  1. The following is cooler. Rick has sometimes talked about listening to Danny Gallivan, the legendary voice of the Canadiens, when he was growing up. Wow, you can really hear Rick in Danny's calls below, in his last broadcast. "Clears it, not out!" "A scramble in front!" "That hit a leg." "It's all over!" The pacing, the style, the language. It's Rick.

Rick is my favourite for obvious reasons, But Gallivan is the best hockey broadcaster ever.

The pure theatre of his voice.

  2. Out are Regier, Galley, Nolan, Dawe, Holzinger, Ward, Satan and Gorges.

    Promoted are Girgensons and Murray.

I bet Nolan would have lasted longer if we had done this in the summer.

I wonder how long it is going to take before we look at Darcy with any degree of affection.

Im betting it's a long time.

I'm voting for more than three this time as there are a few players I feel strongly that should survive, so I am weeding out the rest by voting them off.

How has Gorges survived this long? (I've voted for him every time )

Good guy, but yeah. He's played all of 15 games. I guess dissing the Leafs carries a lot of weight here.

  3. This time we kicked the veteran steady defencemen to the curb: Numminen, Patrick and Tallinder.

Also sent packing were a couple popular role players (Varada, Biron) and two owners (Pegula and Golisano).

Myers and Ennis get promoted to the finals as the sole survivors from Group II

In is the early days of Darcy Regier.

  4.

Sounds about right to me. Can't argue that.

Canes and Sabres? Sounds exactly right.

There are dozens of McBain's in the NHL - guys who can fill a role under the right circumstances and get exposed when they aren't protected. sabres have four of them on the blueline right now and 10 or 12 up front.
