  1. No call for too many men, sloppy behind the net, and then in.
  2. He's at his best in close, but no one slows down on a rush more and attempts to flip his hips more rather than just going for it.
  3. Tuch had more time to clear that than to just turn and fire. UPL gets beat on a deflection, otherwise it was going right into the glove. Tough.
  4. This is a decent 4th line considering the injuries (Asplund-Sheahen-Hinostroza). They're not going to score unless it's Hino off a turnover, but they're going to contest everything all over the ice.
  5. Nice stop by UPL turns into a Sabres rush and good top-line possession and a good Dahlin slot shot wide. And then... the inexperience and communication, UPL almost lets Nylander get to the puck before him. Still... good thus far.
  6. Well then you are lost! Note: The Avalanche traded him away leading up to their Cup win. And then won despite losing Kadri for a bit at the center spine because Compher was fine. Jost was addition by subtraction and Nico Sturm was a better temporary fit for Colorado's 4th line.
  7. For the record, he was claimed off waivers and so he was on his way down to the AHL. And there's no telling when Minnesota would have bothered to bring him up again.
  8. He benefitted from Colorado's depth. With Minnesota he's had 9 points in 33 games in 12:49/game and won 43% of his faceoffs and thrown 22 hits. He's played 38 minutes of PK time which means he's the 3rd forward pair out, and his Corsi relative in those SH minutes were not good compared to his team. He was a replacement-level player in Minnesota and that's who we're getting (again, unless HCDG unlocks him in some way). But the current Jost is a downgrade from Sheahan (who at least has some defensive skills and FO talent) who is signed to 2-way contract.
  9. He’s been ineffective and dull since signing his contract. He’s not a scrappy checker or a speedy forechecker or a faceoff specialist. He’s a guy who was drafted as a maybe offensive 2C and instead is playing as an AHL tweener. Maybe HCDG can get him to spark, but this is not the pickup this team needed with the injuries in the bottom 6. And he’s not going to flip at the deadline for anything of value either. But… he doesn’t block anyone.
  10. Yes. Even if it's Dahlin's fault, you still go after the Sens player. He needs to be told not to go crashing the net against your team or there will be consequences. If (insert minimal Sabres 4th liner... Krebs) If McAvoy puts Krebs into Ullmark, or if Hedman puts Krebs in Vasilevskiy... do you think Krebs just is allowed to skate back to the bench without a confrontation? They'll gladly take the penalty to send a message, and their entire team would wake up for the next dozen shifts as well.
  11. If UPL can play like he did last season during his NHL callup, he'll win some games. His callup last year coincided with a massive wave of COVID + injuries. This year, he'll have a team that might be missing Okposo and Girgs, but is about to regain Muel. He could be a spark that gets the team going again. Of course, last season he was playing well and then Tampa ran him and gave him an injury that lasted weeks. And no Sabres retaliated in his defense. Aside to last night: I realize Dahlin felt bad about running the Senator into Comrie, so it's alright for him to check up on his goalie. But every other skater on the ice should have seen their goalie down and b-lined to the Senator for destruction. That's still the most alarming part of this team is the failure to stick up for each other as a team. It can't just be one guy once in awhile.
  12. No quit in Dahlin, at least. Maybe the opening faceoff of next game... someone should just start a fight.
  13. Watching the back half of the 2nd... I couldn't tell that the Sabres were the team down by 1 goal. Outskated to every loose puck. When the Sabres had the puck, the Sens were the team that pressured and took it away and began the transition. The Sabres collectively have stopped skating. I thought you said this team was fast.
  14. Just can't come out so flat. They were not a one-line team early in the year but they've become one. This team needs Okposo and Muel in the lineup every single game. And... one of the goalies needs to steal a game one of these weeks.
  15. You'd expect more considering they were being outshot 2:1 after two periods, but it just isn't the case. Though, to be fair, the Canucks have very few as well. The Sabres home statisticians are pretty reluctant to credit a hit compared to some arenas.
  16. Always interesting to see how this team responds to Okposo out of the lineup. Thus far, Dahlin is the one stepping up (as usual). And JJP's motor is noticeable. Vancouver leads the league in 1st period goals... but that means there are 2 periods where they're rubbish. Those 2 periods are upon us. The good thing is that there aren't any NHL-ready D prospects to block. Open the blast doors!
  17. Always believe. If you don't believe it...
  18. Still over a minute left... they didn't need to start taking shots at the end zone. If that's a Super Bowl preview, I'm all for it. Two 0-4 franchises, each trying to outdo each other for pain. That would be entertaining.
  19. Remember... you're playing the Vikings.
  20. Well, shoot. What a crappy 5-game stretch. However, play like they did tonight (particularly in goal) and they'll do fine in the next 6. They'll get back above .500.
  21. They're becoming them. Quinn is improving. JJP continues to look legit. Cozens. Power. They're coming along. Patience, soon we will be with them.
  22. I mean.... that's a desperate challenge, but... sure. Try it.
  23. The Bruins are fully healthy and Bryson/Pilut aren't stopping them. Edit: Beyond that, the game was good. Hey Krebs, go fight Marchand. Make it happen.
