  1. Complete sentence.

    Use.

    Get hip old timer.

P.S. Was pretty impressed with Guhle. Of course he had a couple of letdowns but he's 19 so expect it. Tell you one thing though that I loved, on the play he got cut, once he regained his composure he went and hit the first red shirt he saw and punished him lol.

  2. A look at Fedun's fancy stats in his games to date with the Sabres is interesting.

The team's PDO while he is on the ice is 102.9. The team's overall PDO is 99.5. In other words (I think), he's been fairly fortunate when he's out there -- his teammates have higher than normal SH% and his goalies have a higher SV% than they normally do. Of course, some of that may be due to his influence on the game, but some (most?) is probably just puck luck and situational usage.

As to the latter, I see that he's had a ~75% O-Zone start rate in 6 Sabre games he's played.

Pysyk, OTOH, is getting O-Zone starts this season only ~41% of the time. Much tougher sledding.

All I know is what I see. I don't see moneyball with this guy but I certainly see him helping us. Let it continue.

I like the kid, he's played well enough to be a 5-7 with the Sabres IMO

    Absolutely!

Good info. Thanks. I'm curious as to whether it will be Fedun or Falk that sits. If Fedun keeps contributing on the PP, I think he'll stay in.

I think Fedun has earned the permanent 6-7 +

Franson hasn't been doing that badly either, but I don't expect much from him also.    Don't know if I'd want fedun over franson when bogo and kuli get back, but that we are all doubting says enough I guess.

While I am fighting for Fedun, No way does he beat out Franson on a full time basis.

Now we need a fan to create the "Legion of Fedun"

    Oh I like this!

  3. Hello. I'm a GMTM worshipper and I wish this was not happening.

I want Guhle to season and all and I believe he needs Roch time this year and maybe even next.

I know Josh has many haters but he is the old man rock on the team. Losing him means that honor is bestowed to Cody who had a great game against the rags imo. He is equally able to play a really bad game next. Bogo haters also hate Cody I'm guessing but we need a vet. Not throwing a kid into the fire although that is the way the league has gone but I don't want this one potentially special D in the pipeline rushed and forced to be our lean on.

This kid is my ace in the hole. Paul Coffey suddenly showing up and running the show type. My hope is his presence makes Risto a number 2.

    Don't rush this.

  4. I saw Perreault play as well. It was a different game back then. Someone posted a youtube link quite a while back with the Sabres playing one of the Soviet teams. I want to say it was the Red Army, but I don't think that's right. In any case, what surprised me about that game in retrospect - which we won 12-6 - is how slow the defensemen were: especially ours. Gil was pretty fast, but what made him special was how shifty he was.

In his prime once or twice a game he would take the puck behind our net. Stand still and watch the opposition. He would then wheel through the entire opposition, stick handling, and changing direction like a mad man. Ted Darling would call it: "Here comes Perreault, winding up at center." Old school defensemen were too slow and plodding to check him by the time he hit the opposite blue line. By the top of the circle he was usually in all alone. He would move the puck from left to right and back again. Old school goalies were of the stand up variety. It was easy, it was magic.

The one difference between Perreault and Eichel is that Eichel is much more of a shooter than Perreault was. It seems funny to complain about a guy with over 500 goals to say he should have shot more, but it is true. I remember games where Perreault would give up a good scoring chance to make a pass for a better scoring chance. Sometimes it didn't work out. Maddening. Eichel seems to be a much more of a shoot first guy. And he seems to be a more accurate shooter.

Please post more. Us 50 and over need all the help we can get in here!

Of course comparing the two is not fair and the comparison can never really be made.

It was a different game then vs now. But there is a common between them that they can mesmerize a crowd. I love Jack more than anything and I think Gil comparison while early, is appropriate. He is unique amongst his peers as even though there are others that are great, Jack has a unique style.

    I love it!

I saw Perreault play. It's hard to compare because the game is so different. Back then there was more interference and the red line required more short passes between zones. I think there was a bigger difference between Perreault and other players with their relative speed. He would pick up the puck in the Sabres zone and go end to end past the other team. He was at his best when going full speed. I think Eichel has a better shot and can create more offense while standing still given his puckhandling skills. And as with most modern players, Eichel is in better shape compared to players like Perreault who would smoke between periods. But Perreault would create the same type of excitement whenever he started a rush down the ice.

You are correct sir! There is a different excitement we're talking about with Jack, or Gil , say vs a guy named Maxim Afinogenov. Max was able to bring you out of your seat but his total game sucked. Ask Lindy lol.  You won't ever say that about Jack or Gil.

  5. MSG-WNY is not offered on directv. At least not in the Nashville region.

Nor the Buffalo region for some undoubtedly stupid reason. Al Permajerk from the Buffalo wrong News suggested that people in Buffalo complain to DirecTV about this. There has to be a reason DTV isn't carrying MSGWNY and that reason is without a doubt money.

I'm guessing the endless, squeeze the carrier squeeze the consumer battle that is now a permanent fixture of our lives is the cause.

Dish decided they won't play ball and don't carry MSG at all. I have to tip my hat to them for not caving though.

The buck has to stop somewhere. I'm sure Dish pays for it here as I have to believe their subscriber base is a joke compared to DTV, Time Warner and Fios as a result. But the bean counters have made a stand. I can support that although to be fair I have DTV and would switch to whatever provider gives me access to Sabres games. Except Fios of course. The bastards stopped the build out just down the street and I don't think we'll ever get it now.

Screw them all. There is a new day coming even if we don't know just how yet. I know a lot of people here that if Sabres were available on line somehow they're ditching cable, DTV, Fios altogether.

  6. I like the idea. Wonder if it ever gets off the ground though. Typical of all of our Government at any level here in NYS. So we have this remediated site and turned down a couple non friendly proposals. This one looks good and we figure it will take a couple years to have an answer?? Disconnect. Typical of our area.

  7. Just imagine Jack at his first period level for an entire game...

    giphy.gif

LOL wtf is that? I gots to try that at Teds some time.

I'm beginning to waiver on my opinion that O'Reilly should be the next captain. Between the emotional impact when Jack got hurt and the clear emotional lift with his return, it just may be his team already.

There is a prolly an even split on this thought. It's one game but the Jack lift was strong. Entire team strong. Speaking is also more natural for Jack. Whether it be in the dressing room with jokes, or on the ice with refs it seems Jack is way more at ease with being vocal. Imo that counts for something. Hopefully this is a discussion in the off season starting in July.

  8. Carrier seems like precisely the sort of player who could slot in with a designated pairing like ROR and Okposo.

This is an exciting and unexpected turn of events. I predict success. Big League!

Not at even strength, he wasn't. Carrier's style should at least tilt the ice and give ROR/KO space. Moulson was a drag.

    This is so true.

Hello Chris Neil. My name is William Carrier. Bam.

Hello Chris Neil. I;m Evander Kane and I feel great. Bam.

Hello Chris Neil. You might remember my father. His name is Mike Foligno. Bam.

  9. 21 games played so far....12 of them (over 57%) they have scored 0 or 1 goals.  I think percentage would be some kid of record.

For the ENTIRE SEASON so far...there is almost a 60% chance that a game we watch will see 0 or 1 goals by the Sabres.

If that's not an emergency I don't know what is!

  10. He said that. Hence the O'Reilly and Kane trades. Most would argue as to the success of those trades but I commend him none the less.

He traded for Kulikov and signed Okposo. Without injury, that should have been enough to get to the next level with the development of the youngish.

Unfortunately, Eichel, Kane, O'Reilly, Ennis, Kulikov, Bogosian have been injured for much of the season. That's 2/3 of your top six and 1/3 of your defensive core not participating. I'll give them a little leeway.

Ink I have to say I admire your message and it's simple but brutal truth. I don't know why so many are overlooking these mind blowing issues. I'm saying DD gets a pass but there is a reason why we look like we do and it's not just him.

So it's either Bylsma or injuries.

    It's both,

But man we are boring as hell to watch

It is both and I agree it's mostly been boring as hell. But I'm going, watching and waiting for the turn to occur.

Didn't Tippett sign an extension? I doubt that new gm fires him, he seems like a smart kid

I want Todd Richards, currently assistant coach for TB. Not sure if we could pry him away. Is bringing Ruff back at all a possibility?

I was all in on Luke Richardson at the time. What's he doing now? Not wearing shoes or slipper around the house of course but what else?
