Players want to come to winners.  The amount of time it's been since you've heard positive things is equal to the amount of time this team has been bad.  How soon you've forgotten the hysteria around here in '05-06.  The problem is, the stupid moves the team made started showing up right around '07.

Agreed! Not resigning the teams top Centers was the biggest boneheaded move. Next was resigning Vanek, instead of getting multiple first round picks from Edmonton.

  2. The Sabres were the first sports team the Pegula’s bought, so they were brand new to owning and operating a sports franchise and it showed. The LaFontaine hire backfired in many ways, between LaFontaine quitting abruptly and Pat’s choice of GM [Tim Murray]. Murray gave away all the assets the Sabres were stockpiling during “the tank” as he tried to accelerate the Sabres rebuild, which left the Sabres void of talent and depth. The players that Murray overpaid for were traded away by the new Sabres GM [Botterill], so in actuality, all those years of tanking only got the Sabres three good players: Eichel, Reinhart and Dahlin. So after being at the bottom of the league for so long, I’m sure it started to impact a lot of people in the organization, but I don’t think overall the Pegula’s are bad owners, just inexperienced. With the Bills, the Pegula’s have had many of talks with Bill Polian, so Bill was able to provide a lot of mentoring to Terry and Kim. With the Sabres, they’ve had to learn as they went along.

Yeah but the cap hit is $0, so who cares lol

I hear ya about the cap hit, but from an organizational standpoint, having to pay Ehrhoff $879k for 14 years after he's been off the team, Hodgson $791K for eight years and Leino $1.2M for six years after both players have been off the team are just bad contracts/business decisions.

Oh my God, I just thought about what it would be like to make $857K per year for the next 8 years, and not even have to go to work.

You and me both! Too bad we didn't play sports on a professional level.

I think Ehrhoff has been getting this settlement payment every year since 2014?

If this is the only move he makes today then he should be fired.

According to the interview with Darren Dreger on WGR550 last week, he wasn't expecting much from Botterill before the trade deadline. Dreger believes Botterill will be very busy trying to overhaul the roster in the offseason. Maybe Botterill will be busy trying to find a new job? Who knows?

Can we stop talking about O'Reilly trade after 2 freaking years.   No one on here has any clue how to fix this team seeing we keep talking about a trade that went bad for us.  Personally I appreciate more ideas on how to correct the current squad.   But lets keep harping about the O'Reilly trade instead.

What about not resigning Drury and Briere?!

Nothing more than a sloooow rebuild... nothing to see here but an inpatient fan base losing its shiite

Agreed. The Sabres most likely would have been out of the rebuild mode if it hadn't been for Murray trading away almost every single asset the Sabres gained at the start of the tank job. So, in essence, the tank produced Eichel, Reinhart and Dahlin and that's it. All the prospects and draft picks were given away like a drunken sailor's paycheck on payday weekend. I get JBots logic of trying to build through the draft, have the players develop in the minor leagues, then get called up when they are ready, but so far, it's not working for the Sabres and I'm not sure if he's the right GM for the job. Maybe he needed more experience as an Asst. GM before the Pegula's hired him as the Sabres GM?

I've seen them a dozen of so times in my life but I skipped their "final tour" last year because it happened during the summer at an outdoor venue and after doing that in 2017 I had no interest in baking in the heat again. I'm happy as hell that this year they'll be in Raleigh (2 hour drive for me) during the fall, even though I guess it doesn't matter as much given the indoor venue.

You're right about the mosh pits though. There's actually a modicum of respect given to each other in their pits. The worst pit I've ever seen was oddly enough at a Pennywise concert. Nothing but punches and swinging elbows and I'm just too damn old for that. I'd have to snort some angel dust first before I had any interest in that type of violence.

Best pits are still the old thrash metal bands as everyone is there to have a good time bashing into each other and pick each other off the ground after getting knocked down. The worst pit I saw was when Sick of it All opened for Slayer years ago, nothing but punches, elbows and kicks in the pit.

I've been in a couple rough pits, but mostly good ones. The kind where if someone falls, they all pull you up, if someone's being a dick, they get their ***** wrecked. The bad ones were when I was younger at small local metal/punk shows and everyone was just trying to prove they weren't posers by getting bloodied up. But yeah, the Slayer pit last year was probably the nicest one I've ever been in. It was kinda amazing. Everyone was just so happy to be there. Now, a week later at the Rob Zombie/Manson show, it was a bit rougher because the people were much more the hot topic edgelord drug crowd. I didn't go into any, I was feeling old and tired and had to go to work in the morning.

This year is like... embarrassing bands I liked when I was in 7th grade... so Alice in Chains (which'll never be AiC without Layne but my friend says they're good live) with Korn... lol... and then Knotfest, not because I've ever been a Slipknot fan (but I hear they're a spectacle to see) but because Gojira and Behemoth are playing. Could be great, could be terrible- both at Darien Lake

And then sabills and his lady and dark and I are going to Detroit for Black Keys in October. Saw them once a few years back- it was a good time. Looking forward to it.

I saw Slayer earlier this year in MD and I'm going again in November when they come to VA. I saw Alice In Chains last year and I was impressed with their new singer, he sounds a lot like Layne in concert.

This Saturday my son and I will be at ArtPark to see The Headstones.  Canadian Punk/Grunge for you heathens unaware of 97.7 FM.  They might be my favorite live band,  We see them every time they swing around to Buffalo/Niagara Falls.  They put on a straight up rock your ass off show without all of the expensive toys.

We've got VIP tix for Slipknot later this Summer.   Josie, they aren't the spectacle they used to be.  Their shows have tamed.  I'm sure it's got to do with them getting older.  Their shows up to about 5-6 years ago were an experience for sure.

I'm going to see Slipknot when they come to VA. I saw that twice at the Ozzfest, so it will be nice to see them again. I like Volbeat a lot and they put on a good show, so I'm glad they're one of the openers.

I was on a horror movie jag with a girlfriend in college. We were going to watch all of the franchise films. We got to Halloween 3 and the movie was so bad and honestly so bizarre we both lost interest in watching any more movies for a long time. Horrible movie. How that got made as halloween 3 is totally beyond me

John Carpenter's original idea was to make movies based around "Halloween" and not keep them all around Michael Myers. But once Carpenter saw everyone's reactions when people wanted to see Michael Myers, he changed it back for the 4th Halloween. I think "Prince of Darkness" was originally intended to be in the Halloween franchise.

  12. Halloween. While we were out in L.A. this year, we went to Pasadena and found the original Myers house (which is now a business).

Halloween II and III are really good. I enjoyed the new Halloween (saw it at the theaters on Friday). The Conjuring, the Insidious movies, the Paranormal Activity movies (except "the Marked Ones), Evil Dead I, II and Army of Darkness and Devil's Rejects.

Newer films this year I enjoyed were Hereditary and Unfriended: Dark Web.
