  1. Baptiste did not make Canada's training camp roster for the WJC, unfortunately.
  2. Just wanted to thank dudacek and deluca for them working so well with me on trades this past week. Good luck to both of you the rest of the way.
  3. JT Compher scored a goal and an assist tonight in Michigan's 4-3 win over Ohio State in the debut game of the Big 10 Hockey conference. Compher now has 3g, 9a in 12 games for the 3rd ranked Wolverines.
  4. His second trade request to the Capitals, after demanding one in Nashville just several months ago. Next stop: KHL
  5. Nicknamed the "German Gretzky" for a reason... lol
  6. You're probably right but a good WJC for him could put him over the top. The thing is, this is Reinhart's third full season in the WHL, while Leon's only second. And Leon is keeping up pace with points. Also, should be noted, Reinhart's WHL playoff career so far: 9gp, 1g, 2a, -10. Leon: 4gp, 0g, 4a, -4. Draisaitl is a more raw player, so if he does rise up the ranks, it won't be til later in the year when scouts have more of a idea about what his game is all about. I am no hockey scout, but i think he is the best player in the draft.
  7. Pysyk a plus/minus -3 tonight. And -9 in his last 8 games.
  8. Boston Globe's Fluto Shinzawa on Sabres/Nolan- http://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2013/11/17/nhl-youth-movement-can-more-harm-than-good/AVYczWDIDfKhHc7QTo9s5I/story.html?s_campaign=sm_tw
  9. Don't forget Leon. In fact, Leon could still go #1.
  10. Absolutely. We have some good young players in our system but the kind of player we really seem to be missing, and even down our pipeline is a Brent Seabrook type. Punishing d-men, not in it for the stats, not flashy, just a guy who does everything well and can cover any NHLer.
  11. Saying he's the best defensive defensman on this team isn't saying much, but i would say i would agree with that up until his recent struggles. Ever since the Ducks came to Buffalo, in which he was paired with Zadorov i believe, he never recovered and i don't think he has been very good since. In the last two, he has looked much better but i know before the bombshell they were even discussing it on WGR that maybe its time to sit him?
  12. Rochester lost last night 7-3, however, one stat of note- Joel Armia scored his first NA goal last night.
  13. For sure. I don't think there is any other forward with as much potential as he does. Don't get me wrong, i do believe there is some real solid offensive forwards in this draft, and some who will rise the ranks in the coming months, but Reinhart has the offense, the passion to be great, and is a excellent leader. Fights for pucks. He is the total package.
  14. I am not so sure. He is exactly the kind of player Nolan likes to have. Big body skilled forward. If Nolan can't turn Stafford into a reliable hockey player, then idk if anyone will. He did play well last night. I expect Nolan to invest a lot of time into Stafford. Will be interesting to see where he's at a few weeks from now, as you wondered yourself.
  15. You're a lot more creative then I am. Signing Callahan could be a hiccup into their plans of Conner McDavid. That's the real prize right there.
  16. Oh f#&@ it just hit me i gotta change my user name again. Second time had to make the move. smh
  17. Gonna miss Vanek and just like this whole rebuilding process, the Sabres are really putting lots of stock into this rebuild. They are going to find it's going to be very hard to find the kind of players such as Pominville and Vanek, even with high picks. And when Reinhart comes in here, he'll have nobody to play with, will be interesting to see how his development goes. That said, if you believe in this rebuild, this is the right move. Moulson is a hard working player who has expierence on being on rebuilding teams. He will also hit and fight in the corners, something, most of our players will not do. If they were willing to subject skill with a hard worker to show the kids around, i am all for it, but, why is a lazy loser such as Drew Stafford still here? Hopefully we don't pick too many more Grigorenko's with the future picks.
  18. Crazy, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJHI-8C8mzk&feature=youtu.be
  19. Why would he do that for? And why would he sell to a non-local market? Including Pegula, 3 of the top 10 richest NHL owners have ties to Buffalo. I don't think they would leave so easily.
  20. Check out this goal for Montreal, scored by Dan Hamhuis...
  21. Exactly. Scoring is a problem, and they have several kids in the system and 4 picks in the top 60 next year to add more to the forward pool, but the Sabres inability to be tough to play against was just as big of a concern as it is scoring. Teams had no problems playing against us. Required minimal work. Adding some big, tough kids on defense, getting rid of some softer players (Sekera) was all the right moves. If the players turn out what we expect them to be is another thing but the mindset was right on. In today's NHL, you need to be tough to play against and solid puck movers so once you do create the turnover, you start your attack. Puck possession is such a great state and translates really well to winning teams, which is common sense if you think about it. The less time in your own zone, the less chances teams get, thus, the more time you spend peppering the opponents goalie on the other side.
  22. 7 regulation wins out of 35 is pretty bad. What if he has 14 in 70? Same tune?
  23. I once heard somewhere Pegula and Nolan were close, and that Pegula asked Nolan to join the Sabres in some capacity (not coach/gm) when Ruff was here but Nolan rejected because of his commitments and loyalty to Latvian hockey.
  24. Agreed. I think Regier is safe. If the Sabres are bottom 3 late next season then i think serious discussions will begin of getting a new guy in here to try to work with the young talent + potential of Conner McDavid, but until then, he's as safe as it gets. On a side note, i don't think Ron Rolston is as safe. He has coached the Buffalo Sabres for 35 games now, and only has 7 regulation victories. That's pretty awful. At some point their going to need to demand a few wins. My silly theory is, Rolston has tons of troubles getting any victories whats-so-ever, and by late March or so, the team decides that they are just not improving and they let him go and bring in Ted Nolan, who, is busy until February coaching the Latvian national team with Girgensons.
