I'd just put drowsiness inducing medicine in all the water and Gatorade in the locker room, simple yet effective in creating a sluggish team.

Stewart + 2nd for BOS 2015 1st
Mitchell for a 3rd or 4th (varies by need at deadline)
Neuvirth for anything from a 2 to a 4 (Most likely a 3rd rounder)
Meszaros/Benoit fo what ever.
Pick up some waivers guys.
Start Hackett and Lindback

It was right in front of us the whole time:
“Sometimes,” said Zemgus Girgensons, “you have to pass on the good things to achieve the greater things.”
Who knows, he might be in on it since he's slated to be the future captain. Think about it...
-
Don't think that bodes well for the return on Stewart.
It tells me about a 2nd rounder, nothing else.
Stewart + a 2nd may get us a 1st though
-
Stewart + Neuvirth + 1st for Subban + 2nd
Not worth it for us
I'll do Stewart + NYI 2nd for 1st + a 4th or something small
-
Stewart + Compher + 2nd for Subban + 1st ?
I might be tempted as long as its NYI's 2nd and their 2015 1st

Not trading Girgs for RoR
-
Ennis, Larsson and Buf 2nd 2015 and 2016.
I'd jump at a chance for an Ennis-ROR based trade
Not bad we may have to make it the other 1st this year rather than our 2nd but I think we could get it done.

As long as Zadorov and Risto pan out, Myers was expendable. Bogo gives us that long term, lock down D-man and high quality guy who's more D-first in his mentality.
Playoffs come around and both teams win in the trade, as long as Zads and Risto are great, since Myers gives WPG a big man with great skating while already having plenty of hitting D-men. Buffalo gets a moderately effect offensive zone D-man who plays a gritty shut down D-man role which we didn't have yet. Plus he gives Zadorov a mentor, seeing as they play a very similar style of game. Plus Myers and Bogo switching locales give them a fresh start.
-
I wanted to keep Myers but... not anymore. He ate up ice time but he wasn't near as effective as Bogo. I think Bogo's quick outlets are already leading to more scoring chances. A few improvements here and there and this might be a team we can enjoy watching next season.
Myers wasn't really meant for 26 minutes a night, he's not that type of player really. You want him playing about 18 to 22 so he's fresh enough to jump into the play.
Bogo is a more classic style D-man thus his style lends to time eating. Plus he seems to be a great calming influence, Benoit has looked a world better with Bogo as his partner.
Refs were awful, Flyers were jerks, and the arena let freaking birds in!

I love how I'm now the evil tradesman, I guess I'd rather that my tile than something worse.

I think, barring major injuries
Eichel - About 20g 40a
McDavid - About 20g 45a
I'm seeing about 65 to 75 goals from the first line of Moulson-McEichel-Kane
About 45 to 55 from a hypothetical Ennis-Reinhart-Williams line
About 35 to 45 from Foligno-Girgs-Gionta
And 20 or so from the combination of Delauries, Kaleta, McCormick, Larsson, Flynn, etc
Thats about 165 to 195 goals from our forwards.
Defensively
Gorges - 1 goal
Weber - 1 goal
Pysyk - 2 goals
Bogosian - around 4 to 6
Zadorov + Risto = almost 20 I'd guess
So about 20 to 30 goals by the D
185 to 225 total
+5 goals by AHL subs
190 to 230 in goals for.
Which last year would place us where the NYI were in Goals
Not great, but far better than what we have presently.

Then yes, something screwed up dolphin
-
look into it, that is most likely the culprit

What happened last week, software update?

Unfortunately, even if Steve's passing is concussion-linked, I don't think the NHL will do anything.
The NHL i so screwy in regards to protecting players
-
I hope this doesn't cause the NHL to do a kneejerk reaction and try to ban anything resembling toughness. You know like banning fights, or some sort of crazy modification to the hitting game.
-
So, so sad, I certainly hope he didn't take his own life because I would have hoped he'd gone to a former team and asked for a job or something. Far too young to go. RIP Steve
-
Moulson-McEichel-Kane
Ennis-Reinhart-UFA (Jagr/Williams come to mind as savvy vets)(Or Girgs with Grigs as the 3rd line Center)
Foligno-Girgensons-Gionta
Delauries-McCormick-Kaleta
Extras: Larsson-Flynn
Risto-Bogosian
Zadorov-Gorges
UFA-Pysyk (Ehrhoff/Methot/Green maybe?) (I want either a savvy strong vet, a PP QB, or a combination of those 2) (After all, McEichel and/or Reinhart may QB the PP)
7th D Weber
Niemi (probably the best goalie available)
Enroth/Neuvirth varying on if they find starting jobs. If neither wish to play 18-30 games as a backup we grab another goalie or promote an AHLer
-
What common ground? LaFontaine hired him and Murray kept him when he realized how bad we would be for a couple of years. I see no attachment and no front office job for Nolan after this season.
Common ground in regards to player selection, both like big gritty players who play hard. Granted most GMs and Coaches like that
-
If I have to guess, I think Nolan will be promoted to some role in player management and a cushy office where he heads the Player Moral Division of the Sabres.
To me Nolan and Murray have enough common ground that I'd think Murray would want to keep him around for both the players, and another person to get opinions from.
Mainly however, I think they will give him a new job to eliminate the problems that might arise if Nolan were fired/ bought out. Think of what they did with Kevyn Adams. Since I doubt Nolan gets a job elsewhere, he could work with the Sabres part time and when he needs to go work on Latvian stuff, he can. Plus in this case we have the chance to hold onto any of the assistants we want and the players stay happy

I grade this trade as of now as a C, way to many assets lost for too little.
-
I'm just sad, I understand we had to give up stuff, but we certainly gave way to much
-
They just gave way to much for too much risk...
