  1. haha! I cant argue with the notion of cutting brad smith and signing byrd to a long term deal
  2. Yea that is correct. The way they calcualte the age is if his birthdate is before/on or after September 15th. And you can slide a contract up to 2 times, as long as you are udner 20 years old. So since girgensons was born before september 16, he is considered 19 years old this year. Meaning he can slide his contract again. Now Ristolainen is a little different. Even though he is 18 years old, he turns 19 after September 15th, so he is considered 19 years old for this year of his contract. Meaning he can slide his contract this year, but he wouldn't be able to next year (as he would be considered 20 years old).
  3. yea so if girgensons stay in the ahl again this year and plays less then 10 games, the contract will slide again. Ristolainen is in the same boat :P
  4. August Update I'll try to do one of these at the beginning of each month to recap what's happened in the previous month. Obviously it's the offseason and nothings going on.....but hey some people aged!
  5. Yea it was brutal to watch. Miami sure did spend a ton of free agent money on potential and unproven players. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out
  6. I think stafford is going to have a bounceback year and I hope he plays out his contract with us, and then we get him on a more reasonable contract next time around :)
  7. Oh man, I wish it went back to the great old days of overpaying for average players
  8. Let's pretend washington wants to trade Ovechkin to us. What do you all think it would take? I'm thinking vanek, hodgson, armia, girgensons, ristolainen, mccabe, and a couple picks?
  9. Hey you know what haha. I'm on my phone, this auto correct thing isn't my best friend. GET OFF MY LAWN
  10. David leggio has signed with the capitals. http://www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20130708/SPORTS02/307080029/Washington-Capitals-Rochester-Amerks-David-Leggio-Derek-Whitmore-Hershey-Bears?nclick_check=1 Edit: whoops didnt see it in the FA thread
  11. Hey, how many blue chip prospects does a team need? edit: I also edited the rankings a little and added this bad boy Prospect Overview
  12. I'm really excited to see what he can do. Now iv read he is more of a small framed 5-9 179 type of build. Seems to have a great attitude and work ethic though. I think this is a case of all the scouts (including the sabres) thinking his game doesn't translate to the professional leagues.
  13. Oh man would I love to see Locke play in Rochester next year. He seems to be at the point in the OHL where he isn't learning anything and the competition isn't there for his ability (and his lack of size, strength, and durability aren't being exploited).
  14. I had a long reply to this but I realized it's not worth it. You have a ridiculous opinion.
  15. In the same sense of any other 19 year old top prospect from the 1st round. No different than any other person who was drafted yesterday. They are all "concepts." This isn't 23 year luke adam or the myth of Kassian. This is an elite 19 year old prospect
  16. Except for the fact that our top pick last year with superstar potenital who is only 19. We have an already good young 2nd line center with hodgson, girgensons is doing good in the AHL. And then we also have Larsson coming up soon. And then our raw prospects at the center position include Compher, Hurley, Kea, Nelson, and Baptiste. :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:
  17. I did miss that, but the "moody weirdo" phrase cracks me up.
  18. I think it was a combination of both. Hackett's production did take a bit of a dip last year in the AHL, but it wasn't like he sucked like some people here will want to say. He still posted a GAA of 2.66 and a sv% of .907. I definitely think he is better than that and he will rebound just fine this year
  19. Moody weirdo? Do you all just make this stuff up as you go?
  20. No, really its not. You couldn't be more incorrect.
  21. Wow what a day. I am really excited to see how a lot of these kids turn out. It also looks like one of those 5th, 6th, or 7th round draft picks could be a diamond in the rough. Let me know if I have any mistakes or what changes should be made to those rankings
  22. haha didn't say you were one of them
  23. You forgot to include "If you are one of those people that don't approve of anything the sabres do unless it fits your narrow, inexperienced expectations, then you will disapprove of what they did today"
