  1. Nice. Am I dreaming, or didn't the league try having each team do their own skills competition, and the top 3 or 5 in each event were supposed to go to the All-Star game for the league-wide competition? I thought maybe early 90s they tried that... Yes, the rail cam is not worth all the hype, IMO.
  2. Does anyone know who will be competing in which events?
  3. What? No pre-game recognition on the scoreboard? No PA announcement welcoming back two players who gave so much to the Sabres? <_< [/sarcasm] As for the goalies, with the All-Star break looming, I could see Ryan playing three of the next four games - both this weekend, and then one next weekend - for selfish reasons, I hope he goes against Columbus next Friday - but coming off the All-Star break I think Lindy might be inclined to sit him and let him play the the Isles next Saturday.
  4. Nice. The original release date was supposed to be December, so my wife was looking for it for a Christmas gift. Guess it's been moved to the birthday... BTW, there are a couple websites that will repaint current McFarlane figures into pretty much anyone you want. They look like decent quality, and aren't too expensive either - around $55 - so it might be a nice gift idea. Check out Custom Action Sports
  5. Like I said earlier, it wouldn't be a NESN broadcast if they didn't have something to bitch about...
  6. No argument here, hoplesly. Not speaking as a Sabres homer, but I really thought Miller should have gotten consideration as the no. 1 star, even with the loss - but I would have been OK with him no. 2 and THomas no. 1. Savard? 1 G in the 1st period, -1, that's a no. 1 star game?
  7. Exiled, I would say wait until you see the effort on all three SO attempts - you'll probably change your mind. They didn't really test Thomas at all - he didn't really have to move to make any of the saves. On a side note, my three Sabres stars for the game: 1. Miller 2. Miller Roy - 1 G, 1 A; was flying all over the ice for most of the 2nd & 3rd, and kept challenging Chara... 3. Miller Paille - jumped up and looked like he had been with the team all year; 1 A, took regular shifts and never looked out of place After the countless big saves he made, I wanted to give all three stars to Ryan, because he really stole a point for the Sabres today. Looking forward to Wednesday night...
  8. I have to agree with hopelesly - I think NESN was hyping Thomas' saves, which weren't that tough; and I think the Sabres put in a piss-poor effort on the SO. And Exiled, I really don't think I know what you're talking about. I think that the SO is all about exploiting mismatches, exposing & attacking weaknesses, and being creative and unpredictable, so I have a big problem with all three of them going in with at the same slow speed, with the same weak, unoriginal dekes and same poor results. Going three the same way is fine if you score on one or two of them. Going the same way all three times and all three having crappy results is a waste of time and effort, regardless of whether going the same way in a future shootout gets them a goal (the idea of them trying to set up future SO goals with three crappy efforts is one I can't even fathom.) For those results we could have sent Peters, Mair & Spacek out there...
  9. All pretty good points. Really wish we could figure out how to keep Paille in the lineup. End of the 3rd period was disgusting, but I guess we shouldn't expect anything different from a Kerry Fraser game...
  10. Please don't say anything that will attract some of the retard rodeo regulars...
  11. None of the attempts were anything to write home about, but of the three, I would say Kotalik had the best chance of scoring. Vanek & Briere looked like they had no idea what they wanted to do as they skated in. Both goalies played out of their minds, so I can't fault the Sabres for only scoring two goals for the fourth straight game.
  12. All three guys, no frigging plan on how to beat Thomas. Ridiculous. All three, same move, same shot, same save.
  13. Sturm for Boston - goal. Kotalik - save Thomas.
  14. Briere first for Sabres - save Thomas.
  15. NESN had a commercial during the Intermission featuring a guy named Bill Hite...made me stop in my tracks. Nice sucker punch, :censored:
  16. Those watching the NESN feed - did anyone understand what the hell Chara was saying to Houda?
  17. Wouldn't be NESN if they weren't bitching about something...I think the only thing they get more pleasure from, aside from complaining, is crowing and gloating...
  18. Yes, but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to which feed you'll get. Go to this link and you can see which feed you'll be getting for each game...
  19. BTW, does Peters read the forums here? He got ripped pretty good (deservedly so) after his weak effort against Belak, but that was a completely different fight style...he actually engaged the other player and threw some punches! Actually, even the NESN guys are calling it the save of the year...it was spectacular...
  20. Ugh. There was a big one - them posing the thought of Drury in a B's uniform. Thanks a lot, NESN... :censored: WOW! DOUBLE WOW! TRIPLE WOW! UNREAL SAVE MILLER!
  21. To echo what Labatt said, none of us are "turning" on them either. We're not saying they suck, they won't win anything, we don't want to be fans anymore - we're just frustrated with all the same mistakes being made over & over, and getting tired of watching them put out half the effort half the time. This isn't a recent change, or a new development in the season- they have been struggling with their effort and focus for the better part of two months. The difference is before they were able to get away with playing 20 minutes of hockey but now they can't.
  22. Man, when it rains, it pours. We cannot catch a break... :( Of course, being outshot 19-8 is never a good thing...
  23. And have lost 4 of our last 6. It's nice to point to the last ten games, but seeing as we're coming off back-to-back losses twice in our last six games, I'm not going to act like everything is OK, this is just a bump in the road, or whatever. Like I said, I'm not pounding the panic button yet, but I'm not going to be all Pollyana about this team's play as of late.
  24. No, scored just after the PP ended...
  25. Anyone else completely at the end of their rope with this PP? I mean WTF? Bruins come back and show us what an effective Bruins PP looks like....makes all the difference in the world when you make quick, accurate passes and then get your damn shot through and on net... Huge save by Miller just before the goal, and the cross-ice pass.
