  1. My first complaint is in the form of a question. Does the NHL Network own the rights to any other team's games than the Red Wings?

My second complaint is in regards to cell phones in general(also in the form of a question). Does anyone ever just sit quietly and think anymore? Whether it's walking the dog or driving somewhere, everyone I see is on the phone. Who are they talking too and about what? There's no way it's of anything important. It seems like they are so afraid to be alone with their own thoughts that they try and drown them out by yappin'. Heck, they may even come up with a thought of their own. Who knows?

Oh, and one more. Autistic kids that come over and smash the keyboard, making me have to start this post three times....she's just lucky she's cute.

  2. That's a neat little tidbit of history. Nice.

My complaint for this week is lace bite. The ice at RIT opened today for weekly Wednesday open skates until the fall. It's no secret that I hate wearing hockey skates, which makes playing my favorite sport a painful experience. I have bony, weak ankles and bad circulation because I'm lanky. I have to tie my skates super tight to get enough support, which in turn makes my feet go numb (sometimes) and usually always makes the tops of my feet (where the ankle curves), sore and red. I have these nifty gel pads that I bought by a company named Maltese and they help a little with the bite and support, but it still leaves me wishing for a fifth of whiskey after about an hour on the ice. I don't know if maybe these super nice Easton's are just not right for me or what, but they were all I could get that came in a wider boot size. Maybe I need something with a different liner, who knows. All I know is I hate lace bite.

Have you tried CCM's. I'm pretty lanky too(6'4") and tried Eastons and Bauers. They both killed my feet. CCMs are the only ones that don't hurt(after they break in of course :censored: ).

  3. I wish I could be in Geneva, Switzerland tomorrow for the 500th birthday celebrations of this great Frenchman. Maybe some major media outlet will have some coverage of the festivities.

It's just a bummer for me that I have to miss out on it.

I've always thought that Calvinism was just a way to use religion as a means to justify greed,"God knows everything, so he must have wanted me to have all this material crap, otherwise he would not have allowed me to have it." Seeing as Ben Franklin was a Calvinist it's no wonder that a lot of American ideals are based on this very concept.

Me personally, I don't need to exploit others and have more stuff than someone else in order to feel good about myself.

My complaint, Hockey refs. I know they have a tough job, but c'mon. I play defense. In our game on Monday, the opposing team's guy takes a shot, so I bring my stick down on the guy in front of the net's stick, so that if there is a rebound he can't get to it. That guy then gets mad and punches me in the face. The ref yells at me. Apparently, Hockey USA changed the rules and what I did is now deemed slashing. I say,"but he punched me in the face", he says,"but you slashed him and could have broken his stick." It is the same move I have made twenty times a game since I started playing hockey. I wasn't going to break his stick and it wasn't slashing. And I don't see how you equate a hockey play like tying up a guy's stick, with punching someone in the face. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I should come to the realization that punching someone in the face is a hockey play.

  4. Now there is a complaint worth bemoaning, Finding good Buffalo wings when you live outside of Bflo... Everyone will tell you this or that place but then you go there and their not... ...
If you're calling them buffalo wings, you're already doomed to failure. I will not buy any product with that name.

    QFT

  5. I hate it when my neighbor's derelict minivan catches fire, shooting flames 15 feet in the air, almost starting the tree above it on fire, not 10 feet from the side of my house where my daughter was taking her afternoon nap and me and another neighbor have to run and get our garden houses and put it out before the fire department arrive. [deep inhale]

  6. Another partial tear of my MCL. I'll probably miss two games. But the worst part is that I went to watch our game on Monday and there were only 6 guys there. There I am wishing I could play and half the team hung the other half out to dry because it was a 10:45 start. How much sleep do people need?

  7. Ok, here's a complaint that has been eating and eating and eating at me for an immeasureable time period. I CAN'T stand racist people. The fire department I work at uses the "N" word left and right. It sickens me. Every shift a new "N" related joke is brought up. How can racist people claim to be Christian? God created us all equal. How can a racist person say they have their faith in God? They are going against Christianity w/ the racist beliefs they have. On my shift, I am literally the only person who claims to be against racism. And what do I get for that? Nothing. I'm also the only person on my shift who supports a diverse Supreme Court. They are pissed off that a latino-american female is about to be sworn in. I just cannot stand people who dislike someone else because of their skin color and/or heritage. I cannot stand people who apply a stereotype to a race or religion. A guy on my shift literally said the only terrorists in the world are Muslim. I simply said you have to be kidding me. Last I checked Timothy McVeigh wasn't muslim. I know I'm rambling on and on, but I am tired of people who hold some form of prejudice or have developed some type of stereotype. Racist people make me want to puke all over of them. It is wrong for them to have the beliefs they have!

*Anyone have something I should say to some of the racist puckheads on my shift? I'd really like for them to know how puckin' stupid they are.

I never miss an opportunity to tell someone not to use that word in front of me. When they ask why I just say,"because I don't like it." If they need more of a reason I put it on them,"It makes you sound stupid and you're smarter than that."

It was only hard the first time. It's real easy for me to say it now.

  8. What makes me really irate over the whole situation is that the book Multiple Blessings is STILL being sold in Christian bookstores - in spite of all the buzz at the Wal-Mart tabloids!

What I am about to say will probably draw a bunch of "who cares" replies from you guys. However, please hear me out. All of you know just how far to the right I tilt on just about everything - including this book. From all of the book reviews I perused through on amazon.com, quite a few people brought up the fact that Bible verses were being scattered throughout the manuscript. I could careless just how many verses an author throws in there (which, BTW, they had assistance in writing this book). Their lives don't back up what's written in there (and a very big reason why I don't trust what's being sold in Christian bookstores for the most part - but that's an entirely different topic that I won't bring up on this forum).

Ok, ok. Some of you may be saying, "just like the pot calling the kettle black." Yes, I make mistakes and I own up to them. It's all a part of my pilgrimage. OTOH, I don't see them owning up to anything - except when they get caught!

On a related note, I get a kick out of these women that get implanted with all these embryos because they can't get pregnant, then when they all survive and the doctors tell them they should remove a couple because it is safer for them and the mother, they say,"No. God gave me all these miracles and I'm going to have all of them." Bullsweet! Man and Science gave you all those babies, not God. If it was up to him you wouldn't have any kids.

As for J+K+8. I have one daughter. Having spent the last three days traveling between work and the hospital, it really pisses me off when I see them treating 8 healthy kids like accessories or paychecks. I know I'm probably just jealous, but they don't know how good they've got it.

EDIT:Sorry for bringin' the Heavy to the party. Just had to get it out.

  9. I'm driving in to work today and my Ipod lands on Rush - La Villa Stangiato. It made me remember a complaint that has been eating at me for years. Rolling Stone did a list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time(yes I know these lists are stupid) and Alex Lifeson was not on the list. Personally, he's at least in my top twenty. Whatever, but then don't go and put Joan Jett on that list as well. Yes,... you read that correctly,... Joan Jett.

  10. Grass? What is that?

Isn't that what beatniks smoke to feel groovy?

Oh yeah, my complaint. People here complain about winter saying how they hate to shovel snow. C'mon. You maybe have to shovel here four times a winter...maybe. Yet you have to mow the freakin' lawn every week because it grows so fast.

Did I mention I hate Summer?

  11. Any Cult fans out there?

If you like symphonic metal from Finland, here's one for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jd_ZF594DKU (Too bad Tarja Turunen got dissed by her own bandmates)

That reminds me of this time tested classic.

  12. I am a child of 90's rock, so for me there is nothing better. I swear to god there is no alt rock song from the 90s that I don't know, I think I've literally heard it all.

This is the first song I can remember hearing on the radio in the 90s. I was 8 (I know right?) and it was all down hill for me from there. B-)

About 4 years ago I went on a search to rediscover a lot of 90s music that I remembered but had no idea who did it or what it was. It was quite an adventure. A couple gems including:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5Cf5OusjrQ

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2EE511FWsQ

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0pm0hNbYqo

That was a nice little trip. I'm a little older but still like a lot of that music.

The whole time I kept saying,"where's that Spacehog tune?"...and there it was.

EDIT:I found the comment from the One More Astronaut chat kinda funny,"Canada! Thats a dirty of the commonwealth isnt it? " That's just funny.

  13. As senior advisor and site historian, I am pleased to announce the site has undergone a format change. It's now WINE, all whine, all the time. I was going to announce it in an LB-style animated press conference, but I'll be damned if can figure out how to do it! LB is a genius.

Wine, and whine, gives me a headache.

  14. Please clarify. There's three people I've covered thus far, including the guy who made a lucid observation on the whole matter.

I meant the two in your plus/minus. I won't comment on the preacher.

    to 11.

    No Sabres playoffs just sucks.

  15. No, but I am well aware of the controversy surrounding the question. There is no denying that he had an agenda.

what someone had to say about it.

My complaint is that Evangelical Christians complain when some ELSE has an agenda. Oh, the irony.

By the way, I find BOTH of their intolerance equally as repulsive.
