So who goes? Have Jost and Greenway too, Adams traded for both. Still have Victor Olfosson with 28 goals. Remove that how far off are you from Playoffs? Who gets the 28 goals for sure???

Quinn will be out till Midseason now, Achilles.

Another “fact” this is untrue. Are you going for a record?

That, plus Adams really doesn’t seem like the type of guy who won’t like a player because he didn’t personally draft him. In fact, the same people who wanted Mitts are still with the team. Adams builds a consensus, not dictates.

There’s skill against peers, which Rosen no doubt has. But this doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be able to deploy this skill at the highest level of hockey. In order to do this, he’ll need a better understanding of this higher-level game and a more mature body. He’ll get there soon, but needs to dominate the AHL first, which he’s still trying to do.

@Curt has the combine height and weight nailed. I'll also add that with a May birthday, he theoretically should still grow an inch or so. If it was an October bday I would be a little more worried about that but even if he ends up at 5'10", there is a lot of high end traits he displays.

If you really want to go down the rabbit hole... here is his highlight package, all 30mins of it. One more note, he started in the WHL at 15 where he was almost a ppg guy with 20pts in 24 games. Last year at 16 he dropped 63 in 68games and this year he outproduced our boy Matt Savoie with 98 in 60. Last year he actually lead the Ice in playoff points. This year Savoie did and Benson was 4th in playoff points (17 in 15 games). Not that +/- is excedeedingly useful but he lead the team in it with a +68.

Ooooh, announcer called him Connor Benson at 0:50! Freudian slip.

Congrats on the worst post of the day

Try, the inflection point in the elevation of a franchise from two decades in the grave to indefinite championship contention such that the "massive disappointment" which has led to the most pathetic offseason I've ever seen from a buffalo fanbase, elegantly summarized here, involved a home playoff victory before falling in the divisional round, something that was a pipe dream the 25 years before the trade

Lol. I think you’re confusing our QB with our WR. All the stuff you mentioned would’ve happened Diggs or no Diggs. Is it a coincidence our WRs seem to have career years once playing for Buffalo?

Not happy  I mean no one is getting fired what a joke..

forwards suck at defense the pk is horrible and the tire fire defense

What could go wrong next year

I actually think our defense was a bright spot last season. Compare Krueger Dahlin to Donnie Dahlin. Knowing that young defensemen can be lead astray, Muel has been progressing well and Power was a Calder finalist. The issue with our D was a lack of talent/depth outside these 3. That’s on KA.

I can't wait to live in the world where we have so many players that are top 9 guys other teams are lowballing us to take them because they have to play on our 3rd line or in Rochester. Sign me the ***** up.

Agreed. As many have pointed out before, there’s always room for a great player of your team. Teams don’t let great players walk. Worse case scenario, you move an equally-skilled, but higher-priced vet.

If we hold on to every prospect we will end up selling them off in a fire sale.  I do think we need to convert some of this prospect potential into players we need right now.  It is time to get good support for the current real core.

I agree with everything else you said, but why do you think this? Fire sales don’t happen with pipeline players, but rather happen with roster players, usually under duress of the salary cap. Obviously, if we have no spots for a player, I don’t see why would would move them for peanuts. If we develop them properly, this increases their value and potentially could flip them for some really good players.

You can't count on a guy waiving his NMC like Hall did (and I don't know why he did).

Also, why did Chicago help out Boston like this?

Probably for the same reason they let the Lightning dump Tyler Johnson on them a couple years back in exchange for Seabrook, who TBL immediately LTIR’d. Looks like they just like to help out teams in cap trouble for shits and giggles.

Baker said he absolutely loves Simashev, but he also thinks that on talent he probably better slots later in the middle of the first.

And good thing we are drafting pretty much in the middle of the first. Sign me up for this guy. Just hope they don’t overcompensate on “checking their bias” against positions.

I wouldn't trade any of the Fantastic 4 for Pesce.  Each of the 4 has legit top-line scorer potential.  I think as a matter of NHL asset management, you don't trade a guy like that for a defensive defenseman -- only for a scoring defenseman.  And it doesn't really matter if the Sabres have a number of prospects in this category -- it's Tim Murray thinking to let them burn a hole in your pocket.

I'd be curious if anyone can put forth an example of a defensive defenseman at Pesce's level being traded for a rich price.  Gavrikov (a rental), plus Korpisalo, were traded in 2023 for a conditional #1 that became #22 OA, plus a #3 next year.  Ben Chiarot, also a rental, was traded in 2022 and returned Florida's #1 a year later, plus a lower-tier prospect and a #4.

Those prices are quite a bit lower than #13 or any of the 4 blue-chippers that our hungry Canadian fans want to put on the table, although admittedly it's not exactly apples-to-apples because Pesce has a year remaining on his contract.

I also don't see Carolina getting a return for Pesce that is equivalent to JJP, Quinn, Kulich, Savoie or #13 OA.  As stated above, he's a defensive defenseman and he's going to need a fat new contract in a period when the cap is flat and there isn't much excess money in the system.

I don’t think anyone is suggesting we give up a JJP level player for Pesce. Maybe 5 years ago, but not now. People on here even generally agreed against trading such a player for Chychrun as well. I think what people have in mind is a Jiricek or Miller type of player.

I don’t think it’s the only way, but it’s the most likely way and a price we can afford to pay given our depth in that area.

I hope Olofsson can get it done. Not sure it’s likely.

I happen to agree with you. It’s not the only way to get a top 4 D. We can sign one of those. However, if we want a young, elite shutdown D, which rarely hit the market, we’d likely have to give up quality. This certainly shouldn’t be for any D, but one that pains the other team to let go. And Oloffson is not gonna do it. But, yeah, we certainly can go the poor man’s top 4 defenseman though.

Thought that the year after the post-lockout year.  And it finally could be.  But will believe that wraith is finally dead when it's been burned and had its ashes scattered.

They can’t scatter the ashes though, they all have NMCs. Seriously though, they’ll be playoff contenders for a bit, but they’re an aging team with serious cap issues. If all these players didn’t have NMCs, I could see them retooling and turning it around quickly, but they can’t.

What's the story in Tampa? Looking at capfriendly, they're roughly 450k under the cap with 17 contracts for next season. Cernak's contract has no ntc / mod-ntc until after July 1st. Any chance they'd move him given their void of draft picks and current up coming cap situation?

Just like always, some chumpy teams will come to their rescue and take on their garbage for pennys on the dollar. That said, I think Tampa’s reign of terror is over and due to the NMCs, will be for awhile.
