  1. The Sabres embarked on a strategy to completely dismantle their entire roster in order to rebuild by drafting high for 2-3 years and getting superstar players. They go to all that effort, yet, folks on this board want to defend the inaction of the GM to not fire the coach that is standing in the way of achieving that strategy ? That makes no sense. So, it's okay to trade away every UFA worth anything to worsen the roster so we lose, but it's not okay to fire the man behind the bench that is coaching the team and trying to win every f**king game ? That is the definition of insanity if I ever heard it.
  2. Sabres are putting a lot of faith in losing (in regulation) these final two games. They put a lot of faith that Arizona would beat Detroit and San Jose these final two weeks. Seems to me, we are leaving way too much for chance. In a normal draft year, that might be acceptable. In a draft year where you are starring at two generational talents, that's insane.
  3. The one that has the Sabres only 2 points ahead of the Coyotes with 2 games to play. Your logic is no different than a contending team being satisfied finishing 9th and missing the playoffs because they had 95 points. The job is to finish last, no matter the record.
  4. If I was CEO of a company and our strategy was to provide the best customer service and I had a manager who wasn't on the same page, I would fire him. Why is Nolan any different ? When Nolan signed his contract he knew what was expected of him and this team this year and he knew full well the stated strategy of the franchise. Nolan wasn't forced to sign the contract and it wasn't like he was in the middle of a long term contract and the franchise changed strategies. Nolan took the money and then decided to do what HE wanted, what HE believed was best for HIMSELF, not the team and certainly not the franchise. If that isn't insubordination, I don't know what is. All I ask of Mr. Murray is to regrow some balls and fire him. As for the NHL and what they think F**K them, I don't care. I want this team to succeed.
  5. I think there is reason to be concerned with the two mid-2nd round picks and there is no proof he was the specific person that selected or convinced Bryan Murray to select the players you mention. If Bryan Murray comes out and says, if it wasn't for Tim Murray, we would never have selected XXX, then fine. In meantime, we know Tim Murray selected those players in round 2 last year. We know he made the trades he made and took no action with Nolan when Nolan decided to go on a vendetta to finish 29th. I will judge on what I know
  6. Those are good players, but wasn't Bryan Murray GM, not Tim ? Do you think Tim Murray deserves credit for those selections and not his uncle ?
  7. Ottawa is winning because of a hot goalie, not so sure about the rest of the roster. But, if you want to let Mr. Murray slide, go right ahead.
  8. If Mr. Pegula wants a Crosby so bad, why doesn't he pick up the phone and tell our wimpy GM to do something about it. Mr. Murray spends a lot of time scouting instead of making sure this team finishes the mission at hand. I'm also starting to question how good a scout he is, not sure our farm system has gotten much better in past year under his tenure
  9. I think it's time to blame TIM MURRAY, yes, TIM MURRAY. He is arrogant and spineless for not firing Ted Nolan back when Nolan pulled that crap and started Enroth for 15 straight games in December. A more seasoned GM wouldn't stand for this crap. I've lost confidence in our GM. And, by the way, where is Pegula through all of this ?
  10. Nolan. "riding the hot goaltender", all year long versus going with a traditional 2-1 rotation has cost team at least 8-10 points. Nolan is a hypocrite. He signed the contract knowing the organizational strategy, yet, decided not to do his part. I have no respect for the man.
  11. A final FU to Murray??, it's a final FU to the hard core Sabres fans that always had Nolan's back. A coach that was welcomed back with open arms by the same fans and is in the process of betraying all of us. I was in high school when Nolan coached the Sabres the first time and fell in love with him and his team and was heartbroken when he got fired. To watch him do this now is the ultimate betrayal.
  12. Nolan has a responsibility to be 100 percent aligned with the franchise's stated strategy. He was fully aware of the strategy when he signed a 3 year multi-million dollar contract extension. What he is doing (or not doing) borders on insubordination. I have lost all respect for him as a coach. I can't wait for him to get fired.
  13. This has been by far the most stressful season ever as a committed and loyal Sabres fan. I never thought fighting for last place in order to secure a long term asset to ensure a successful franchise would create so much tension amongst fans, but it has. I cannot wait for this season to be over.
  14. I thought this was an appropriate thread to make my first post on the site. I've been a long time reader, but thought I'd start chiming in now and then. I have nothing but fond memories of Dominik Hasek. To have an athlete play at the level he played for so many years was a blessing to Buffalo fans. He is perhaps the greatest talent that has ever worn a Buffalo sports uniform. I guess we can debate Kelly, Bruce, Thurman, OJ, Gilbert and Patty L, but in my opinion, none of them ascended to the heights of their respective positions and sports the way Hasek did. It was a pleasure being a fan of this team with him in that uniform. I still find myself watching his highlights and getting chills and goose bumps, oh what could have been with a little more offense. Off the ice, a bit quirky, always good for a laugh and a heart of gold. On the ice he was as competitive as they come. Have a great night DOM !!
