  1. Personally I would love to see Ryan play 65 games and still have a lot in the tank for the playoffs, but as long as we have a "capable" backup in Marty, why not give him some games here and there and keep Ryan fresh for the real season.
  2. My bad, I thought you were taking issue with me suggesting Marty plays tonight.
  3. I'm not saying anything to start a goaltender controversy, or shake things up - but rather to give him a rest. He's played 5 straight with back-to-back games coming up, and Ryan's last game was a clunker, even if the goals he allowed were not his fault. I am voting to give him a night off against the Pens, and let him come back fresh for the Leafs. Period, end of story. You agreed the weekend was being split - are you disagreeing about which games to play them in?
  4. No problem here with Marty tonight and Ryan against the Laffs...
  5. Hmmm...ask and ye shall receive...Mair and Meszaros... OK, let's try it again... can Briere, Vanel, Max and Drury be bothered to put the puck in the net? GOAL MAX! 6-2...very nice...now can Briere, Drury & Vanek help out?
  6. Hasn't there been a couple threads over the last few days about what Mair & Peters bring to the team? Could either of them be bothered to hit someone, ANYONE in a black jersey? Hell, I'd settle for watching one of them knock down the girls who scrape the ice during TV timeouts...
  7. And I think you're being awful quick to dismiss the team's struggles against Ottawa this year. One game, two games - that's an aberration. Maybe it's more of the Sens' regular season domination, but right now, once again, they have our number. And really, I couldn't care less that we beat them or this goalie last year - because that was last year. Maybe we'll snap out of it, like we did last year, but until we see it, I am going to be hoping that someone helps us out and knocks Ottawa off before we face them in the playoffs. Maybe we are all being paranoid about this, but I for would feel a lot better if we kicked up the effort and hitting a little and start giving the Sens something to get nervous about. Ugh...5-1...might be time to let Marty finish things up...
  8. The thing that makes this ass-kicking sting even more is that they are doing it to us while they are missing Spezza, Fisher and Vermette. BTW, Heatley vs. Buffalo this year - 5G: 5 G, 7 A, 12 Pts; +2. Can someone get a body on him PLEASE?
  9. But to be fair, there wasn't much chance of us seeing Florida in the playoffs last year. Struggling against a legitimate Eastern Conference contender should scare the hell out of us.
  10. All we can do now is smile and say "thank you sir, may I have another." Stupid penalties, horrible PP, guys losing 1-on-1 battles, can't get a BB past Emery in the 1st period... good thing we play again Friday.
  11. If Miller stays hot, the Sabres skate away with this one. They look focused and recharged; if they play their game no one can hang with them. I am all for anything that gets Paetsch more game experience, and in the process keeps Teppo fresh for the postseason. Maybe Teppo can pick up Michael Jackson's hyperbaric chamber in his estate auction...
  12. As of Dec. 26, (according to SI.com) Miller leads the Eastern Conference goaltender voting: Goaltenders Ryan Miller, Buffalo, 473,228; Martin Brodeur, New Jersey, 431,046; Marc-Andre Fleury, Pittsburgh, 324,170; Cam Ward, Carolina, 187,374; Andrew Raycroft, Toronto, 178,155; Kari Lehtonen, Atlanta, 149,818; Olaf Kolzig, Washington, 123,646; Henrik Lundqvist, NY Rangers, 114,194. It's a pretty good lead, and online voting closes Jan. 2 at 8:59 p.m. PT, so unless something big happens, I think he should be the starter.
  13. Sylvester & Rayzor mentioned that in the postgame - tonight's win cemented Lindy's spot as the Eastern Conference All-Star HC, meaning he won't get a vacation over the All-Star break.
  14. Anyone else get a kick out of the faux-tough guys who act like they want to get involved in the scrum but just hang around the edge yapping? Sort of like Larsen was doing in that last scrum that set up the 4-on-4...
  15. Wow, quite a think tank going on here between Rayzor and Sylvester about Al's "PP goal" on the penalty shot. Rayzor can't seem to grasp why Hedican didn't get out of the box when Kotalik scored on the penalty shot...
  16. Ryan, WTF? Team is working so hard in front of you to get you the shutout, and you let a crap shot like that in? EDIT: Quit making excuses, Lorentz... PENALTY SHOT - Go get 'em, Al!
  17. Allright boys, let's knock them out of the arena to start the 3rd...
  18. Will SOMEONE please knock Staal on his ass? Please?
  19. Effort wasn't bad, but need to throw some more pucks at the net and need to stop getting cute with the puck.
  20. Great play by Pommer... Need to shoot the damn puck...1 SOG isn't going to win many games...
  21. Good to see Carolina is starting their version of Marty Biron tonight...
  22. Great point by Rayzor on the post-game - if the league had enforced Bertuzzi's suspension when the league came back from the lockout, it might have prevented things like this from happening again.
  23. Sorry, Crosschecking, got all fired up about the Nichol thing. Yeah, it's from Wedding Crashers - I assume you've seen it?
  24. Spacek rode Nichol into the net on a 2-on-2 rush, and after Nichol got up he sucker punched Spacek essentially from behind.
