Update: I just got canned.
That sucks, but I believe these things all happen for good reason. You will take everything you have learned over the years and turn it into something a lot better. Trust me. I've been there.

There is no excuse for not running whoever touches your goalie. Everytime. Anyone on the ice has to do it. It's code in the NHL. You touch my goalie and you are decked. Every team in the NHL knows that the Sabres do nothing atoll.

Last name Carpan.
First name Dean.
Easy. Peasy.

Fantastic win.
Dare I say that the Sabres looked like a complete all-round NHL team last night.

Money. Last year, the highest paid blue line in the NHL was $34m. If you assume he is a top pair, then with an elevated cap he would slot in between $10.5m-$11.5m. If that holds, then with Power, Dahlin, Mule, Joki, and Clifton the 2025/26 AAV of this six would be $42-43M. This does not include Johnson would be also be coming off his ELC that would increase to around $2-3 on a bridge deal. Half your cap cannot be spent on 6 defenders.
I would add that I’m not sold Adams wouldn’t extend him either. Not saying he would keep all three massive salaries. It gives him options next year. Rasmus for example is not an Adams draft pick, and he has until June 30th next year before his NMC kicks in. Kev likes to it young around here. Or, if Byram has a breakout year, he could garner much more than you mentioned next offseason if KA decides to keep Dahlin and Power. Think close to the return that Calgary got for Tkachuk. A defensive D (Weegar), a top line player and a 1st. Obviously health and performance are assumed.
Your point has merit, but even if Byram is top paring here he is not really a top pairing guy in the NHL yet. He will be extended with likely a 3 year $18M to $20M contract - $6M to $6.5M per = the Dahlin bridge deal. The only issue with a 3 year deal is I think it takes him directly to UFA. I think he is 24 now and he may have 4 NHL seasons at the end of this one.

I don’t think that’s all I got from. Your last point may be a bit off base.

When I hear KA thinking of getting a veteran 4C I envision a Riley Sheahan type of move.
He needs to get a 3C who Krebs competes with for the role.
Girgs is going to be the 4C. If he were not he would have been traded for anything at the recent deadline.
I agree they need a 3C and better 4th line wingers. And some other stuff too. 4C would not be on my list.

Also, the NHL only has this game on SN - hook up your *pirate satellite, orbiting your living room* receptors.
Must be using my IP address to spew out that poop.
Game would be on WGR and MSG or maybe ESPN or some such in the US, I would think. Yous are all on your own.

To be clear the Ides are the 15th and the preceding 7 days in several of the months of the Ancient Roman calendar. Also the 13th and 7 preceding days in the other months.
Of course the only Ides ever remembered are the Ides of March since the 15th of March holds historical significance, by most accounts.

Yeah, I agree. Fading away is the natural end to a HOF franchise player. I’d appreciate more if more players faded that way.
Then again, its what we saw here with Perreault so it seems natural.
Fading away is best for franchise players who brought cups to their franchise.
I love that Perreault played his whole career in Buffalo. On the other hand, if he could have hung on and gone to the Canadien at the trade deadline in 1986 he would have had a cup. Sure, there was no clear indication that the Habs were going to get the cup that year, but Patrick was coming into his own as a rockie by the time the trade deadline had rolled around.

Crosby will retire a Penguin. The other big 3 will probably be traded or not re-signed. EK was a huge gamble and a last ditch effort to get the other 3 another cup. They waited too long to try that Hail Mary.

I think Levi needs another year (+ maybe) as Rochester starter.
If I am KA I will be looking to sign a capable (NHL player now) backup for 6K.
I would also sign 6K to a 5 @ $4.5M (or so) contract. He is the #1 now and will be for probably 4 years, baring disaster.

Eh. I think he'll land on his feet. He voluntarily went to work out with the Canucks farm team but from what I understand he was under no exclusive obligation to sign with the Canucks. His agent could have sought other options, if indeed any other options were out there.
If he had any options at all he would have signed a contract long ago. Even the lowly Sabres and (insert every other NHL and AHL team here) were not interested.
He will either retire or go play in Europe.

I grew up a Bocce Club and Santora's kid. I've actually never had a La Nova pizza. I does look good in the photos. Did you know that Santora's (1927) is the 6th oldest pizzeria in the country. Cool!
I love Santora's. Every time we visited family in Buffalo we had their pizza and wings at least once.

I think Joker will be traded in a package for a top 6 forward.
So ...
Dahlin - Byram
Power - Samusie / Johnson
Clifton - Johnson / Samusie
Bryson (who will play about 40 - 45 games with Clifton and Johnson sitting 40(ish) between them)
I do not ever want to see 7D dressed unless due to warmup injury or sickness or some such.

I mean he has 3 stanley cups under his belt, I think this is the type of player the kids can listen too. Even if it's for a short period of time, of course it could be a mott point since he can sign with any team and who knows if he'd even want to be here.
I think he would bring a veteran presence and he could have a good influence. KA could have signed him last summer and didn't. No team did. I think Phil will likely retire at this point.

My wife has this grabber claw thing that she uses to get laundry out of the washer because she’s short. Tonight my two year old was using that claw to hit a ball around the floor, constantly shouting “hockey stick!”. I feel like I’ve done a good job.
Give KA a call and get that little one signed.
