Agree! I am not a denier. However, before I support a national and programmatic effort to reverse something, under a program that will come at great cost, I want to know darn well what it is, how the program will be effective, and who's in. Currently, the poster child of our war on global warming, er, climate change, er, something, is Solyndra. What I'd like? A candidate who devotes energy to mobilizing the science before the cure. John Kennedy: "We choose to go to the moon". Addendum: You mobilize the science and free markets will shower you with solutions. Move to solutions first, and command economies give you bankrupt battery manufacturers.

Climate change vexes me. I'm glad you brought it up. My body feels it (important). I'm old enough to remember the global cooling crises and the coming ice age. Google Time Magazine (an authority in the 1970s) and ice age. My suspicions around global warming as a policy plank are two-fold. First, in my short lifespan, I've had the authorities warn me about cooling, warming, and, ultimately change. What's the settled science du jour? Second, what is effective US Policy, given its constraint in changing the climate, assuming any of the three? What are effective measures when behavior's the issue and what's simply nature? You could legitimately answer "leadership" in response to the U.S. role. Perhaps the Chinese will admire U.S. and stop polluting? I'm a green conservative. Save the rivers, the lakes, the air, the species. Warming, cooling, changing? Show me more. Self Editing: I took my own advice and Googled. There are reports the Time Magazine cover (a part of my memory) is a fake. The article, itself, is generally reported as valid, though. I remember reading and being worried. I also "remember" a cover.

Awesome question. I was born into a South Buffalo Union Democrat family. I registered to vote at 18 and pulled the lever for Jimmy Carter in 1980. By 1984, I was voting Republican. Reagan turned me. He didn't do it alone. By then I was reading National Review and the like. Presidential biographies became a staple. I never left the New Republic, though, and Crossfire and The McLaughlin Group were my favorite television shows. Pat Buchanan, Robert Novak, Michael Kinsley and Eleanor Clift. The New York Times and Wall Street Journal piled on my desk. The Sunday Times, pure joy. My family thought I'd lost my marbles. They occasionally joked. They were occasionally angry. They were always confused.

I hope you all find this as balanced as I did. Fiorina, by Bloomberg. http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/features/2015-04-30/what-brought-carly-fiorina-down-at-hp-is-her-greatest-2016-asset

I like this. Thank you. It touches more than a few chapters in my life.

I'm diggin' all of this ....

I do not know if someone was raped, or not. I do not know if Kane raped someone, or not. I do not know if the victim of the alleged rape was 17, or not. I've considered dozens of scenarios. It's how I understand them. I am confident that my understandings would fall into any "he gets it" bucket any of us have. Considering out loud is a form of speculating. Considering out loud is not damning. Facts damn, or don't. I'm glad you all consider and speculate on any number of topics. It's why I come here. You inform me. You're all informing me on this most delicate and serious of topics. The animus pains me.

One America is a VERY DIFFERENT feel. I have about three hours with it (what a sample size). It's lean and clean. I do like it. Trying One America is like going from whole milk to non-fat milk. The glitz is gone. I will continue the experiment. FOX was a comfy couch.

Awesome. Rick Santorum and Marco Rubio. That's pretty accurate. For those who remember these two were not at the top of my early interest list, recall my bias for governors and other executives. Senators make me wary. "right wing - libertarian"

Imagine holding politicians to results in the same fashion! Social Security, IRS, you're all fired! Add "what difference does it make?" and "it looks like some of the projects weren't shovel ready". For my Democrat friends, add "Mission Accomplished". In all seriousness, I'm going to follow your link. Thank you. I'll be most interested in how HP did in its sector during the time period. I do know her dismissal was contentious. That, by the way, could be a really cool thing. Edit: Great link.

I am early in my education, but Carly Fiorina is capturing my attention. I've followed her generally for several years and have been very favorably impressed. Favorably impressed is a ways off from Presidential. We'll see. I DO know that if I could organize one debate for my viewing pleasure, it would be Carly v Hillary.

Welcome! If you've been lurking for any length of time, you probably know this is a really cool place. You're not the first to have hesitated before posting. I sure did. Read the "making Sabrespace more friendly" thread and its anecdotes. It is a most interesting community that transcends "the web". Sabrespace features hockey knowledge second to none with Chicken Wing sauce applied liberally along with a whole host of other topics. The posters are informed, passionate, and glad you're here. I consider it my web based Thanksgiving day table with all of my loud relatives. You never know .... My unsaid "no" reference didn't consider Norm. He is funny, and I'm googling. Instead, it was a reference to some back and forth I had several days ago around the ********** Lives Matter issue. I didn't hear a "no" where others did. Mutual respect, back and forth .... All of our opinions are humble, even when we're not aware of it. Type away! I agree with your assessment of the political fortune of Bernie on that particular day. Large crowds and generally sympathetic coverage. He looked neither weak nor confrontational when he stepped aside and allowed protestors and the event team to haggle. I am surprised by what is becoming a competitive environment in the Democratic Party. I pencilled Hillary in long ago, and I used ink.

I'm grateful to you all for your work both reportorial and around the important topic, individuals notwithstanding. While there've been dozens of volleys around victim shaming and the benefit of the doubt, I come away with a sense that we all have an enlightened concern for both. Awesome points of view from the ladies who live lives outside of my experience. Of the dozens of paths this story may ultimately take, I see classic Greek tragedy with hubris, the Gods, and fate. Special thanks to Hoss for educating me on the industry and protocol. I see your struggle with balance. Special thanks to Eleven for important legal and procedural context. Anyone besides me think the Buffalo News and Tim Graham have been particularly professional?

Bernie Sanders is a disingenuous politician who deserved to be shouted down. He doesn't get it. His responsibility was to say "I agree" and nothing more on the topic. The organizers offering compromise used sentences with unsaid "no" in front of them and therefore dismissed legitimate views. Their anger takes priority over decorum and mutual respect. Gratuitous snark admitted. Indulgence begged. Now, with fidelity to the thread's topic .. I am very interested that the speaking controversies have both taken place at Democratic primary events. I'd not have seen this coming. Instead, I'd have thought GOP targets would be more frequent. I think the movement crowd would say "it applies to both" and I'd agree. What do I know? I do believe every candidate had better be prepared for "their moment". Because two Democrats were the first target, I'd advise HRC to be ready as soon as today. My mind's eye: Hillary will have all of the right words ready and will reach for the hands of any protester. Her team will initiate the "we're off script for several moments" game plan and commence "Operation Accommodate. No criticism, there. So would my team, recognizing the likelihood of the opportunity. Further to my mind's eye ... The HIllary I see is stilted and uncomfortable. She's just not a folksy "I feel your pain" type. Now, if BILL could handle the moment on her behalf, we'd be talking about a home run out of the ballpark. Bill's the guy whose ear you want at the barbecue. You just know there's nowhere else he'd rather be and no one else he'd rather be talking to. I see Bill sneaking another piece of chicken at a barbecue, and Hillary sneaking a peek at her watch. Poll: From a political opportunity perspective ONLY, for whom does the ascendancy of this movement create more electoral opportunity?

I do not. I'll be candid, I'm not familiar with One America. Should I?

I have no use for Trump. I want him out of the race. I would subscribe to a media outlet providing weekly 30 minute segments of him in meetings with world leaders.

FOX News will be fine. I enjoy your posts.

I grew up, in a matter of speaking, with MSNBC as my first cable alternative to the three networks. I loved it. I feel it jumped the shark about eight years ago (who knows the date)! I asked myself if it really jumped a shark, or if my tastes changed. The station began advertising, branding, that it chose a progressive branding in the search for a particular audience. I respect the decision, but the programming's not for me. Chris Mathews was a writer I greatly admired in my early political development. He makes my head spin, today. I think this is by design, in defense of Mathews. "Man's gotta eat". Have a seat and take a drink ... I find FOX's news to be the best. It devotes more air time to competing views. Its EDITORIAL content is decidedly conservative, as am I. What I like about FOX is the quality of the liberal view in terms of speakers. I draw a hard line between news and editorial content, and use them differently. Lastly, when I want to enjoy news leisurely, like a glass of wine or a beer, I'll tune in NPR. It has the luxury of allowing for long sets on narrow topics. Liberal up the wazoo, but thorough and deep.

Please tell me no one excludes any source. For the love of all things oblong ... This made me think of something fun. My most frequent sources .... FOX, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Times (conservative) and Post (liberal), NPR, The New York Times, Salon ... The Buffalo News!

Careful, you'll get a reputation.

I believe Fox would not have hired Kelly if she "thought" like O'Donnell. I believe I'm a "Fox faithful" person. I'm not trashing Kelly. Trump thrives by creating media and establishment enemies. He missed on this one. I think his outrage is manufactured. He blew it. MrsNeo thinks you may be on to something with your "little princess" reference.

You make me think. My support of military spending would probably not be as grand as you think, in dollars. My support of military spending as a legitimate activity of a central government is solid. In other words, military spending bills pass my first test. I am happy to be taxed my fair share to pay for what government can do best on my behalf. In the context of fiscal conservatism, balanced budgets and threats, let's discuss the number. I have little argument with the Clinton era budgets. He was effective. Now, like all Presidents, he'll be judged in the context of the threats he faced. Events shape Presidents as much as Presidents shape events. I often wonder what Clinton would have proposed if the Twin Towers fell on his watch. I am no revisionist. I supported Bush's expeditions in to Afghanistan and Iraq. Hindsight doesn't cleanse me of my "vote" at the time. I voted the same way Bush did, as did Hillary Clinton and John Kerry. I always remember Ted Kennedy with a principled "no" at the time of the Iraq resolution (after "yes" on Afghanistan). We compounded the error of an ill advised entry with an unwise rapid retreat. My criticism of Bush was the unfunded nature of his use of the military. Deficits grew when he continued tax cuts at a time of increased military spending. My grandchildren will pay for Afghanistan and Iraq, with accumulated interest, while also paying for defense against whatever future threats they face.

Isabella Rossellini. I see Isabella Rossellini. ah, Grasshopper .... You will be ready to leave when you can GRAB this pebble from my hand. STRANGE bedfellows, indeed.
