  1. Those comparisons are 30-40 years old at this point. This isn't the same league

Maybe. I'd still rather roll the dice on a potentially brain-dead Rosen instead of a guaranteed brain-dead Allen

More INTs than TDs is never good in any era. And considering Daboll has been a QB coach and offensive coordinator for years, I think Allen will be fine. I'd rather have a kid willing to listen than a know-it-all questioning my every decision.

  2. Yeah, Jim Kelly made a few of those too.  So did Brett Favre.  Give him the right system and he'll be fine.

And so did Elway who threw 52 INTs his first 3 years against 47 TDs.

Because people are dumb. The same reason Rodgers fell to 24

Maybe the concussions were a game changer - one more serious head hit and Rosen could be done.

  3. Every time I hear someone, Allen or the Bills or National Pundits say anything about how he can play in cold weather, I shake my head and lose respect for whoever says it.

Allen likes blue cheese on his wings. He will be #17.

My Kelly jersey is worn out - haven't felt like replacing it until now.

  4. They cited that it snowed when they visited him, in addition to their points about wind and rainy games.

Southern California kids Brady and Rodgers seem to be doing fine in their respective weather cities, because they're good at qb.

Also, Allen is from California too.

But anyway, this is just another example in the long line of the old school check list, size, arm strength, grit, roll-out abilities, ability to execute the plays we give him to be able to succeed, mentality clashing with a more modern emphasis on pocket awareness, progressions, and creativity when your structure breaks down and impossible-to-plan-for things happen. Ideally, your QB has all of these traits. But one group will consistently draft Russell, Allen, Leaf, Boller, Losman (and fail) and also draft Favre, McNabb, Flacco, and guys like that. The other group will take Manning over Leaf, and prefer Matt Ryan to Brett Favre, and fail on guys whose names we usually forget because they don't generate a lot of mainstream media fanfare.

It's obvious which way I lean, but like all things, how staunchly the two sides represent themselves and see the other doesn't necessarily reflect accuracy of success rate. Like it or not, we're tied into Allen, and it isn't the most absurd selection on the face of the planet. We all knew it was a legitimate possibility. We just need to see how it all plays out, and hope like hell they get it worked out.

I've got almost all of my frustration out now. Even as the old-school mentality goes, Allen is hard to like, because of how well correlated his bad tape is to his bad numbers. But he's that classic old school guy, and could be teachable. You settle his feet down, you see his accuracy improve, and those isolated moments of raw talent become more frequent and are less-often punctuated with baffling throws and decisions. But you have committed to a massive project and need to be all in on him for the time being, and it is going to take a lot of work.

And of course, we'll all be here watching whenever it starts, as I'm not sure he's NFL ready in September.

Neither Brady or Rodgers is from Southern California.

  5. Despite having what, the 118th ranked running offense? They still leaned heavily on it relative to all other teams with supposed prospect qbs.

We drafted Jimmy Clausen/Ryan Leaf, only our guy could only dream to have put up their stats.

I'm not embarrassed because he said it, I'm embarrassed because he's ###### right.

    Total d-bag

His team will end up higher in the standings than all three of those teams..

    Maybe this year with Bradford.

  6. My issue is that post-snap reads and accuracy are the two most difficult things to learn, and there simply aren't examples of guys being bad at them in college and having those particular things coached up. But history is littered with teams thinking they COULD and failing.

And Josh's are worse than bad.

Seriously, don't you think McBeane and all of the scouts looked at this ?

  7. Mad? Mad is what happenes when you stub your toe on a couch someone moved 3 inches to clean. Mad is being stuck in traffic for 20 minutes for a rubber necked delay. I'm ###### apocalyptic right now. I'd pick up Josh Allen at the airport, Plat drugs on him and call the cops. Get this ###### away from my team.

Take your frustrations out on McBeane. Find out why they picked Allen over the fragile one. Since they couldn't get to #2 and only the two Josh(s) were left, maybe they thought Allen is a better fit in a blue collar town. Or maybe they didn't like Rosen's medicals or his attitude. And maybe they didn't like Jackson, as he's still out there.

  8. there aren't words you can say that will make me think otherwise. Allen is going to suck. I feel this way 1000 times more than you think he will succeed. Hes terrible. It's unfortunate. You may be my conduit to pure Joy reciting his stats from the 5-10 NFL game he may end up playing.

I want him to succeed but the Bills colossul failure in handling this draft is going to fall on you for your support of this terrible QB.

Good luck dude. I hope he's great.

No you don't - you hope he sucks cuz you're mad. Don't worry - all things pass.

  9. You better be right as you are forever tied to him. Every single hiccup, stumble, stink eye from Josh will be thrown in your face from nor until hes outta the league. Thankfully, that won't be too far in the future. (BTW I won't be the one leading the charge)

Lol, whatever. Put in on my tombstone ...

  10. A better comparable would be Gramps' reaction when all of Allen's physical tools translate to being unable to play the position.

Nothing we haven't seen before, but Rosen could be out of football in a year if he gets hammered. Bradford is fragile - hope the Cards OL is decent this year.

  11. He's a 6'5" guy with a canon arm. When scouts create their ideal QB on Madden they create a 6'5" guy with a canon arm. The fact he processes the game slowly and isn't good at reading defenses apparently doesn't matter. Allen needs 2 years of pro development to even hope to make it.

So what's 2 years ? You want Rosen so you can throw him right in  behind our great current OL line ?

  12. That Schefter Tweet has misdirection written all over it.

The Browns want someone -- the Jets, you'd think -- to think they're taking Mayfield. The idea being, the Browns are okay with taking Allen and would invite moving back to 3 so they can add picks.

Why would Schefter tweet something about other HC / GMs opinions as a misdirection for the Browns ?
