Then it is what it is. The problems of a single NHL franchise don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world.
I want to be a winner before I die.

Looking forward to this. Living near Boston, I have to drive a few hours to be in position, but there won't be another chance to see totality anywhere near here until 2079.
2079?

Why do you keep asking me these questions? They need about 4 players right now. Still need RHD in top 4. Now we need a 3C, and a 4C and a power forward.
It’s not my job to name them. Look at the upcoming UFAs and possible trades. I don’t see any immediate help from the prospect pool and would like to see a few of them packaged in trade for veteran players.
They can trade for them. Not every player has a NMC, most do not. That is an excuse.
People saying to tear this down are crazy.
Would love to see a real coaching search that brings in better coaching. Not gonna happen though.
As to the coaching search or lack thereof, I wonder if the new COO will be a game changer. If he has any disrupter in him at all, and if Terry's all about the bottom line now, it wouldn't be hard to make the argument that the Sabres have to start selling something more than hope. A name coach and a new style of play. Lindy probably fits the bill.
I don't see KA going anywhere... Yet.

Larkin being back changes them
A 1-0 loss to unbeatable Nashville doesn’t change that
Why are you so disagreeable?

Zero chance
If we are factoring in games in hand
Given how the Wings have been playing, falling short of their season pace in the last 11 games is reasonable. So let's say they get 11 points. The Caps have been coming on but their SOS is a problem for them. So 13 points for them. My cutoff is lower than yours.
It's happening.

This will 100% happen. Everytime i have quit on the sabres this year they pull me back in. I expect us to be alive until the final week in the season. They live on torturing thier fans.
I'll go perhaps farther than you and say the Sabres will get within one to three points of a berth before falling short. The Florida finish will be the coup de gras.

No, my anger is just with the 4 putrid years
Youngest team in hockey doesn’t mean anything. If you tout that as an indicator of looming success you are falling for the propaganda
“Philly, Tampa will take a step back”. Baseless bias, we hear this literally every year
The Bruins were finished. As were the Lightning.
Some predicted the Isles demise and they're still better than we are.

Because there’s less runway. We have to go 9-1-1 at worst to make it, that’s 90 points and cutoff is currently 92
its over
Cutoff? It's a made up moving target. I never understood why you used season point pace and not last 10 games or... Something else.

Absolutely. It's what they do.

The Sabres will be playing meaningful games into April. As long as there is a mathematical chance they have as good a chance as any other team that they are close to in the standings. There is still a lot of hockey to be played here. Never give up.
Thank you.

Caps then Isles winning and Sabres flaming out would go a long way toward ending it.
Kinda surprised Thorny is giving up so soon. I don't see how the Sabres' spot is that much more hopeless than when he laid out his case.
Sabres have two home games against Washington and Washington's schedule is tough, for example. Wings' sked is even worse and Sabres still play them.
And if the Sabres do enough to get past both the Wings and Caps, the Isles and Devs shouldn't be a factor.
9-2 could get it done.

FWIW Accuweather's forecast for 4/8 is not good but perhaps contains a glimmer of hope over two weeks out.

From astronomy.com...
One of the more intriguing aspects of the satellite cloud measurements is the presence of fewer clouds along the south shore of Lakes Erie and Ontario. This reduction — as much as 15 percent — is due to the influence of the lakes, which suppress the formation of convective clouds along their south shores when cold winds blow from the north. Clouds form when the ground is warmed, but the air must travel a short distance inland before the warming takes hold. The effect is quite limited, as the map shows, and so eclipse watchers should also watch the weather and head for the lakes’ shores if that cold flow is forecast. This pattern greatly favors Cleveland, and Buffalo and Rochester, New York, as eclipse-viewing sites....

Better chance of clear skies near the lake? Is this a thing?

Where is that guy that said someone in the Sabres front office said he might sell to the Wegman family.
I am thoroughly convinced that nothing changes until Terry is gone. This organization is dying for successful veteran NHL people in positions of power in the organization but it will. Never happen under Terry and we are bound for 13 more years of this garbage.
Me too.
