Another of my 60’s childhood memories gone, along with Glen Park in Williamsville, and Crystal Beach.
Visited Crystal Beach several times as a kid. My neighborhood would rent a bus for Crystal Beach Day and we’d get free tickets based on our report card grades.

Started watching with about 7 minutes left. Happy to hear the team (and Sam) played a better game. Perhaps RK read them some posts from this board. They need to string a few of these together before I change my opinion however. It just goes to show if you put in an honest effort, good things happen.
Lets enjoy the win.
Cheers
Maybe Krueger played the Duane rant on a loop in the locker room.

That's true I guess and God knows this team does not play entertaining hockey...but a team definitely feeds off energy in the building and the crowd does have the power to impact the game on the ice.
Whenever they show closeups of people in that building they all look like they are 20 years behind in fashion or style and live in Elma, Sloan, or Marilla.
Half of them are staring at telephones and no one seems like they care much about hockey.
I realize it's therefore tough to get a positive vibe going in the crowd.
For some, it’s more fun to watch the millionth cat video they’ve seen. -

Couple that with the fact that people are mostly (stupid) these day and viola.
And stupid means, social media is always right, it's on insta, an influencer said so, it HAS to be correct.
A bunch of kids and young adults fought for independence 250 years ago, and now we fight to pretend our sexual organs are different.
We are as overpopulated as ever, the earth probably won't be able to handle what we're throwing at it for long. Humans are by nature, destructive. But nature finds a way to fight back.
But...but...I read it on Wikipedia -

Just curious. Where do you stand on watching the Sabres? I’ve seen comments under the Game day thread alluding to being late for a game and catching only the last period. Why not record and watch the game in it’s entirety? As a left coaster for about half my life I rely on recording eastern time zone games and watching after work. I know not everyone has traditional cable, and streaming has limitations but if you do have a DVR option, do you use it?
Yes, I DVR everything. Once in a while it backfires as I look at something on my iPad or iPhone and catch a score by accident of a game I recorded but that’s my fault. I can’t stand commercials. I can also fast forward thru down times in a game, like replay review and showing replays from a dozen different angles.

How about Krueger for Jack Adams, Carter (EF) Hutton for Vezina, Dahlin for Norris and Olofsson for Calder? Side comment: with all the hockey people in history to honor, they had to use Calder for both the NHL Rookie of the Year and AHL Championship?

It all has to come together. Defense, Centers, Goaltending. We haven't seen it even manifest except for that short 10 game win streak. Will be curious to see what next week brings when lines start to show some semblance of solidifying.
Yes, if the additions to the defense have the expected improvements, there could be less shots on goal, and specifically less point blank shots, which would mask the goaltending deficiencies.

So, the league is full then?
Get this, I’ve been in a Yahoo league for 4 years (someone, I don’t remember sent me an invite) and we had our draft this morning. It was at 8 AM PST. I’m not a morning person but got up around 7 to get something to eat, etc and we drafted with no issues. Afterwards, I went to the league page and the Yahoo algorithm that evaluates drafts ( for whatever that’s worth) posted that I had the best draft.
A little while later, I decided to go check out the drafted teams and the league did not show. Having experienced Yahoo screwups over the years, I contacted them and they said the commissioner deleted the league. WTF!
I don’t know the commissioner and with the league deleted I can’t look to see who it may have been that invited me.
Good practice draft for my other leagues, I guess. LOL!

Training camp starts in about a month and despite some chatter, no recent roster changes.
Is the goaltending good enough? I’m not sure. While the GA averages over 3.00 for both Hutton and Ullmark are poor, they can be a result of poor defensive play. Save percentage can be a somewhat better predictor of goaltenders’ play but if the poor defense is leading to breakaways and point blank shots, it may not all fall on the goalies. However, looking at those Save Percentages of .908 for Hutton and .905 for Ullmark, they place them at 34 and 40 respectively in the league for 2018/19.
Did the Sabres add enough scoring in the offseason? I don’t think so. Vesey and Johansson should help but I don’t expect that much of an impact. I think they need one more proven 20 goal scorer to help balance out the production.
So, in my opinion, if the Sabres go into the season with this current roster, I don’t see much improvement in the team’s win-loss record.

It also seems they’re going to let the new goaltending coach see what he can do vs upgrading the talent.

So you're saying the Sabres shouldn't have traded Pu for Skinner?
Anytime you can get anything in trade for Pu is a plus, unless you’re a fertilizer salesman. ?

They are really interested In Turcotte, so I imagine he would be the target in a trade up.
Moving from 7th to 3rd would cost 30/31 and a roster player/prospect, is that too high of a price
With the lack of talent on this Sabres team, i’m on the fence on this one. Do you really want to give up first round picks? Is it worth doing for a can’t miss player? Since drafted players are generally about player development and this organization has a poor track record, i’d Go for the best talent you can get.

I sure would like to know understand what really motivated the trade.
Was it that season ending interview I lost my love for hockey, did he really think he was done and that bad or did some one of the owners help make that decision ?
I guess we will never know but boy it sure looks like we got hornswoggled.
Whether it was a ploy by ROR to get out of Loserville or not, the season ending comments were a bad look by a supposed leader of the team. I think it was the right move to get rid of him, but there should’ve been a better return.

Every time I hear O'Reilly's name I die a little inside
As a Sabres and Sharks fan, I watched the 7 games of SJ/Colorado series seeing Zadarov as a 2nd pair defenseman and JT Compher doing well. Now I ‘m watching O’Reilley and Kane. Kane has sure been quiet after scoring 30 regular season goals.

Yeah, NHL drafting is similar to baseball, mostly projections.
