  1. I think the transmission on my truck is shitting the bed. :(

Try changing the fluid. I thought my tranny was toast (and thus a new car was needed), but the mechanic told me that new fluid had a 50/50 shot of fixing it. I gave it a shot and for the last 2 months it's worked better than in the last couple of years.

  2. I miss Milt Ellis. There was a cool understatement there.

Dr. D4rksabre, please call your answering service.

    very nice.

You're right. That complaint didn't make any sense at all. Every PA announcer is a homer. It's their job.

Ok, my two cents. Yes, this is a complaint thread. However, I do have something to rejoice about. I have two job offers. Now I have to decide before the end of the week who I want to work for. Yes, it would involve me going back into trucking; but if someone is willing to give me a shot to where I can clear my name over bogus allegations, then that's what I'm willing to do. Then again, everything could fall through and I still wind up with nothing by next Monday.

This whole experience of being unemployed really can be humbling. I can't help but wonder what has happened to henysgol as of late (and I know that he said he was really struggling a few weeks ago). I hope he's doing all right.

congrats on the job. Separately, I've been wondering about hensygol myself. If anyone knows how to reach him -- please do.

  3. First off, thanks to everyone for their concerns. As much as we may agree or disagree on some things, it is reassuring that this forum has become something of a close-knit community.

Here's what really sucks: I have to look for a new job. I no longer have a job with them. However, the silver lining is that I have been home for all this time and at least I have a bachelor's degree in a totally unrelated field. So, here's to finding a job where I can at least be home every night and off the road.

Sorry to hear it, XC. Let me echo 11's urge to exercise. There are plenty of good sabres & hockey podcasts to listen to on the ipod while you are exercising.

Been waiting all week for this. I spent 3 hours in the ER Wednesday night after someone thought it was a good idea to smash a beer bottle on my head. I get the stitches out today, but unfortunately I'm not going to attend my work x-mas party this weekend as I don't want to explain to the CEO/Owner that I'm a retard that gets in bar brawls and ends up in the hospital. Then again, he probably already knows this...

Don't let that stop you from going to the xmas party!

Wear a hat, come up with a herioc story but don't insult the owner by not attending his employee's party.

Ink -- I think Dudly is right on this one.

Here's my complaint: My 9-year-old plays on a travel soccer team in a pretty competitive league. Last weekend his team played the team that is the best team in the league every season. They beat my kid's team last fall and last spring and were undefeated going into this game. So, my kid's team wins in a 3-2 thriller. My complaint is about the other team's coach. He was a complete jerk the entire time. He was yelling at his team and at the ref and refused to shake hands with our coach after the game.

The real kicker, though, is that on quite a few occasions, he would stand a couple of steps on the field of play while our team had the ball on that sideline -- i.e. he was interfering with our team's attempts to bring the ball in or out of the zone. He was intentionally affecting the play -- literally cheating in a soccer game played by a bunch of kids. Are you kidding me? What a bozo.

  4. My hot-water heater died a not-so-peaceful death yesterday, resulting in standing water in my basement and a fat plumber bill for a new one. The plumber then left a valve partially open, resulting in more standing water, which I had to clean up again after figuring out and correcting his mistake.

At least I'm the proud owner of a shiny new hot-water heater though.

  5. 1. As I posted in another thread -- still no HD for Sabres games on MSG if you're not in WNY.

    2. I bought a Dell laptop in February 2008 and paid $250 or so for the extended 3-year, in-person warranty. It was a lemon. It died every few weeks -- just shut down. Each time, I'd have to go through the phone menu, talk to tech support in India for about an hour, they'd finally send the tech dude out to fix it, he'd show up with the wrong part, they'd send the right part (usually a replacement motherboard), he'd replace it, it would work for a few weeks, then die again. At one point I had to send it in to Dell for them to work on it in their shop. Same result. Finally, after about 5 or 6 repetitions of this BS, they sent me a replacement. This was about a month ago.

The GD new laptop is completely schizophrenic and freezes up every 60 seconds. It's unusable. Here we go again on the tech support merry-go-round.

    I hate Dell.

  6. I hate C's. They should be removed from the english language all together. Sure, that would give my mom the incredibly awkward name of "hristine", but I'm fine with that.

Also, please not that the letter in question never appeared in a single word in this post.

    ...except for "incredibly".

  7. I paid my credit card bill 4 days late last month and got charged over 27% interest -- and for 34 days, not 4. Outrageous.

Also, I looked at the Bills' schedule this afternoon, picked each remaining game and ended up with a record of...you guessed it...7-9.

  8. Bingo. Not to mention kidnapping family pets and throwing them in the ring with trained killing machines as training fodder and laughing as their own fighting dogs maimed and killed the untrained pets.

Wow. Did they really do that? First I've heard of that particular wrinkle. Disgusting if true.

  9. This might be a bit too serious for this thread, but I'm still in shock about the woman who went crazy around here last week and acted out her death wish with 5 kids in her van, killing 4 of them, herself and 3 other people. She was literally pounding vodka (the equivalent of 10 shots in 1 hour for a 130-pound woman) AND smoking weed behind the wheel. It sounds like she literally freaked out and decided to kill herself by driving the wrong way on a highway on a Sunday afternoon. Sure enough, a grisly head-on collision occurred within a few minutes. Suicide is bad enough, but how could she just decide it was OK to take a bunch of others with her? She killed her own young daughter and her brother's THREE young daughters, not to mention 3 random people in the other car. As one of the victim's relatives put it: rot in hell.

  10. This would be the first time for me. I've never really had a dog until the wife & I got this one, so that makes this decision that much harder. The vet always gives us the "quality of life" speech, which I can never argue with. Only recently, I've started thinking that she might be giving up, if she hasn't already. She doesn't do much around the house anymore, except for sleep on the couch. I know she's not comfortable, but it still doesn't make me want to make this decision.

It won't make it any easier, but here is a really good article about a similar situation.

    Good luck.

  11. I've been fortunate enough to have missed 99% of the MJ coverage these last couple days. I came in the other night and every station I flipped to was signing off on their MJ special. I went into a 7-11 and counted 18 different periodicals with all different MJ faces on the cover.

The man was an entertainer I get that. But there are enough taboo subjects floating around him that we shouldn't be lionizing what turns out to be a junkie..

This coverage has been over the freakin top. Make it stop.

There's also a substantial likelihood (although not proven or admitted, and I do believe in innocent until proven guilty) that he was a child molester, which really makes all the glorification pretty bizarre.

  12. The hockey offseason is the only sport I care about for another 60 days or so, and until the Sabres make another move, all I'm left with is arguing with DeLuca and PAFan about whether Darcy sucks. And the possibility exists that they won't make another move, in which case it's all darkness.

  13. My wife is 6 mths prego and she is nonstop bitching about everything. I fear I may not make it through this summer alive.

Congrats. However, if it's your first, you're going to be a frequent contributor to this thread over the next year or so. But it's well worth it.

  14. Last night I ate 37 wings at an all-you-can-eat Wednesday night wings special (while watching TB fudge the bucket against PIT), and now I'm really full and miserable. (But I'll be damned if I don't eat the half-dozen I smuggled out as soon as I get home from work tonight! ;) ) And on a very related topic, I'm pretty out of shape this offseason, and I'm using the weather as an excuse. <_<

I'm calling BS on this, unless your real name is Mike Williams and you used to play for the Bills.

Let's overlook the 37 wings part for a moment. How does one go about smuggling 6 saucy wings without a container?

    Excellent question.

  15. This always bothers me. Please, when the Sabres go visit the sick kids in the hospital, leave the cameras behind. Every time. I understand that the players often go without cameras. I really do. It's great. But one trip into the hospital for the shallow purpose of promoting the team to the public (in the coldest analysis, to sell sh*t like tickets and jerseys) is one trip too many. I guess the argument can be made that publicizing the trips increases giving to the hospitals. If that can be proven, I will tolerate the cameras. Otherwise, I find it shameful.

Overuse of hysterical adjectives like "shameful". Crosschecking was a frequent perpetrator of this horrendous crime against humanity.

  16. I really expected (and even predicted) a booming complaint thread today. I think that as a fanbase we've moved past frustration and bitching to depression and apathy.

    correct.

I really hate Boston's Goal Song after each score. Time to get a new song. Its so overplayed in every stadium!!

I feel the same way about "Crazy Train". Every single stadium/arena plays it. Give me a break already.

the simple fact that I have to work and dont get every single day off for the rest of my life to play video games.

Quite a first post. Sorry about your lot in life. Welcome!

  17. I know it's just preseason, but I'd like to see the Sabres win one of these games convincingly. So I guess my complaint is that I don't yet feel reassured, based on what's happenned on the ice, that this season is going to be more like 05-06 than like 07-08.

  18. I know going after a Connolly jersey is a questionable move given injury history, last year of contract, etc. (and my last jersey purchase was a Drury jersey in May 2007 -- nice), but if someone's got one that they're looking to unload for a fair price, I'm interested. Also interested in a kid's-size jersey (pretty much any player/number will do) that will fit my 8-yr-old.

In each case, I don't want a goathead, but would be interested in the old alternate (red) jersey, either the blue or white throwbacks, and possibly even the slug.

If you've got one or both of the above -- PM me or post in this thread.

    thanks!
