  1. I was gonna mention this when I saw it.

Wasn't he on the Sabres payroll till this season?

Now that the free money has dried up he is looking for another check huh?

In seriousness I hope whatever he was dealing with is better now and he's able to go on to a healthy life.

  2. @Thorny"Eichel and Reinhart and Ullmark leaving, and the lack of depth we still see today: because we are still in the process of rebuilding"

They had to go. They had to go?

Looking back now at these 3 players and the amount of success they've gone on to have with other teams leaves a little but if a sting.

When you combine the efforts of the current rebuild and the fact that it seems to have stalled out again, it stings even more.

With their record, just about anyone off the street could get ice time with them. I mean they have 23 points on the season putting them on pace for like 44 for the year...that's worse than many expansion teams were their first year.

Granted, they hold the record for the worst full season points total in THEIR expansion season with 24, but they shouldn't be trying to recreate that.

Right. I thought the same but i'm still happy for a guy who's dream is the NHL.

I'd bet if you asked him he'd just be happy to be here.

  4. Whether good bad or otherwise it may still be determined but the last two stars Buffalo traded promptly went on to win the Stanley Cup.

For Jack it was his first full year healthy after the whole neck thing.

We can argue about players coming back and such but the Cup being the ultimate goal I'd say the other teams won.

Well, for starters Jackie, if this group of Eulers played under the same rules as the 80's Eulers played, they would either have not played ANY OT and that record setting game would've ended in a tie or they would've had 5 minutes of 5v5 play with neither team wanting to lose a point and LIKELY would've ended in a tie.

There's other reasons as well, such as them not giving a rat's arse about playing D unless it was post their getting swept by the Aisles in the playoffs and it was also against either a Wales Conference team in the SCF or against the Flames.

    Good rememberin

I will be stunned if we get anything of value for Olofsson. If he was worth anything to other NHL teams he would have been traded months ago.  He is a scoring winger who can't get in the line-up ahead of a sheltered 18 year-old on pace for 9 goals, on a team that struggles to generate offence that has a wretched power-play.  And he makes 4.75 million per year.  That said, if he were to be moved it would not be at all stunning if he scored at a 30 goal or better pace wherever he goes.

PP specialist. Proven goal scorer. Could help a contender. 5-7th round pick.

  7. I'll be interested to watch the reactions here when players are moved or not.

Now that Olofsson is UFA and the team has other players capable of slapping a puck into the net on the PP, I could see him leaving via the deadline this season.

Comrie could go (not likely) simply because teams have injury needs and he is also becoming a UFA so teams can get out at the end of the year.

Robinson (I wouldn't), or EJ (if he wants to go) will be UFAs so could be traded.

In a surprise move I could see Rosen, Joki, Krebs or Ryan Johnson being moved.

It’s not semantics, it’s just raw data.

If you meant real-time points, they are 7 back from a tie with Tampa for WC2. Ticky tack? Sure, but it would feel disingenuous to undersell the gap even by a little when in reality the amount of teams we need to leapfrog is the main issue, and “only 6 points back” has a connotation that completely ignores that so…7 points.

A better analysis anyways would be to take into account games played and look at actual points percentage, so if you meant that, in reality we are chasing NJ and they are 5 up with 3 in hand so in essence, 8 points up.

It’s certainly not semantics. But maybe you deem the difference between 6 points and 7 or 8 irrelevant. Fair game. But I wouldn’t, considering it’s the exact gap we missed the playoffs by last year

    I mean.

At the time of my post they were 6 back from a tie for the second wild card.

Anything that happened since then is therefore semantics or otherwise irrelevant to my original post but go ahead and type away.

I'm a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day, or maybe it's just cloudy in here 🤷‍♂️
