Peverly has an irregular heartbeat. He missed the entire preseason dealing with it and missed a game last week due to it. It's a serious condition, obviously, but it's something that both he and the Stars are aware of.
Atrial Fibrillation according to Jim Nill

The NHL has canceled the Stars Blue Jackets game and I honesty believe they made the right decision. Players from both teams are shook up.

Good news is Rich Peverley is up and talking

I'm bored, so here's an update on the tank...
We're currently in last place. Six points behind Edmonton who has played one more game than us.
The team is on pace for 59 points which only four other teams currently have less than.
If we get a point per game for the rest of the season that would give us 64 points which only six other teams have less than.
Our goal differential is -60 which is -10 more than the next lowest. That's 126 below the highest in the league (St. Louis at +66).
Only 128 goals. That's 22 below the next lowest and 95 below league-leading Chicago.
13 regulation and overtime wins is lowest in the league. Florida is second lowest with 17.
If we finish on a point-per-game pace, which would leave us with 64 points, then the following teams would have to finish with these records to have a better slot in the lottery than us:
Edmonton Oilers: 5-9-2 (12 points or worse in 17 games)
Florida Panthers: 3-12-3 (9 points or worse in 18 games)
New York Islanders: 3-12-1 (7 points or worse in 16 games)
Calgary Flames: 3-14-1 (7 points or worse in 18 games)
Nashville Predators: 1-17-0 (2 points or worse in 18 games)
Carolina Hurricanes: 0-17-1 (1 point or worse in 18 games)
The tank is almost complete.
Nice work

I like the way you think.
We may not have much talent, but our boys certainly play hard for Ted.
I cannot wait to see what Nolan does with some real talent on this team
-
Tank 2015 should do it folks. One more year!!!
Yes, yes it should
-
Nolan should be all signed up by the end of the week.

I think it's an interesting question though. Truthfully I was completely unimpressed with McDavid at the WJHC. He didn't look anywhere near like the best player on the ice. Sure, he's dominating juniors but that's an overall lesser group of talent to go against. I seem to recall him sulking a bit when things weren't going his way, etc. Perhaps I missed a few things in that tournament but I was just not impressed.
It seems that a team might benefit even more from have picks #2 and #3 over #1 even with the top talent on display.
Just for fun the draft picks from 2004-2013 in order
2004: Alexander Ovechkin, Evgeni Malkin, Cam Barker
2005: Sydney Crosby, Bobby Ryan, Jack Johnson
2006: Erik Johnson, Jordan Staal, Jonathan Toews
2007: Patrick Kane, James van Riemsdyk, Kyle Turris
2008: Steven Stamkos, Drew Doughty, Zach Bogosian
2009: John Tavares, Victor Hedman, Matt Duchene
2010: Taylor Hall, Tyler Seguin, Erik Gudbranson
2011: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Gabriel Landeskog, Jonathan Huberdeau
2012: Nail Yakupov, Ryan Murray, Alex Galchenyuk
2013: Nathan MacKinnon, Aleksander Barkov, Jonathan Druin
It seems to me that in many cases, having the next two would be almost better than having the #1. Do you think the Oilers would have preferred next two in 2011 or 2012? I suppose that with Crosby's draft you could say that he's better than having Ryan and Johnson and that might be right, but what we don't know is how good Pittsburgh would be if Malkin was not there as well.
That is on the Oilers Scouting Department and MacTavish. The advantage of having the number one pick is that team gets to pick whomever they want. In 2007 Central Scouting Services had Kane ranked as the 3rd overall prospect, Chicago felt differently and it has worked out pretty well from them.
-
Really Detroit? They got Zetterberg and Datsyuk in the 6th and 7th rounds and had Nick Lidstrom on their blue line for 20 years. As to the rest I agree, we need to draft well no matter where, just like detroit.
Edmonton has no defense and no goaltending. We have the deepest defensive prospect pool of any NHL team. Something to keep in mind.
Especially if the Islanders do not defer and the Sabres end up with the top two picks
-
I'm ok with losing close competitive games this year. The game was fun to watch and we're that much closer to a first overall pick
This..
-
Erhoff mad that he wasn't traded at the deadline.
He might be happy around draft time then...
-
Crawford with the street hockey goalie stick
-
Is that what we have to look forward to in a few years?
-
Does anyone know how the second round works vis-a-vis the lottery? If we finish last, do we get the first pick in the second round regardless of the lotto results?
I ask because there are only 29 picks in the first this year (NJ) so the 1st pic in the second round is still a top30 pick...
Yes the team that finishes 30th, has the first pick in every round starting with second round.

PLF Speaks!
Just not about the situation surrounding his departure.
-
This will be ugly tonight, even if you are a fan of the tank.
-
As the title says.....
I'm thinking along the lines of, what I we end up with the 2 of the top 3 picks this year and thus we look far better next year.
More so..... what if we get the top 2 picks, do we try, do you think we could succeed at, to strong arming Edm into giving us their 2015 1st and their 3rd overall in 2014 to get Ekblad?
If you have the two top picks and want to abandon the tank, select Ekblad and offer EDM their choice of D Men for Hall or RNH.
I will admit I like your trade scenario better however.
Also I cannot see Snow giving the Sabres their first this year if it is the first or second overall pick.

He and Omark are starting a band.
Cool they can call it "Bara säga nej till Rochester"
-
Neuvirth doesn't need to be great. We didn't trade a starter. We traded our backup for a backup who is younger and under control.
I wish we wouldn't have given the pick, but I will give Neuvirth a chance.
Neuvirth looked pretty good last night and watching the Enroth/Neuvirth Combo should be fun next year. If it was a fifth or sixth round pick that would have been less painful.
Who knows maybe the pick will be reduced since Kiesla did not report.
-
No. Klesla was never going to factor into the future here and was just another body for the present.
I wasn't referring to Kiesla.
I think trading a starting goaltender and a 3rd round pick in an extremely deep draft for an backup goaltender is a steep price.
Now if Neuvirth turns out to be the second coming of his childhood hero then that is a completely different story.
-
Can the OP add Klesla to the title?
I know right!?!?!? Man if this was my thread I would have fixed it by now. Chz must have partied last nig
Sorry did not realize that this was moved to its own thread. Originally posted in trade deadline day thread.
Also now that Kiesla has refused to report to the Sabres Organization this trade just got a whole lot worse.
-
Does anyone know if the Sabres have any recourse with Washington?
