again it really wasnt the Ds fault.  Cant  count the number of brutal sacks..

They were better in the 2nd half but they gave up 20 in the first half

McDermott and staff were able to make corrections at half, just like they did last week.  BUT when are they going to have a game plan that can stop the run right from the opening whistle?  Why does it always seem to take a half to figure out what their opponent is doing?

Allen is crossing the 30 barrier and we wasted his youth with mediocre coaching and a GM that can’t draft. This team is the NYJ without Allen.

And as Sabres fans we know it is never going to change.  Beane and McDermott will be here through Allen's entire career and then some

when does Pegula become as vilified by Bills fans as he is by Sabres fans ?

Why are you trading for defense prospects? You know how many defense prospects we have? I can't imagine a worse scenario than taking a top 6 forward and trading him for ANOTHER defense prospect. No.

I want them to trade for a guy who could come in and play now, or at least really close.
that knocks Bryson off your game day roster and then you will have the chance to trade Power in the offseason in a real hockey trade for a top 6

  4. tonight it was obvious that something has to give with the Tuch situation!

you simply cannot have a guy wearing an A out on the ice playing like it's Sunday afternoon game of shinny.

Here are the teams I’m contacting and seeing if they have any interest in Tuch

    1. New Jersey Devils

With Hughes out long-term, they could use another forward. Would they consider moving Anton Silayev? Probably not — Casey feels like the more realistic target.

    2. Montreal Canadiens

Reinbacher is their top RHD prospect and likely too rich for them to move, but maybe they’d consider dealing their top LHD prospect, Engström.

    3. Vancouver Canucks

Their best prospect, Willander, is almost certainly untouchable. But Kudryavtsev might be available — a shutdown type who already has some NHL games under his belt.

    4. Utah Mammoth

They’ve got both Simashev and Lamoureux — massive defenders who are either in the NHL (Simashev) or close to it (Lamoureux). Maybe they’d view Tuch as the kind of piece that could help push them into the playoffs.

With Tuch being the top prize in this year’s UFA market, hopefully the Sabres can capitalize and land a better prospect than you’d normally expect for a player on an expiring deal.

Dahlin looked fine for the most part, if anything he seemed to start trying to lug the puck to much due to passing issues.

Thompson was hit or miss most of the game. Good shifts, bad shifts; effort was there but he was constantly getting hooked and held by Kadri and never once got a power play from it.

The 4th line looked motivated but Dunne is effectively a liability in any shooting or passing situation.

    Muel looked solid

Trying to think if anyone else looked ok; Ellis the goalie wasn’t bad. The back up sat on the bench well.

The No Goal on Dahlin was a joke and seemed to scare Thompson from going net front the rest of the game. Not that I blame him honestly.

    The bad:

Pretty much everything else including the Powerplay being limp

Power, I have zero clue what to do with him. He puts up solid analytics most nights and looked great for the short time he had Kesselring but his net front defense is less effective than if you put a literal pylon out front.

Byram, what happened to you tonight?

Quinn is a glass blunderbus with a scope. He’s either making them or himself look bad, problem being it tends to be the latter

I’d love to know why this team takes anyone lightly? Why would these players ever think they have any right to believe they are far superior to their opponent? Treat every ***** team like you did the Oilers and Panthers; that is what they all should look like to you!

Now do Tuch? One of their Assistant captains

This is how the Sabres slowly kill their fans little by little. Every year we get that tiny glimmer of hope where they look like they might be becoming something and then they deliver an absolute turd of a game like this one.

The most winnable game on the schedule. Bottom feeder team tired on a long road trip should be easy pickings but Sabres have no fight, lose every puck battle, play shoddy D as usual and even quit on home ice with 20 seconds remaining. Disgusting effort all around. Usual suspects all garbage. Timmons really turning into garbage now too. There is absolutely nothing positive you can say about this game. Just pure absolute trash.

Games like this (and we get them every year and more than once) make me hate this team and want EVERYBODY fired and EVERYBODY gone.

Yep, this has been the story for about nine years now. They string together a few good games, creep back into the playoff race, and then a team they should beat comes into town for a mid-week game—and the Sabres completely lay an egg.

Krebs and Malenstyn don't offer anything that can't be supplied by Kozak and Greenway. If I'm in charge, I'm chopping Malenstyn first, Krebs 2nd.

Am I the only one who disagrees 1000% with this take? Are we looking at stats or actually watching the games?

Malenstyn is exactly the kind of fourth-liner we’ve been begging for: blocks shots, kills penalties, plays with energy, hits, and can skate.

He’s a lock on my roster, no question.
