  5. Trading #8 for Fowler is like getting #8 for Bogo - not similar in style, but similiarly 3/4 dmen not top 2.  Risto was a #8, would you trade him for #8?  Fowler is worth a Girgs and a 3rd, or something along those lines, not #8

    Agree.

  6. I love how exceptions are used to explain the rule.

The Sabres took a calculated risk, nothing more. One well worth it considering Vesey is a far cry from the third round pick he was originally and if the Sabres sign him, his value dwarfs that of the 76th overall pick they gave up for the chance.

There is extremely little downside to the Sabres with this trade. Virtually none, actually.

    GO SABRES!!!

Thank you. I'm not at all sure he will sign with us but I would definitely paid what we did to be able to at least try to. For those say I g wait until August and it costs nothing well that is a bigger gamble and the third round pick is as long a shot than signing him is.

  7. I wouldn't trade Rasmus Ristolainen for anything short of a deal involving Connor McDavid. Jack Eichel is a big boy, he can score on his own or with Reinhart. I also would not trade Jake McCabe plus #8.  Why? Because the Buffalo Sabres don't need to find Jack's winger right now immediately. This has become an odd obsession around here. Jack scored 24g and 56points as a 19yr old NHL rookie on a team that had a new coach and 4 new forwards in the top 6 alone. I don't need to gut my defense to add a winger to a guy who frankly could probably do just as much with Zemgus on his wing as opposed to Eberle with a gutted defense core. We have 1 serviceable LHD after this season on the roster in Jake McCabe, trading him for a winger when our pipeline is so glutted with wingers one of them is bound to work seems short sighted.  I love Eberle and if I could trade Pysyk and something for him I would.  I might even trade #8 for him, but Ramus is a non starter and McCabe being in there would mean I want Edmonton to overpay me because after McCabe goes I have 3 holes to fill on the left within the next year and at best 1 guy in the pipeline who might do that (Guhle). We should not trade from a position of weakness because we have built up this idea that Jack Eichel needs a winger. Jack is a good enough hockey player he can play with anyone competent.

    I like your thinking here.

  8. I'm surprised at the amount of people including WGR staff that take this stuff serious. He ain't goin nowheres.

I'm not surprised by anything the WGR staff says or takes seriously. Clowns need to talk about something.

  9. Great fighter, and draft dodger......

As a veteran I have no disrespect for his standing up for his beliefs in fact I admire his courage in doing so. I served during the Vietnam war and it is with regret that we ever got into that war. Wave your flag if you want.

  10. Talk about damning with faint praise. There's a reason I want 3 new defensemen in our top-4 for next season :)

To your second point, I don't think his level of play was anywhere near Risto's. We're talking a totally different galaxy.

I'm positively giddy. Even if we don't end up with him, the more defensemen there are on the trade market, the better it is for us.

Sorry but I think that's a very small galaxy. While I agree Risto is young and very good I think you are under appreciative of Bogo. I would by no means trade Risto and have said for the right deal I would Bogo but last season he was much better than I think you're giving him credit for. JMO

  11. Well, according to Friedman they want a Dman. I know my rep for hating Bogosian may get this dismissed, but does he not check every single box for what a guy like Roy would look for in a defenseman? I bet that's who they'd want from us in a swap.

In spite of your dislike for Bogo name two better defenseman on our team? I think he is clearly last season at least our second best and competitive for our best overall last season.
