  1. Why ?

We need solid vets that can bring along the young guns, and we have to hit the cap floor. Over paying for a high quality player like Moulson who genuinely wants to help Buffalo with our rebuild is money very well spent

Because he's almost 31 years old, on the downside of his career, will be significantly diminished as a player by the time we are good and will want him to be, but he will still be taking up 5 mil of cap space, and he doesn't do anything in particular that I want the young guys to emulate.

Term is longer than I'd've preferred, but he apparently had a lot of suitors. This is only contract that might look bad when the kids are starting to gel. TM should be able to work w/ only 1 (not horribly) bad contract.

I would rather pay him 3 years, 21 mil than 5x5.

  2. This plus Gorges waiving to come here really does say something.

OTOH, Matty will be 31 in November and had 17 goals in 64 games last year, plus a real injury. I can live with the $5MM per year, but the 5-year term does concern me a little.

you beat me to it by seconds. I hate the term. Guy is on the downside of his career now - must be one hell of a locker room guy to want to tie themselves to a depreciating asset this long, especially since he isn't tough at all and plays mostly a perimeter game we don't want our guys to emulate.

  3.

So over it. F him. He didn't want to play for us? Enjoy the media in Vancouver, asswipe.

    @LaurenBrill4

Source tells me Sabres are still working on making a deal with Moulson.

TM still thinks he should have got a first for him at the deadline, so he is going to try it again this year.

Canucks sign Ryan Miller to three-year, $18-million contrahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahact.

Bet Miller wishes he had accepted Buffalo's offer. Declining it will cost him millions. Good luck getting anywhere near 6 per after these 3 years are done. Buffalo would have given him 7x7, maybe 8x6.8. He gave a lot of money away.

  5. I think Derek Roy might end up in Nashville.

And, the Leafs are in on Dom Moore. That guy will play for every team in the league before his career is over. Dude put the "journey" in journeyman.

he has already played for the leafs

I never find it under $60. Even at $60, I'm thrilled. Congrats--and please let me know where you're shopping. (By the glass, I find it's usually about $12 for a one-shot pour, btw. That is almost audaciously pricey for Buffalo.)

I don't consider Maker's or Woodford (or 1789 for that matter, but that has more bite than I like) to be cheap; more mid-range. They're not Beam or Early Times, FFS.

really? 60 a bottle would make me think twice. GCP liquor is the place. Woodford is usually in the same 45 price range. My favorite bartender seems to want to put his employer out of business. He pours about 3 fingers of either for 8 bucks.

Makers isn't cheap. I just don't like it. Plenty of good bargain bottles. A couple have been named. Look for 4 roses small batch. Good stuff in the 30 range. Evan Williams makes a nice single barrel in that range. 4 roses single barrel is around 40 and is damn good as well.

  7. I can usually find blanton's for roughly 45 a bottle. Life is too short to drink cheap beer or booze or cigars. Enjoying a couple fingers of it now with a Perdomo Exhibicion. Makes for a nice evening.

I just picked up a bottle a little while ago, and the first few sips I've had were very good. I, obviously, need to drink more of it. Maybe tonight's a good night for Laphroaig.

I haven't yet. I'll keep it mind. Thankfully I have a lot of things on the shelf I need to work on.

try the Oban 16. You'll like it. Caol isla is good but very light and delicate. No water needed.

I like Woodford a lot. Better than Maker's, even. It's just not in a lot of the places I go to.

Blanton's as a "go-to"?! I wish I had that kind of money. It is amazing, but pretty damned expensive. It's a special occasion pour for me.

Echo on the price of Blanton's, obviously!

    Maker's has not changed.

stay away from the wood ford double oak. No where near as nice as the reserve.
  8.

I'm not sure I would call Makers smooth. I like the flavor but actually find it to be very harsh.

Word. It's gasoline. I won't even use it for Julips. Drown it with ice and ginger ale if you must, but it still gives me heartburn.

  9.

Maker's is my go-to when I order at a bar or whatever. I cannot stand the 46. I think it's horrible. More alcohol /= better whisky.

Woodford reserve and blanton's are my go to bourbons. Can drink them neat all night long, and one or both are usually available in most bars. If not, rethink where you are spending your time.

I'm happy to have another person aboard the "Stafford isn't as bad as he's made out to be" bus. Prepare to be ridiculed!

He looked better last year than he has in years past. I can't tell if it's because he was trying harder, or if the players around him just sucked so bad that it made him look better. Either way, trade his dead ass for the first 5th round pick someone throws our way. He is a perfect example of what you DONT want around your developing players of the future.

  11. I'd honestly forgotten all about him, looked up his stats for these playoffs and was really surprised to see him leading all players in points. But he only has 2 assists in the Finals, even with his great defensive play I don't think that production in the Finals warrants a Con Smyth. I'll take Doughty winning it. I've never seen a d-man play as well as I saw him play in the Chicago series. Completely dominated

    quick or doughty for sure

  12. I like Barbashev as much as some others. If we end up with him and two then that's a very good first round in a mediocre draft. If we could pull off having three firsts to land Sonny Milano, too, I'd be ecstatic. I think he'll turn into a very good offensive winger. I still really like the idea of bringing in Demko.

On Demko, it's worth noting that Murray took three goalies (Hogberg 3rd round 2013, Driedger 3rd round 2012 and Lehner 2nd round 2009) in the first three rounds while in Ottawa. Those guys are 6'4, 6'3 and 6'5 respectively. Demko is listed at 6'3 with potential to grow still.

Look for Alex Tuch to fall, and the sabres either trade up late in first to grab him or take him with their first pick in the second. Prototypical TM pick - big kid, a banger, quality kid through and through. Doesn't have elite offensive talent but he is good enough for a second/third line checking role. He's Foligno with actual offensive talent.

To boot, He's a Syracuse kid.
