  1. Last year was the worst I have ever endured not only as a season ticket holder but as a fan. The whirlwind of the last week while likely not putting us in the playoffs this season guarantees we will be getting something in exchange for our money. This team will not be a pushover or unable to ice a legitimate NHL team. We didn't do that many times last year and it was embarrassing and difficult to endure.

And some of these kids could say there is no tank and be great this year. I'm not expecting that but it could happen. Regardless, the future looks like a hot damn good time to be a season ticket holder.

Here's the thing though. The Sabres were only blown out a few times all of last season. I guess that fact can be interpreted in a number of ways. My take is it's tough to tank, and the Sabres might be just enough better next season to screw their chances of getting McDavid. (Full disclosure: I thought the Sabres would be a bubble playoff team last season!)

  2. who gives a ###### about his contract right now. He will call whatever number of games he wishes to for as long as he can get in front of his microphone.

    Kick cancer's ass RJ!

smh. Let's substitute the word "future" for "contract." (On the other hand, he won't "call whatever number of games he wishes to," unless that contract is revised. He's done the season after next.)

  3. I think after the day GMTM has had today it almost has to be Darcy. A reminder of what lurks in the shadows.

Nah. Look at the remarkable end result of Vanek for Moulson, and it's still about half Darcy's doing and half Tim's. I wanted Darcy out like everyone else, but Darcy's handprints are still on this team — Murray even acknowledged as much yesterday.

OK, lurks in the shadows. Maybe we're saying the same thing.

  4. McCormick is a decent penalty killer, a guy who will play the body, a fighter who will go with just about anyone, and a decent skater. I would take him over Scott or Ellis any day of the week. For the 2nd season in a row where it may become a challenge to drag myself to the FNC come January, February & March, his style of play is a welcome addition.

Well said. He's hockey player-ish. It would actually be fun to look back at his youth hockey days. He might have been pretty awesome. How do these guys end up as fighters?

  5. You can double down on the squash - find a good pumpkin sauce to replace the tomato sauce.

I make a butternut squash soup — it's got cream cheese in it and turns out pretty thick because I also add cauliflower and don't puree it. I bet that would be good over the "spaghetti." Thanks.

  6. Hold the horses there bud. I believe the quote is adding not drafting. Big difference. He also said adding to the team and not to the organization. Also a big difference.

All he was saying was that 2 to 3 young players that they have drafted or have acquired or will draft next year will be making the team each year in the next 2 to 3 to 4 years.

    Nicely parsed.
