That's what a rue is! A naked human in a bowl of jello. I was never quite sure.

I think it is possible, with Richardson to mentor the defense which was a perceived Maclean weakness.
-
I'd be very happy with DeBoer too. DeBoer is an excellent coach IMO. (but it isn't my decision). I wouldn't be unhappy with Bylsma, to tell you the truth. Although, he wouldn't be my first choice with an unformed roster.
-
Where's Ducky? Playing out West I only remember seeing him a few times. But Maclean was a guy who could score and beat your ass in a fight. he took on heavyweights.
-
That's a lot of cheddar. I'd wager that's twice than all previous Toronto coaches combined.

Wilson and Carlyle pretty much called both players un-coachable. We will see.

Top 100 Non-Contractual Pitches For Relocating to Buffalo
X. Benedict replied to X. Benedict's topic in The Aud Club
All our glorious work and Babcock didn't take 5 minutes to read our work. Pfffft. -
We've been Babpornshlong Blocked. :D

I actually think Maclean as coach would be a blast. Big Event hockey. He knows Babcocks system, he knows when to mug it up. The real knock on him was the players turned on him. For some reason Bryan Murray felt his hands were tied. Maclean knows the game. He's not a perfect coach, but I think he'd work here.

I love Gorges.

Can't wait to bet against Buffalo, eh? Let's see who Buffalo hires. I'm not saying it won't work out in Toronto, I just don't see how they organize it. But in the short term, Toronto is farther away from success than Buffalo.

If you are a GM....you are sandwiched between Shanahan and Babcock, with everyone about to second guess you. That makes it hard to make a roster.
-
It is really an interesting move. The question is, what the hell is Shanahan doing? He's fired a coach, hired and fired a coach, fired a GM, now hired a coach without a GM? Did he really hire a coach to be superior to a GM? If so, I really like this as a Sabres fan, because that organization from Scouting, roster, to farm and Office are a mess. Babcock is a great coach, no doubt. But this is really a serious rebuild for him. What kind of GM comes in and how does this work with Babcock? Good luck Toronto. You've just made Leafs visits that much more interesting.

I thought it was a coin flip. I think Murray got us close. We haven't lost anything here. (other than a bidding war).

Out. C'est la vie. Who is next?

Babcock coached Shanahan.

"Terry has every right to give Lindy Ruff $30 million a year..... " ........ huh? Lindy Ruff? They may call Terry crazy, but there is not necessarily any need for collusion. Owners have total control of coaching salaries as it is. Babcock is in a small class that can command this kind of money( N=2). Quinneville is the other. Coaching is not a very secure profession. Owners don't need to collude to scale this. I predict nobody will touch Babcock's salary for coaching for years to come (in either salary or scale or term, Quinevlle being the possible exception). Though average salaries for coaches by definition will rise, this is a minimal blip in the big picture of NHL costs. Heck, a guy like Pronger is making similar money not playing hockey. Wade Redden was warehoused in the AHL, as was Mike Richards for similar hits. This is nothing.

Give me some sugar, baby.

The simple answer is that in the league framework (CBA), coaches, management, support staff, etc. are not part of the league (or added into bottom line accounting) . This is simply what Terry said he would do. Improve everything around the game that he can. There are no restrictions on this. Build a Harbor Center, make nice locker rooms, triple support and scouting staff, hire the best coaches....none of these things are restricted by the league framework. Terry is just doing what he said he'd do. There is no conflict or contradiction. Enjoy.

On Eichel, On Kaner, On Risto, and Zemgus....

Call it what you will, but it has zero to do with revenue sharing or the CBA or how the pie is sliced up contractually. This is simply Pegula-money.
