  1. Two things I noticed last nigth that i think he was very lucky with cause these things tend to lead to bad things for goalies was that he came out of his net ALOT to play pucks, and he gave up a ton of rebunds that he just let the puck bounce off of him. They mentioned a few times how he did not look good handling the puck on the simple shots. He is capable of being an NHL goalie, but I can't see him as a #1 in the league. Just look at a guy like Biron, he looked good too, but just couldn't become a #1 goalie, but makes a very good backup. The NHL is filled with guys that have had flashes in the past, went on some good runs, and amount to nothing more then a backup or a one season wonder
  2. They have championships from years ago, who caresThe point is, that the Sabres weren't the only ones to possibly screw this up because they weren't clear about the same rule. There appears to have been confusion between alot of people about this (including GMs), cause up until trusted hockey experts at Yahoo sports read something in the hockey news, no one was aware and though that the rule was appearing in 23 games, not just being on the roster. Probably more then 1/2 a seasons worth of career NHL stats before giving him the #1 spot on a teamAlso maybe seeing him show more then one impressive run at the start of a previous season would be nice
  3. That seems to be news to one other team also, the Devils because they did the same thing with MatteauWasn't it Darcy who said in his press conference that they sent him back before playing in his 23rd game kept them from burning a year of UFA status? Now I know Darcy is a moron, but it would appear that he isn't the only GM in the league thats confused by the change here, unless Yahoo sports and The Hockey News don't know the full details of the rule like the NHL GMs that are supposed to know these details.......
  4. And what a better way to show you have vision and are capable of managing players then by winning games?Wins aren't the only thing, but there probably the most important thing to show you can do the job. Coaches don't normally keep their job when a team isn't winning, even if they thave the capability to manage players and have "vision" cause those things mean nothing if the team doesn't win games, or at the very least look capable of winning games
  5. ExactlyHe is coaching for a permanent NHL job, and he has to show thta he is a good enough coach to make the Sabres a winning team, not that he can showcase guys for the next coach and lose for the #1 pick. Its not if the moves he is making don't improve this team and show that he belongs in the NHL as a Head Coach Unless the front office has asked him to showcase guys for next season over winning games (which I would assume he would only be willing to do with a guarantee that he has the job), I doubt a guy whos auditioning for an NHL coaching gig is going to be looking to next season, assuming he has the full time job before being given it I couldn't believe how many times they either missed the net, hit a post, or shot it over, they couldn't hit a soccer goal with alot of their shots.Canadians last night, Rangers a few days ago, seems like some teams have been having some of their worst games against the Sabres recently
  6. He played a good game, but I didn't see him have to make many more big saves then every other goalie in the league in a regular game to bail the team out (the glove save at the end was a nice one). If the Montreal players could actually hit the net last night, that game would have been MUCH different. The one thing that this game should have shown everyone is that the goaltending is not an issue here, and no one is going to look good behind this defence Team
  7. Except they didn't do thatIf he stayed up and played anymore they would have burned a year towards him becoming an UFA, The only thing they did was give him a taste of the NHL and started paying him his NHL level contract Of course if you go back to 1994, the Oil drafted 4th & 6th, and since 1995, they have also drafted 6th overall in 1995, 1996, & 2007 (a year they had 3 1st rounders 6th, 15th & 21st IIRC)
  8. They already want to move one of their goalies because they believe both are starters in the league and they are paying too much to keep one as a backup, Why would they then want Miller? if you say as a backup, why wouldn't they just keep one of the ones they already have which many here would say are better goalies? Also, do you really think they are going to offer much for Miller if they only want him as a backup?
  9. Why would the Ducks acquire Miller, who many here are willing to trash because he is average at best? They already have Hiller, who lost his job to the newest greatest thing in Fasth?
  10. Of course they are, they know they are going to get some of the best quotes and headline stuff if they talk to him. They also know what people are saying about certain players and know what will get the fans, their readers, going.
  11. Wait a minute, are you saying people are blowing something out of propotion because of their complete hatred for someone who can't do what hasek did? That they (and the media) are taking a comment made about a dumb question out of context? I can't wait to see this team without Miller, especially when Darcy gives him away, and fans can see this team hit "sub-Rock Bottom". There were fans saying Briere wasn't worth re-signing, that Campbell wasn't worth it either and had to be moved, now theres people wanting those guys back and have changed their mind seeing them play elsewhere........
  12. Not really, but no ones whining that he needs to be seen on the 1st line with Vanek so he can look decent. He may have one point, but thats in less games playing with a fellow callup (Flynn) and a guy who was a callup last year in his first full year (Foligno)
  13. He has value and there will be plenty of GMs/teams that will be all over a deal to get someone with his size and age thinking they can be the ones to turn him around.Problem is that I doubt teams are going to wow the Sabres and offer much aside from draft picks and maybe some prospects (or a possible underachieving prospect of their own) for him
  14. Your right, cause grigs is just tearing up the league right now here with the Sabres...................better yet, show the rest of the league your such a well run hockey franchise and promote him to the top line and demote someone who has actually produced at the NHL level because he needs star players to help carry him............
  15. What about Sulzer going to LTIR? Was the guy they brought up to take his spot an emergency callup where they don't have to go through waivers? So am I, but thats what everyone thinks needs to be done every time a team isn't good, everything has to be blown up to start over from scratch again..........
  16. how many more games is he out for? I thought the Rangers game was his last?Seems like only yesterday...................
  17. TSN is saying its the other guy in the Ott Deal the Canucks are looking at, Roy Roys contract is up soon and they aren't close to having a deal in place to have him re-signed (sounds like Roy thinks he is worth more then the $4mil hes getting, the Stars think hes worth less than that also says that the Flames and Kings could be trading partners at the deadline because of their front offices ties to each other. They mention Iginla to the Kings for Bernier
  18. last night was 4 in a row I believe, blew a 1-0 lead in the thirdNice empty netter was scored by Pittsburgh right at the end, the puck was shot from about 8' in front of Fleurys crease and into the empty net
  19. Why isn't Ott available? If this team is looking to rebuild, why keep around an aging vet who might actually bring back something decent in return? If "the Big 3" aren't untouchable, no one should be off limits in a rebuild
  20. Enough with how much of an "amazing fleecing" of a deal this was. Gaustad is never going to be a huge goal scorer but he brings other things to the game and the one big thing he brings has been one of the biggest problems this team has faced since he left here. The guy wins faceoffs, IIRC he is around 3rd in the league with 60.7% (351) right now for players taking more then 200 faceoffs. The closest Sabres right now is Ott @7th with 58.7% (252 faceoffs) then Hodgson @68th with 46.8% (513 faceoffs)The player in 69th behind Hodgson, former Sabres Derek Roy So Regier managed to get a late 1st round pick for one of the better faceoff guys in the league, doesn't sound like such a fleecing when you get to see how bad Buffalos been winning faceoffs
  21. Shhhh, let him have his tantrum over how the Bills will always suck..........
  22. worst part about it is that its happening to guys that they would have been looking to sell off at the deadline to get stuff for. They might end up healthy scratching who ever is remaining on the roster with any trade value just ot make sure they stay healthy for a trade
  23. This trade on its own, I agreePersonally i don't see it as a move all on its own though, If it is done this way, Millers on the move in a seperate deal whoch would make Bernier the new #1 in Buffalo, and they would be looking to make up for the lost talent between Vanek and Brown in that deal. Bernier has the potential to be a #1 and that won't happen in LA with Quick. The Sabres get a replacement for Miller (they will be giving up an edge in net losing Miller, but hopefully getting keys back in other spots to improve the rest of the team It shouldn't matter if the hit was to one of the Sabres little guys, to one of the bigger names, or to one of the bottom guys, all that should matter is that the hit was on someone wearing the same jersey as them. If you wear that jersey, your one of us and we protect each other out there
  24. Are you saying this is good or bad for the Sabres, cause I can understand it either way.................. I think the good outways the bad though Bad - Alot of penalty minutes, Myers probably gets beaten up and will look even weaker then he is (better to have people think your tough) Good - sticks up for another player showing solidarity amongst teammates, shows they won't sit back and let guys push them around, and Myers is off the ice for a good chunk of the game where he can't help the canes score on his net...........
