On what basis was it illegal? It looked well within the rules to me. It was just that his approach seemed so casual that made it a little unique.

The puck has to continually move toward the goalline and Power, as he cut across, moved it backwards.  This happens often in tight as guys deke to shoot but his was pretty long and exaggerated and the puck definitely moved pretty distinctly the wrong way and with the way his feet were it was REALLY close as to whether Owen himself was moving away from the goalline as well. Like I said, I've never seen it called so push that limit all day long.

Usually the case, but they are in desperation mode now. If Granato plays another goalie and they get shelled, he will be second guessed all off season, including from inside the locker room. He has to ride with Levi I believe.

College hockey plays back to back nights all the time. If anything it's the cadence he's used to and he's not going to be tired, he's only played 39 games since October.

Rangers second crack at him. How’d that work out for them?

Jesus, is unbridled man love the only acceptable response? I just said the kid played well. It's the first time I've watched him play in the NHL and it looked good. I'd guess if I went back and watched the Detroit game I'd be less impressed, but let's go all in on the hype train after a week and a half.

We already have something of value, his name is Casey, and there's no way in hell I'd trade him at this point.

That's fine. You can want that. I don't need to agree with you. We will see how it works out in the end. 3-4 years from now are you happy you kept him this off-season and then paid him what he needed to be paid or do you wish they didn't do that and traded him to make the defense better. That's the fun of this. I dunno. Neither do you. We all have players we don't like for whatever reason we each have. He's one of mine.

Middlestadt still sucks I see @Contempt

He scored a goal. Take all the victory laps. I don't like the player long term and I would rather have the top 4 defenseman he can be turned into. Would you rather I flipped and started gushing over him?

With the goal he scored tonight he equaled his goal totals from January and March combined. Those games counted too.

I know I am repeating myself but I can’t believe KA did not do more at the deadline to acquire a few assets for some salary retention.

Buying lottery tickets seemed like low hanging fruit. It also deprives your competition of those lottery tickets. Whatever, either they dont agree as to the value of that, or Lord Terrence wouldn't approve the spend. Doesn't really matter at this point.

And you would be cherry picking, instead of looking at the season in it's entirety.

Am I cherry picking those months that are bad or are the rest of you cherry picking the ones that are decent out of this one season and hoping that means he's improved? January was bad February was good, March was bad, and April so far has been good.

Actually, it was me, the same person who started this thread.

I had been reading a lot of Mittelstadt bashing in various threads at the time and wanted to have a discussion as to see what the board in general thought about the topic.

Probably shouldn't be (because the internet) but I remain surprised by how many people interpreted a thread that asked a question as a thread that stated Casey was bad.

Exactly. A discussion about the topic. Now I can't suggest a player be traded for value, not given away, not sent to Finland or something, without getting told to "GTFO with that bullcrap"  OK.

He's having a nice April. I won't go back and list March or January because it will trigger someone and they'll tell me I'm cherry picking.

Who cares? Probably it's a person just like you who has his favorite whipping boy and nothing he does will ever change that. Dude could put up 50-70-120 and you'd find something to rip on him about.

    GTFO with this bullcrap.

You're probably right, I should GTFO with this bullcrap.  He's a pillar of the franchise and will be a key to our success going forward. Untradeable.

I think you should stop hating the player so much that you can't even be honest about what he is doing right now and continue bashing him for what he was doing 2 and 3 years ago. Your bias is overwhelming to the point you can't have an honest evaluation of him so to be honest your opinion has no value to me since it's based on your hatred of the player and not reality.

It's funny, not three months ago there was a thread on this very board asking how bad Casey Mittelstadt is (not started by me btw) Now we can excoriate people for suggesting that he be traded for value. Ok.

But the prospect that would replace him would be a rookie that would need a couple years to develop as well, so you're not getting much of a benefit overall for that move. I don't think he's that easily replaceable. Trade VO/Hinestroza/Jost before Casey is a better idea IMO

Hinostroza and Jost have zero trade value. VO probably has some.

In any case, even though you are skeptical, I hope you're enjoying some of these games, because they are really freaking fun.

Went to the Philly game on 4/1 and thought they were outplayed for 50 minutes. Didn't watch the Panthers or Red Wings games this week. Saw the last 10 minutes against Carolina.
