  1. Oh right. Can't wet the winged wheel! He was in his suspenders.
  2. After cleaning out Risto and Reino and sitting out free agency, we should have gotten a 1A/1B (say Ullmark at 6 and Raanta at 5). Big deal if we're overspending on goaltending... we're not spending elsewhere except Skinner for the next 2 years.
  3. If anyone's into old-school sci-fi and fantasy book covers (and *ting*!) I heartily recommend goodshowsir co uk
  4. Cameron's just sitting in a picnic chair, in his Howe sweater, at the end of the diving board. How did they get him out there????
  5. I don't see it. I think they're simply doing yet another new-GM reset to make his own team. Just like TM and JBot did. Now -- what's even scarier is that ownership truly believes this is the way. Just like getting the most overpaid UFA (Leino, Ehrhoff, Moulson) after having a good playoffs was the way. Then getting a top-3 picked center was the way. Now, they're telling themselves UPL is ready and that in 2 years... this approach is dethroning Tampa. That's the scary part. They didn't do obvious cost-cutting (buy out Okposo). We didn't need it for the cap, but if they truly were pinching pennies, then that would've worked. Or traded a 2nd for someone else to buy out Okposo's contract. They're not doing those kinds of moves.
  6. I get it. When Nolan was re-hired it was because he'd get the guys riled up and ready to play and he knew he was being hired as a sacrificial lamb for the tank since it had been the stated goal of ownership and the GM. But doing this to Granato just seems cruel. Even if he's excited to lead the kids. If Linus was going to UFA, then it should have been Sheevyn's all-out goal to acquire a goalie via trade (we had the protection slot) and then deal with Linus in UFA if Seattle hadn't taken him. Please don't do this to UPL. The kid needs Rochester-quality competition for a couple seasons, just like Ullmark did.
  7. You don't need to see his identification. This isn't the D you're looking for. Move along. (Execute Order... 49)
  8. They needed a second goalie last year, too. And the year before that when they started super-hot and then Hutton's eyes disappeared.
  9. ^ Skinner still can't get in the top 6. Yippppeeeeee!
  10. That's how we get Borgen back. 2022 3rd. Because Seattle got no side deals to "take someone else", they can go this route. Still shocked they took Geekie over Bean, though, and without any recompense.
  11. Well, if the team doesn't offer then he doesn't have to worry about it -- he'll put in his minimum time and then walk or get traded at a deadline. But that's horrible asset management and there aren't any compensatory picks like in the NFL.
  12. If you're Dahlin, do you take the minimum term to get to UFA or do 2 bridges (RFA, UFA) rather than taking a big long-term deal?
  13. It certainly appears the goal is re-Reino re-Eichel. I mean... I love the Sabres and all. But maybe I should just sorta go into carbonite for the next couple years. And then Cozens can accept only bridges and request a trade.
  14. Pysyk has also skated at forward... for Florida? I don't think in Dallas though. His analytics have been... fair?...
  15. I thought Malone probably should've been given a shot as 4C when... JBott?... came in? Or? Whenever. Not that he makes it, but he could've at least fought for a job and then gone back down to ROC, rather than just letting him walk. The competition wasn't fierce.
  16. We're... band... together... mission... God.
  17. Who has more upside as our 3rd-pairing LD: Butcher or Bryson? Does Bryson go down to Rochester? I do like having sufficient folks in place to keep Samuelsson in Rochester and Power in Michigan so they can grow, win, and hopefully be dominant against lesser competition, rather than just getting demoralized.
  18. It was I who allowed the Davidson to rejoin the roster of the Buffalo Sabres. With him, our goal is quite safe from your pitiful little shots. An entire Legion of my best left-handed defensemen awaits them. Execute Order 47!
  19. Oh! And I need to qualify that as: 2021-22 Butcher > 2014-15 Meszaros. Obviously, in their primes (Butcher now, Meszaros in like...2008,2010?), then Meszaros was the better player.
  20. Good choice and move by Ullmark. I'm upset we're losing him, his joyful attitude, his shootout prowess, and his fantastic masks. And his theme music. But it was clear that Boston was a good landing spot for him once Rask wasn't extended in-season (and the whole leaving-the-bubble thing). He's not Rask, but he's solid. And he can go play on a great team. Good on you, Linus.
  21. Aunt Karmanos: Look, it's only one more season... Five seasons. Six seasons. Tops. Jack Eichwalker: Yeah, that's what you said when Risto, and Reino, and Jake left. Aunt Karmanos: Where are you going? Jack Eichwalker: It looks like I'm going nowhere. I have to finish cleaning the T-16 Tank. <Jack walks out of the Millennium LockerRoom> Aunt Karmanos: Owen, he can't stay here forever. Most of his friends have gone. You need to come over and play more. Uncle Owen Unlimited Power: I'll make it up to the big team next year. I promise. Aunt Karmanos: Jack's just not a Sabre, Owen. He has too much of the Tank in him. Uncle Owen Unlimited Power: That's what I'm afraid of. <GM Sheevyn plays with his puppets off-screen> GM Sheevyn: Did you see anything?! Aunt Karmanos: No, Sheev, I didn't see you playing with your dolls again. GM Sheevyn: They're NHL action figures!
  22. Drake Caggiula. Players on ELCs. ... that's... about it. πŸΊπŸ˜‡
  23. Fire Confirm at will, Commander!
  24. Execute Order 44. Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen.
