  1. I think I'm about a hundred posts deep and I've enjoyed my time here. I'm actually a member of a college football site and constant fighting and negativity has made it were I probably won't watch my team this year(mostly because we are going to suck). To me this site is completely different. Here it's solid analytics, with little negativity. My only complaint is if I'm in the conversation please don't ignore me or my thoughts just because you perceive me as a noob. So all and all keep up the good work guys and girls.

  2. I'm not really interested in any of them (maybe a goalie, but just to fill the spot.)

This team is going to be a lot different his coming year already with no other major moves, I'm more than willing (and happy) to see what the current changes bring...then make moves after evaluating that.

This is where I am at with the whole thing. I want to see what this team can do, now that dfl is not the mission statement. Then make the necessary trades when DB has a better understanding of who is part of the plan going forward. This year is about learning the new system and building chemistry. If we truly want a contender for the next ten years. We have to be patient and build these players properly. Then you add veterans to complement our core. Just get me a goalie.

  3. Going back to a previous discussion about dealing the #21 pick to Columbus, if Columbus called the Sabres and offered up the #8 pick for example:

    To Buffalo:

    #8 in 2015

    #68 in 2015

    Kerby Rychel

    To Columbus:

    #21 in 2015

    #51 in 2015

    Mark Pysyk

    Marcus Foligno

do you advise Tim Murray take the deal? Is it out of balance? What would be needed to balance out the deal if you feel it is slanted one way or the other?

I'd be fine with this. Seems pretty even.

  4. Just want to be the first to chime in here with this choice. All I want next in the draft is Tyler Benson. I have been keeping track of him for a couple years now and the kid is impressive. Has everything you would in a hockey player. Size, speed, creativity, and a wicked shot. Plus this year as a rookie, he held up a bad team in the Giants and almost got them into the playoffs. I look for a big leap in his progress this year and maybe even challenging for a top three overall pick.

  5. Both teams come away from trades thinking they're the takers in most situations. There is no world where a death stare over the phone is going to convince another team to give 2-3 more valuable assets than they should.

Lmao that's why I see GMTM as a Skype man. Death stare through the internet. But in all seriousness your right. I'm just ready to get max value for our assets. No more of this who got the better end of the trade, cause the answer is we did.

  6. You're probably not getting Bennett or Perron on their own for 21... Let alone both.

Your probably right. But when it comes to trades, their are two types of partners givers and takers. As a Sabres fan I am no longer willing to be the giver. Now is the time for zfg cutthroat negotiations. Basically I'm at the point that if you want something from us, your going to have to pay.

  7. The Pens have little organizational depth since year-after-year they trade away top-3 draft picks to acquire players at the trade deadline.  That's why they want a 1st rounder this year if they can swing it.  They're desperate to get some "home grown" youth into the organization.  We have tons of picks and prospects (and cap space), but I don't think the Pens have anyone worth #21 that they'd be willing to part with.  It'd have to be a multi-player deal of some sort (with the Bylsma compensation factored in as a small part of the deal).

Thanks for responding. ^This is what I have been thinking. What do they really have thats worth our other first. IMO nothing. If they want a 3rd round pick or something like that so they can feel better about themselves, then fine. But thats all I'm willing to give up.

  8. Malkin?

Honestly, I think this might be a possibility. It kinda seemed this year that Geno was over the pens and the pens were over him. The question is what else would it take beyond the 21st pick?

Really, if they want that pick what else do they really have? Beau Bennett, thats all I can think of. Maybe Bennett, Peron, and Bylasma for the 21st.

  9. A little story I have about video games. At different points in my life, I've been quite the addict. During my first marriage, I played a lot. GTA, Madden mostly. My step son came home from school one day with a remnants from a project. What does your mommy and daddy do? His answer for me was "he's really good at video games". I put the controller down that day and minus a little post divorce Renaissance, I haven't gone back.

I'm assuming some father's are posting in this thread. How do you manage gaming while having little ones look up to you?

You play when the wife and kids are asleep.

  10. What i been saying all along, O'Reilly isn't a RW, we'd be dealing a position of need lhd, for a C/LW.    That 21st pick certainly doesn't need to join Grigorenko + Zadorov both of whom i want to keep.

I'd prefer they try out Grigorenko at RW first then.

Thank you Heimdall, every time I feel like I'm about to lose my mind with another RoR trade suggestion. You step in and clean that #### up!

So Zadarov had a bad year on a really bad team and you guys just want to ship him out for a bag of pucks. I get the Russian thing before this year, but half of the khl is folding. Guys like Grigs and Zads are not going to return to the khl. They are going to make their careers in the NHL. I mean all I heard during the worlds was how many of these guys were coming back to the nhl. Risto and Zads are a number one line d-pairing if I've ever seen one. Just need to be patient. We are not making the playoffs this no matter how many bone head trades you try and make. The key word for this season needs to be development.

  11. I actually think Maclean as coach would be a blast. Big Event hockey. He knows Babcocks system, he knows when to mug it up. The real knock on him was the players turned on him. For some reason Bryan Murray felt his hands were tied. Maclean knows the game. He's not a perfect coach, but I think he'd work here.

I'm with this. I think my order would be MacLean, Bylasma, then Richardson.

  12. If I thought Colorado would take this deal I would pick up Tim Murray and drive him to Colorado myself to pick O'Reilly up and bring him to Buffalo. While I'm there, who wants brownies?  :flirt:

    I want brownies!!!

I just don't see what he brings to the table that someone like Girgensons can't. I agree RoR is a very solid player, he just isn't unique or exceptional enough for me to try and give the aforementioned up for, and then pay him like he wants to be paid. There will be other options than him, I feel like some may be just so excited to start winning now and with RoR's professed interest in leaving it makes him seem more appealing/a necessity perhaps than he really is. We can trade for other people, or wait until next FA for our youngins to develop and better FA's to come out.

Nailed it! This is about the next ten years, not just next year. Now trading all those players, prospects, and picks for a good not great 2way forward who wants 8mil a year is not a good business plan. We have 2way forwards in large numbers, what we don't have is natural goal scorers besides Kane. RoR what a joke!!!

  13. Thank you guys for making the points for both sides of the debate. So I'll chime in with how many 15-25 goal scorers does one team need, cause right now this team is stocked with those kind of players. I'm sorry but for 8mil I want a 30+ goal scorer. Also IMO I think some of you under estimate the value/potential of our players verses other teams players. I know its been a rough last couple of years, but the grass isn't always greener. All I'm saying is if I'm investing the picks, players, and salary that we think its going to take to get RoR. I want a lot more.

  14. Can we stop wasting assets on C/LW's?  I'm not even going to write out the list of C/LW's we have at this point.

^^^ this. We have a team full of these guys that some of you want to trade all of our prospects and picks for. IMO Nelson has been holding Eichel back this tournament, with his slow pace of play. All I'm saying is Eichel would probably have more points this tournament if he didn't have to coast so his line mates could keep up with him.

  15. I've watched every game so far and what I've noticed is how much Eichel has had to adjust his speed to that of his line mates. He has really had to slow down his game. Everyone of his points came when he was able to use his speed, power, and vision. Which 90% of the game his line mates can't even play that way. Thats why IMO Kane and Ennis are his perfect line mates when he gets here. They will be able to play with his speed and handle his on ice vision. His assist on the Jones goal last game is what I think we will see a lot of next year between Kane and Jack.
