Crosby is 25. Probably kindest to just take him out into the backyard and shoot him now

Grigo is developing fine. No he isn't leading the league in goals - is that what you expected? How is the coach to blame for individual players stat lines? If Lindy is the cause of Stafford's scorelessness or Myers struggling then he is also the cause of Vanek/Pommer's score lines. The coach is responsible for the overall play of the team, but it is not his fault Stafford has been giving the puck away That still doesn't explain why he doesn't quote the source (not naming the source is understandable)

Ah yes. Brown, my favourite sabres player :P -
I think i'd take better faceoffs and chemistry over puck control personally. But an argument could be made either way

That's true he is a columnist. But he is using sources to make his opinion sound like it is consensus around the league/more than an opinion. Either you write as a reporter and use inside information and quote it to make a point. Or you write as a columnist and use information available to everyone and speculate based on that/stir the pot etc. It is also about trust - if Mckenzie or Dreger wrote this I would believe it. Because I believe they know a lot of high up people as they break a lot of news early Yes and you can quote them without naming them, which is also a fundamental principle of good journalism

It depends on the reasoning though. Saying he only has 3 points in his first 11 games is hardly that bad - Stamkos only had 4 through like 20 games when he joined. Grigo has not looked bad, i.e. he is not a liability. So i see no reason to punish him by sitting him. If it is to protect him from the big bad bruins then that makes no sense either - he could get 4th line minutes and be effective. He is big enough to play low level minutes. Gerbe is useless when he is outside the top 6 and he is not skilled enough to be a top 6. -

Why Gerbe over Grigo? That makes literally no sense. I understand why Mccormick Vanek - Coho - Pommers Foligno - Ennis - Stafford Ott - Hecht - Kaleta Scott - Mccormick - Gerbe Weber - Regehr Sulzer - Erhoff Leopold - Sekera Scratches: Grigo, Myers, Brennan, Leino -
It also doesn't make him right. He puts no real argument forward. It is a nothing article. There is a difference between not naming a source and hand wavingly saying 'high ranking people' or 'hockey minds' and saying one current gm said this 'quote' or one executive of an eastern conference team said 'quote'. Similarly, rather than hockey minds, he should say x said this - there is no shame is saying business savvy doesn't help a hockey team. This is assertion, you can print exact quotes or interviews without naming the person. I have no time for 'journalism' which is basically an opinion piece with pseudo-evidence

I'm not ready to give up on Myers potential. There are dozens of 30 goal scorers, there are few truly amazing D-men. We are not a competing team, so I see no reason to give up elite potential for current very good players
-
I think the fact he doesn't name his sources means the article is hard to read as investigative journalism. If his source was Brian Burke, would people still think the same - he presents it as though he has fingers in a lot of high up pies in other organisations. I'm not sure that is true - he is too small time. People here think TP is a fool for not firing Ruff and Regier, but their opinions are founded on the result of the team for the past decade. People have to realise TP said it was a clean slate when he took over. Accept that. He also has an inside look at the organisation, something no-one else does. He is a multibillionare. I trust he is a good enough businessman not let fanboyism take over his view (which is quite an arrogant and patronising view to have).

Perhaps not mentally or physiologically. But he is a physically soft player. He doesn't go into the corners or the front of the net much. He is also a bit suspect when he is on defence. Vanek has the hand-eye coordination and the willingness to get dirty. Kessel has the dangling and the explosive first step. I wouldn't say no to have Kessel on the team. But I would prefer to have Vanek, Pommers or Myers over him

On Tavares? Not in anyway. He was cleanly on a breakaway. However, I think it was the right thing to do by Erhoff, it took 91 off his game and gave Miller time to prepare for a 1 on 1 in the form of a penalty shot -
Shocking. Another fire R&R thread/article. Yawn

I thought his next start was tonight? Rumour has it he traded Miller for picks and set himself to be starting goalie. Although i'm not sure how confident he is, the goalie controls in NHL13 are difficult to get used to -

Second game of the year against Toronto out shot 35-20, we won 2-1. That is on Miller. Ergo 40% of our wins are in games he stole I struggle to understand how someone doesn't think Miller objectively stole 2 games. Check out Luongo's defence - i'd swap ours of theirs any day -

Yeah I guess it could actually. I was thinking how epic his two 5 point games where, kinda forgot how important his 2 goals and shoot-out goal were. 60% Vanek 40% Miller -

Miller has stolen 40% of our wins. Vanek has stolen 40% of our wins. And Montreal OT win accounts for the remaining 20% -

Yeah he did - and the same happened against Montreal. Weird. He had a season low 7.13 ice time -
We were out played all game. I don't think he does. If we had dominated the game, then maybe On the plus side he will be fresh against the Bruins. Also Brennan was benched for half the game (7 minutes of ice time). So unless Regehr is back, I think Myers plays

Points are points. I'll take the last two games over the two before that. It might not b domination, but it is a win - it is moving in the right direction. We pay Miller and Vanek to be our best players, and this season they have been -

I think Lindy is not playing Grigo in the first two periods for a reason. He has done it couple of times now. I think he wants to use Grigo as a fresh player in the third, and take advantage of tired players -

Grigo gets an assist and has a wicked screen of the goalie. Foligno looked like he hurt himself on that play. 37-13 in shots
