I wonder if the driving force behind Ted Nolan's hesitancy to sign - is wait and see how GMTM's first draft goes? Right now, other than a paycheck, what coach who wants to win, would want to coach the gutted line up that's on the ice?
How would you feel if you know you are suppose to coach a team that is tanking it next year?
-
The way this team is playing now we are going to be in the payoffs next year!
-
Yes!You guys still wondering about goaltending. Enroth looks like he couldn't wait for the #1 spot
-
And how do the sign other players if everyone knows they are tanking it next year???My biggest fear for next season is how we're ever going to manage to hit the cap floor if we dump both of these guys. I'm all for using Uncle Terry's money to over-pay free agents to come play here. Specifically Ott.
-
I think Myers is happy he didn't get traded
-
I'm alright with this, but what about the signing of free agents this year? How can they add good players and still tank? Why some people don't want elite talent is beyond me... Who wants a guy like Kane or Toews? Crosby or Malkin? Stamkos?
This should be the most excited the fanbase should be since after the President's Cup season.

If that organization keeps that idiot they deserve to lose. Boy did they get hosed in the Vanek dealI'm thinking the isles will try super hard in the off season to sign a few ufa just so Snow can keep his job.
-
Everything is going fine and some darn Sabre's fan throws some basic statistics at me, lolThey have the least number of goals for in the league and traded their last scoring winger. They have the most shots against in the league and traded their franchise GT. If this team finishes 7th or better next year I will send you a case of beer.
:bag:
But for the record, I want a case of Southern Tier IPA
-
I think they will add a few players in off season, a scoring forward and a veteran d man and compete for a playoff spot. Call me a pre-season optimist, but I don't think the team is that far off. They will finish 7th next year. And that just might make a lot of people really angry

My question is, if they plan on tanking, how do you go out and sign talent? But they HAVE to spend money. So I'm not sure that tanking is even realisticThis is what I'm hoping for, I want to see some good hockey next year, I'm "middle aged" and don't have the time to wait 2-3 years to see good hockey. As well I can't believe that the players or the majority of the fans buy into "tanking" for another year or two. To some, it may seem like a good idea now, but how long can you follow ###### hockey ? Ticket sales will suffer and the chance of getting good FA's or resigning your top players will be nearly non-existant. JMO
I don't know what to think of Murray yet, the body of work is way too small, he moved his UFA's as any GM would do, but we don't know what the return will be yet. The immediate return doesn't seem so good, but it depends on how the prospects turn out to really judge if he did a good job or not and that could 2-3 years away.

I'm kind of excited about the rebuild. Remember, life is about the journey, not the destinationuh huh
-
Well, Holtby just got pulled from Caps game
-
He said today that they are going after free agents this summer and that players will want to come here. They have to spend money, obviously, just wonder how that plays out and what the plan is for next year, do we want to win or lose?
-
That's just awesome! Tremendous infusion of talent into organization. Hope they scout and pick well!If the Blues make the WCF, we will have four picks in the top 40 in June.
If they don't, we have 5 in the top 65 or so.
-
They better not! That would be stupidAs an aside, especially because of what we gave up, I really hope that we do not trade Myers.
-
I am reserving my judgment for 5 years on this trade! Very high minded of me really
-
Where's the due process??? A grand jury needs to decide if there should be an indictment!
-
Really, who would ever think an 18 year old would get bigger? lolDude. There's no point in trying to analyze this trade on that level, since no one here has a crystal ball. TM and his staff have their list, their values, their priorities. It's clear that TM wanted the college kid, and wanted him enough to pay a modest premium. The kid was a 4th rounder when selected, but sounds as though he's grown by leaps and bounds since. We won't know if this was a good idea for a while. Moving on.

Should be on GR @ 1:30

Interesting to see the crowd turn on PLF. A few months ago folks were acting like he was a savior. Now, he's a meddler and good riddance.
He's expendable, we are all expendable
-
Why was LaFontaine brought here anyway? He was a familure popular figure whose face was the face of change in the organization. I guess he didn't want to just be a figurehead. but that's all he was

Oops, too much cough syrup today. But this is really strange. But things like this happen all the time -
So the company line is that Pat was hired to lead the team through a transition period. Do they think we're idiots?

I think his connections, expertise along with his stature were used sort of like a consultant. Just a guess. He probably left over the fact they plan on tanking it next year and he didnt want any part of that
