This is exactly the point. In a new CBA, teams will likely not be able to dump salary into the minors and thus circumvent the cap. The owners want to make the cap much more rigid than it is today.

While I would love to acquire Doan, I am very worried about the cap implications of this absurd contract post lockout. Their is already speculation that the sabres will be in cap hell without the Doan contract.
