Yeah, and management were renowned for treating the players well and providing a place players wanted to stay - i think it really helps when you have stars staying their whole life with a franchise
(scarily they came so so so close to drafting Bure in the 5th round, someone convinced them not to, then they were gonna take him in the 6th round and Vancouver nabbed him three sports above them)
The journeyman in round 3 and the 4th line scrub in round 4 mostly, the AHLer in round 1 also helped and the water boy in round 6 made a pretty complete team
Without wanting to be a DR apologist again. I still think he did this trade to line ourselves with the chance to have options for a run. I agree with everything you have said though - maybe Regehr gave him a small list of teams he would agree to though?

This could actually be a good deal. If we make some moves and become semi-contenders next year (Montreal style) then this gives us much greater flexibility for making buyer trades - as second rounders are the going currency for anyone decent. But yeah it sucks for the moment
