  1. Philippa Boyens is a legend No its a steaming network now
  2. That’s what I mean. He’s been pretty standard in his “don’t block” philosophy. So I’m worried he’d be “open” to outside additions like he said: “open” just enough to conclude no addition that can be had at a price he’s willing to pay represents an upgrade significant enough to sully that internal completion with a veteran player: let the kids duke it out
  3. Could be. So why is he waxing so poetic about it? People want to believe his emotion over KO was sincere, and I get that, I think it was, too. But then the better part of me thinks he’s unlikely to go off the rails dishonestly when he’s showing he’s pretty honest emotionally. So I don’t buy it’s purely a Terry thing with Girgs i think it’s reasonable to conclude that part of the reason Terry and KA get along so well, part of the reason Terry trusts him so much and PICKED him, is BECAUSE they have some similar philosophies
  4. I’m good with that, but there are some logistical issues. We can’t be entering into next season with one of our top 3 centre roles being held down by a guy who’s still “getting a shot”, can we? I’d imagine we need him to more less prove he’s up for it before hand. Can he do that within the time frame of the remaining games? You’d be betting on quite a small sample size How do we feel, as of now, entering into next season with a centre spine of Thompson-Cozens-Krebs ? The level of seriousness required for a season that could end in year 5 of straight playoff misses for this regime? Or just feeling that there’s a hope it can live up to what we need?
  5. Basically it’s fairly comical that Adams put so much emphasis on Girgs being part of the “fabric” of the team. Because he’s been here for so long. As if that’s a fabric we should be interested in keeping together
  6. And it’s true that we bump Samuelsson down a pair, which is good, but we bump Krebs up a line, too, and he might not come close to Casey’s production. On the other hand, some have mentioned this is the first move of a few, and if we add meaningfully to the forwards, the net could definitely be team improvement because of Byram’s talent. To me it’ll look really good in combination with a couple other things
  7. What was the first embarrassment?
  8. It seems almost impossible to ignore. I think they are basically even in the second period in differential, and quite positive in the third. I’m trying to understand how that wouldn’t scream slow starts, potentially one of the few things you can outright attribute to coaching. If I had to guess, there is some “score effects” stuff going on in the third. So it’s probably a little misleading as we are chasing a lot, so it would be a mistake to think it’s purely coaching and not also the roster needing further adjustment
  9. They seem to be pretty good in ot and shootouts
  10. (A run right now) annoys me and makes me happy at the same time. I’m not running from it. They’ve earned that sort of emotional reaction. If nothing else, this team has always been complicated. And you are completely right. They need to focus on winning
  11. We’ve been absolute derp this year and are somehow 7 back. They won’t be out of it till it’s over over Last year’s fools gold imprinted on the GMs mind so, I’m hoping for a miracle too
  12. The teams above us are very ass. The funny thing is, we play Detroit 3 times. We can essentially tie them if we win all 3. Which makes it seem doable i suppose the rub is that if we did that, they’d unlikely to be the team still pacing for wc2 but we can ignore that for now
  13. Yet we’ve gained in the playoff race
  14. This alternates between “it’s aaaaaaall over” and “we are totally alive” on a game by game basis according to Chad, so, strap in
  15. Expect a renewal of confidence in the plan
  16. You could see this W from a mile away and I tweeted as much (forgot to get in this thread by the prediction cutoff line). Whenever we have an “uh oh, they are going to drop 7 on us!” game on the horizon we win it: the really good teams play down to the 25th place team when the season is winding down. I’m not sure how much more hard line evidence we need
  17. I kind of agree. I understand what dudacek is saying, too, but he’s wrong to use the word “patience”
  18. That bad eh? Seems there’s some pretty strong feelings in this thread about the conference. Maybe I won’t watch it
  19. Some of the ex players on tsn today talked about how motivated players become in environments like Vegas because of the fact they always go all out to win
  20. Vegas has the ability to activate Hertl before the end of the regular season, they just said on tsn
  21. We actually drafted him as “Zemgus Girgen” Don’t hate the player, hate the game
  22. Wonder if that means he’s back next year
  23. “Ownership”
  24. This pretty much jives with what I was thinking. And definitively not an obstacle that represents an excuse to not finishing 16th of 32 when a) all teams face the issue to varying degrees. Not all are notably better off than the Sabres in this regard. b) the amount we do suffer relatively is mitigated by the fact it’s only a quarter of the league’s pool of players to begin with. c)we only need to finish at the midway point of the league. There are countless other areas to make up the deficit when the goal you are trying to achieve is imminently achievable and you are given a 5 year time time but I agree with your central points
