    What a joke.
If I knew missing the playoffs would be the end of Beane and McDermott   I would sign up for it.   As a Sabres fan, I know they are here for awhile still

    Dallas got Pickens for a 3rd and a 5th

imagine if Beane didn't live in a world where wide receivers don't matter?

im almost to the point of hoping they miss the playoffs, just for a chance to see the end of the Beane / McDermott era

UPL contributed more on goal #2. Your defense of him is curious.  Players turn pucks over all the time. It doesn’t have to result in a goal.

Did you actually see the turnover?  He (Timmins) put it right on the stick on the penguin player in the slot.
I'm not defending UPL Im saying that the argument that's it's all in him is too simplistic.

Lyons overall numbers are respectable. I wonder why they seem to have abandoned the idea of him being the #1 unless he's nursing something minor that won't go away.

He's 0-3-1 on the road with a .874 save percentage.    That's not respectable

Not understanding how UPL is “blameless” in the sequence in the second goal against.  He constantly over pursues and slides out of position.  His positioning caused the puck to go where it did, and him attempting to clear and eventually lose his stick.  Losing his stick was the root cause for the second goal. If he has his stick, there is not a gaping hole between his legs. If he is better positioned to begin with, he doesn’t lose his stick and the goal does not occur.

And it happens moments after Quinners goal.  It’s a momentum shift.  If I’m on the bench I’m thinking are you ***** kidding me…again?

Now is he the only reason? Of course not.  Plenty of blame to go around.  But he’s one of a few that bear the brunt of the blame.

Moneypuck has expected goals 4.05 to 1.65 in favor of Buffalo.  Jarrys number was 2 saves above expected, UPL was 1.35 below expected.  He contributed to the L.

This is how I feel about UPL.

I never said he was blameless. I said you shouldn’t blame him without also acknowledging that Timmins’ play was the main contributing factor on both the first and second goals against.

This is crazy.  We all want to blame UPL but in reality all 3 goalies have been terrible on the road

I'm embarrassing for several other reasons.  Timmins has his worst game of the year for sure. I'll have to reevaluate my "UPL is always the problem" stance

I don't mind people blaming UPL in general.  I know I have lots of issues with him ! BUT tonight if you blame him  and don't mention the 2 plays by Timmins that directly resulted in the chances, then it's being lazy

If that was Ellis in net tonight, the goalie wouldn't be blamed

Reading stuff on twitter about Tuch's wife being from BC. That could be a thing. Byram is another name they apparently like.

Quinn for Power as the primaries? That would interest me depending on details.

My dream, Quinn Hughes, Petersson and Garland for Quinn, Norris, Power. Tuch (and whatever picks/prospects make that happen).

I'd like to keep Tuch, but I don't want to pay him 8 years at 11.5 as rumored and I don't want him gone for nothing. Quinn, Power and Norris are all players who disappoint me regularly in one way or another so any of them can go and I'd welcome it.

If it's me I'm bumping Krebs out of the line up. Norris is 2C, McLeod goes back to 3C and Kozak stays on the grind line. When Kulich comes back something else will have to give.

You would trade all that just to see Hughes walk in a year ?
he's been quite open to wanting to play with his brothers in NJ

This one was more meaningful to me than the Chicago game. A couple more and I might start to believe. Cautious optimism.

Zucker has made a big difference. The lines look more balanced now.

If Norris ever comes back Östlund goes back down. Kesselring for Bryson, there's your full team. No idea what the goalie plan is as always but UPL made some good stops today. I'd be happy to never see Greenway again tbh.

I don't know what happened to Samuelsson over the summer - maybe his dad told him he was a disgrace to the family name - but he's not the same player at all. He finally looks like the solid defender we wanted/expected and is kind of giving us what a lot of us hoped Kesselring would bring after the trade. In any event his play has changed things a lot.

The biggest impacts on this team over last year are Doan being able to play top 6, Kozak being solid bottom 6, and most of all Samuelsson being solid.

Refs were far too involved in this game and the Benson no goal was bs but there are tons of these every season, or even every week. It's just garbage but it is what it is and they overcame it so whatever.

I've seen Carolina play better than that but all the same Sabres beat them today plain and simple. They were the better team. Now we see how long this lasts.

    100%. Cautious optimism.
