  1. My middle child, Ollie, has recently been assessed as Autistic. We haven't been up to Strong for the official full medical diagnosis, apparently this takes months, but we've recently been approved by the County for 4 extended sessions of in-home therapy per week. Ollie is 2 years, 4 months, and was identified by the Early Intervention folks as having severe cognitive and communication delays, and moderate physical delays. I know some of you here in Sabre Space have special needs kids of your own, so I'm throwing this out there asking for any advice. Either with Autism, or dealing with the various programs designed to help kids with special needs.

Ollie is an awesome kid. I just want as much information as I can get, so I can help him out as much as possible. I'm scared, as any parent would be, I think, but I'm also excited to be able to help him adapt to a world designed for people who interact with it a little differently than he does.

    Thanks.

Have you applied for Medicaid yet? If not, apply for the EDCD waiver. The EDCD waiver is geared towards elderly patients that need home care, but right now it's the main one that kids with Autism get approved for. I know in VA, we have "Moms in Motion" which is a group you can call and get help applying for the EDCD waiver. I'm not sure what's in NY, but I'm sure you can find some on the internet. If you're able to get Medicaid, it will open up a lot of doors for autism services as a lot of places only accept Medicaid. By any chance if you get denied for the EDCD waiver, you can apply for the DD waiver, but you can be on a waiting list for years. Hope this helps.

  2. Zeppelin is rated a top 5 band of all time by most people that I see rating them, and they are indeed that, so I contend that they are not overrated.

Not everyone likes them. Also, if this is going strictly off of popularity, then nobody mentioned in this thread is overrated.

  3. Did Nirvana launch that? I don't believe so. Honestly I just don't like the kind of music Metallica makes, and think all of their stuff is the same. But again, just MO

AC/DC and Roses are just entertaining, nothing special there.

Queen has the greatest lead singer of all time, and probably the greatest performer in the history of entertainment. Zeppelin is just so diverse and unique.

Smells Like Teen Spirit launched the grunge/alternative movement into the mainstream.

I prefer Metallica's stuff from the 1980's, but I have to admit the Black Album is a classic and put them on a whole new level. I'm looking forward to seeing them tomorrow in Philly.

There's no denying Freddie Mercury was a phenomenal vocalist, but a lot of Queen's songs are corny. I'm so sick of hearing Bohemian Rhapsody! Another One Bites The Dust is my favorite from them. Otherwise, just like Zepp, they're overplayed and overrated.

  4. Pink Floyd, one of the most overrated bands in history. Right up there with Nirvana, Metallica, and Aerosmith.

Agree about Pink Floyd and Aerosmith. I also think Queen,Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and Guns-N-Roses  are overrated as well.

Nirvava launched the grunge/alternative movement in the mainstream so I don't think they're overrated. Metallica has reinvented themselves several times over the years and continues to thrive, so I don't think they are overrated either

  5. He hasn't won any games yet either though. You're setting the bar way too low. Because Buffalo (or something).

Buffalo - where Pittsburgh cast offs and also rans come to get paid.

From Tom Donahoe and Doug Whaley to Ted Black, Ken Sawyer, Dan Bylsma and now Jason Botterill   :wallbash:  :censored:

  6. This might have been my favorite moment as a Sabres fan. I can't recall being more excited.

It's a shame everything had to end the way it did. This moment could have been all-time great.

Those two years were a fun time to be a Sabres fan! Too bad our whole defense was injured the year before against Carolina as we were 20 minutes from the Stanley Cup.

  7. BTW, I'm pretty sure it's not the best thing this millennium, I listened to it yesterday and it's not bad. Apparently, yesterday was "listen to metal bands for the first time day" thanks to you; after EW, I tried out some Mastodon but I didn't make it through the Something of Sand album before switching to my own personal "Album I own but underrate", Overkill's Horrorscope. The cover of  Frankenstein may be one of my top-10 covers of all time.

Horrorscope is a great album! it's been ten years since I've seen Overkill in concert.

  8. I brought this up over a year ago and with today's events that transpired, it's a good time to look at this again. Did GMTM give up too much between draft picks and prospects when he made trades? If you believe so, do you think it's a reason why the Sabres aren't further along than they should be?

  9. I liked Murray, but considering the Leafs, Rangers and Oilers leaped frogged the Sabres with their “tank jobs,” it’s not surprising to see him go. Bylsma needed to go as he lost the team and did not tailor his “system” to the strength of his players.

Constant turmoil with the Bills and Sabres. The passionate fans of Western New York deserve so much better."

Have to agree. While I like the Pegula’s, they need to get their act together and stop meddling so much with both teams
